Do other cruise ships go to Dominica Republic?

I know that Carnival will be going there starting in Oct. but I was wondering if any other cruise lines already go there.

La Romana and Samana (Cayo Levantado) have been Dominican ports for many years. The Find A Cruise button at the top of this page allows you to search for cruises by ports of call.

Carnival, and most other lines, have been cruising to the Dominican Republic for years, so they're not just starting to go there in October. We've visited there on Princess, Celebrity, Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Crystal, and other lines.

We went to Santo Domingo years ago on Rotterdam..... actually is was on a b-to-b we took for the Millennium Christmas/New Years Cruise 1999 - 2000. :)

We have been to Samana, Dominican Republic a few times.

Really not too much there.

Each time we went there, it was a tender port for us.

That said, having been to the DR myself many times over the last 10 years it really wouldn't be on my top list of ports to visit via cruise ship. It is fine for land based resort type actions but other than that not so much...in my opinion.

You're confusing two different places. There's the Domnican Republic and the island of Dominica (which, right now is being pounded by the hurricane)

We've been to the Dominican Republic a couple of times on Princess and didn't care much for it as a port stop rather than just going to a resort there.

When Amber Cove opens, we would be willing to give it another try. :)

You may be somewhat confused. Carnival is having a new port built on the Atlantic side, close to the north end of the island, named Amber Cove. It's supposed to be ready for docking in October. Currently, Carnival docks at La Romana.

Thanks for all the information. And yes I did look it up on the list above and didn't see it but I now know I was looking at the wrong port name.

 

We are going on a plantation tour with lunch. I hope we will enjoy it.
