Web site has always said that.

Reality has always been that it goes for anything charged to your onboard account until the OBC runs out and you start owing Princess.

Yes, it's nice that Princess is doing this. Plus it's great that we (veterans) no longer have to keep resubmitting our dd214 each time. Hopefully Princess will get generous and include veterans from the UK and Europe.

I tried to get it for my service in the Dutch army, no such luck (yet).

As a vet we do appreciate that Princess has really simplified their process. Once you submit the appropriate paperwork (i.e. DD214) to prove you qualify, they tie the benefit to your Captain's Circle number/account. So when you book any future cruise and use your Captain's Club number the veterans credit is automatically added to your onboard account (and shows in the online cruise personalizer).

Yes, we have just received $1050 OBC, 750 for vet credit ( includes 250 they forgot from last cruise) and '300 for booking this on our last cruise

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Did you originally apply & they just forgot it or was it any afterthought to request it?

Hello,

Once they have the military service on file, you will not need to resend it each time. We found out on our second booking with Princess that it automatically applies after they have it in the system. Great perk! :)

Yes. I just asked my SIL if he got his vet credit on the cruise we are currently doing. He said it showed up without him doing anything new. I guess once they know you it's automatic.

It's automatic for US vets (not sure about Canadians) but posts from the UK, AUS & think NZ say they need to reapply each time. :(

There are exceptions. In the Military terms and conditions it says:

"Offer excludes all concessionary Staff and Travel Agent travel (including family and friends specials) and Breakaway/Interline fares."

I booked a low fare recently through a TA, not knowing it must have been one of these breakaway/interline fares (whatever they are)! I was not notified by the TA the fare wasn't combinable with other offers.

Princess declined to apply our Military Credit due to the type of fare paid.

They tell us it is automatic here in Australia (well that is what they said in the last email I got ) however I am yet to have it applied automatically to a booking (have made 4 more since that email ) or hear of anyone else down here having it auto applied.

Hopefully it's now automatically issued because it also benefits Princess by not having to process unnecessary requests for each cruise. Unlike the shareholders benefit where eligibility can change...once a veteran, always a veteran. ;)

It's a great benefit & one of the reasons why we enjoy a Princess cruise.

Active duty have to renew every year. I just send them a copy of my CAC. Small price to pay for a great benefit. 2 more years and I'll have that coveted DD-214!

Cheers

No, we have to apply for it each cruise in Australia/NZ. I served in both the British Army and the Australian Army, but no double dipping !!. Anyway good of Princess to give us the OBC, even if it is a pain applying for it each time with proof of service etc.

We do send it in for each cruise though according to Princess we shouldn't need to here in Aus, this is what I got from Princess last year:

"Thank you for contacting Princess Cruises.

I have applied the defence benefits to your booking and have sent a updated booking confirmation out to your email address showing the increase in onboard credit .

As of 18th August 2014 we now have a updated process for defence benefits, I have now added proof of service to your loyalty number and so any future bookings that you make will now automatically apply the defence benefits when a new booking is made.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.

Kind Regards

Linda Divitt

You would think a statement on Princess's web site would let people know that it's not necessary to reapply each cruise once approved. Maybe in time.

I think it is a great email but as I mentioned in my previous post I am still yet to have it auto applied to a booking, I have still needed to send in the form each time so far. It will be nice when the system does finally work.

I wouldn't trust it since if it's not applied before sailing you'll have one heck of a job from the ship to verify it. It's easy enough to check before leaving home.

You are correct, it's easy to verify the military OBC. It will show up in your Cruise Planner. I've a cruise booked for Dec 2015 and the Military OBC is already in my planner for that cruise. I didn't do anything. I submitted a DD214 three cruises ago and it just shows up for each new cruise. It's also showing for my March 2017 cruise.

BTW, Account Summary in My Princess will also show the OBC including military.

Hate to tell you, but you've missed your Dec 2015 cruise! :D

My OBC is already applied to my cruise in Jan 2017, no problems getting it, only takes a minute to fill out the form, and I already have my DD-214 (and other important records) scanned on my computer.

Oh, Crap, I hate it when I forget to get on the ship.

Should have been December 2016.
