MGM perk - anyone experienced it yet?

We are Elite Plus on X and Platinum M Life. We were on the Solstice in July and did not receive any info or welcome amenity in our cabin. I also did not get a free special restaurant dinner. I had to go to the casino and introduce myself. When I asked about the drink voucher`s they did not know of them. They put a sticker on our Blue Chip Card and we could get free drinks in the Casino only. No drink vouchers to be used anywhere. I think the proper info does not reach the Casino Host`s on the ships. We will be back on board the Solstice in 3 weeks and will see if anything has changed.

I'll be on Infinity in two days, and will also see the Casino Host regarding the MLife info. I have the same Captain's Club status, and I'm curious about this program.

The way it was explained to me is in order to get any benefits on the ship you must have earned your M-Life status through the M-Life program, not Captain's Club Level. Your Captain's Club level will get the Platinum Benefits at the land based hotels & casinos but does not get you the perks on board. If you happen to be a Blue Chip Club member and M-Life Platinum you have to choose which benefits you want to take and can't receive both. The Blue Chip benefits are normally much better than the M-Life on board the ships.

We are Elite on Celebrity and I was going to sign up for MLife before our February cruise because I seem to remember we should get some benefits

Which makes perfect sense. If the only reason you are a particular tier in M Life is because of your CC status, it is logical that it doesn't give you MORE benefits than you already get from your existing (and M Life qualifying) CC status.

Me, too! We are on the same sailing as you on the Infinity so really looked for this information. It is incredible as we are Gold with M-life. To have your m-life number added to your reservation, call 8552272537. The woman I spoke with added our # to our 2 upcoming Celebrity cruises but said the because the cruise is tomorrow, we may need to check with the casino hosts if the perks aren't already placed in our room. The only ones we are particularly interested in are the waiving of the 5% cash advance fee in the casino, specialty dinner for 2 and the drink vouchers, as we do not have the beverage package. I am taking my m-life card just in case. Keeping my fingers crossed and will report back after the cruise.

For Royal Caribbean, I added that m-life number to our reservation for an upcoming cruise and the same perks have been added. BTW, he noted that the specialty dinner is for 2 and the drink vouchers are to be used in the casino. Since our accounts are linked, we will get 5 (not 10) vouchers for the gold status level.

I just have to thank everyone on cruise critic for responding to this. I just love my perks and would have not known about this without all the helpful people on this site. :)

We are only lowly Sapphire with M-life. Does it pay for us to add our M-life number to our reservation?

Looks like you would be able to earn tier credits for your m-life account and get some exclusive cruise offers. It does not appear to be much but what could it hurt?

We earned our status at M Life and Elite Plus with X separate. Other than free drinks in the casino what are other benefits for Blue Chip members ?

For what it's worth, this was in my last email from them:

Your Blue Chip Club benefits

In addition to your discounted cruise, you always enjoy these additional perks:

• Priority Boarding

 • 20% off Canyon Ranch SpaClub® signature treatments

 • 25% more Internet minutes with purchase of $59 or more

 • 1 free 3 on Red Jackpot Card good for your third game with

  any Bingo package

 • 5% off dining packages

 • 20% off specialty restaurants on embarkation day

 • 20% off a photo print and portfolio, plus 20% off

  a Voyage in Review DVD

I noticed last time they put a sticker on my card, does that mean something different?

Here's the story. If one is just going by money spent it would take spending $8,000. a year at MGM properties to get and retain Platinum membership.

Thinking back of the 2-3 years I actually "earned" Platinum status with Mlife, my losses were well north of that. Of course the $8,000 assumes a specific house advantage and expected losses necessary to acquire 200,000 credits.

The biggest perks which I appreciate at the Platinum Mlife level are the special lines at the buffets and places like Cafe Bellagio as well as the priority taxi lines. Sometimes the regular lines can be many dozens - even hundreds (buffet) deep! As for the taxi lines - you can often save 20-30 minutes of waiting on busier nights.

We'll be Elite Plus after our Constellation sailing in November - so I won't have that virtual carrot in my mind when playing in Vegas... even though, YES... one should never chase/play for comps anyway!!

We are just off the Infinity and were so very happy about this added perk. We added our number to our reservation at the Captain's Club desk and went to meet the casino host, Dimi. We brought our m-life gold cards just in case but in the end, were not needed as we had added the number just before we left. They had all the info they needed. We were treated to drink vouchers for the casino, dinner for 2 at a specialty restaurant of our choice as well as chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne in our room. What more could we have asked for??

Dimi does an amazing job of remembering those that introduce themselves as m-life members even though there was another gambling group onboard as well as several blue chip members. How did he keep it all straight?? But he did indeed!!

Very nice perks for us even though we hadn't had much luck until the last day onboard. We did see a lot of winners throughout the cruise though! NICE....

FYI - I'm a member of both Blue Chip and MLife Gold. I just called to add my MLife account to my upcoming cruises. But they told me that I will earn MLife points on the cruise and would not be eligible for Blue Chip benefits or their incentive rebates. You either get Blue Chip or MLife benefits, but not both. I'd love a free specialty dinner and welcome amenity from MLife but I'd rather have the Blue Chip benefits like spa discounts and the rebate. I told MLife to cancel adding my Gold account to the upcoming cruises.

MLife sounds like a great benefit if you're not already in Blue Chip. But it doesn't help me.

I recently made a reservation at the Bellagio for the Penthouse Premier Fountain view suite (for a 50th birthday celebration - woo hoo!). I am Elite status with Celebrity and was not aware of this program. I'm guessing it's too late to take advantage of any room discount (and there's not much more room to upgrade to), but is it worth it to call and see if there would be any other perks? Who should I call? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

This question was asked of me on another thread....

My family will be boarding Infinity in a few weeks. We, too, are MLife members and also enjoy trips to Vegas :-) Can you expand on the MLife freebies you received and what you had to do to connect the two accounts?

Thank you - and welcome home!

This was my experience and answer to the question above:

Perfect timing as they say it does take a few days to a week to send the notification over to the ship. Although, I called the day before our cruise when I first found out about it and got everything I was entitled to -- maybe more.

The number to call is: 855-227-2537 at Celebrity where you will provide them with your mlife card number. We are gold status so got the following:

-Welcome amenity: Champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in our room (ours was later in the cruise as we signed up so late)

-Complimentary drink coupons: for use in the casino (if you don't drink, you can always use them for bottles of water I suppose) - we were supposed to get 10 but got a few extra; we didn't have the beverage package so those coupons came out to be just the right number for one drink per day

-Free specialty dinner for 2: here is the big perk (besides the drinks) - but if you are in a larger suite, this is already offered to you but for us, it was $100 perk and even our corkage was covered but we spent a lot of time in the casino. You can pick the SS United States ($100), QSine ($90)or the Bistro on Five ($20)

-Priority embarkation and departure lounge access: if you are elite on Celebrity, this is already provided

-Exclusive Onboard Booking Perk: Wish I would have remembered this one as I did book onboard -- darn! Next time I will check into this

-5% fee for taking money out in the casino waived: we had a lot of onboard credit so this saved us a bit of money

Since we added our number so late, we met up with the captain's circle hostess (Alexandra) and she added this info to our account. She also suggested meeting up with the casino host (Dimi) who was already notified that we would be introducing ourselves. Both Alex and Dimi were great and took very good care of us. Regardless, I think you will need to meet up with at least Dimi to make sure your perks are added even if you sign up earlier than we did. We took our mlife cards with us just in case.

There was no voucher for the restaurant, just a notification at the restaurant that is was covered. Also, when taking money out, be sure to tell the cashier that the fee should be waived -- each time just in case.

There are more or less perks depending on your mlife status. If you are a blue chip member on the cruiselines, I believe those perks are better than these. We play quite a bit on a cruise but not large denominations so this perk was perfect for us! Also, your points earned on the ship are applied to your mlife account.

At the end of your cruise, you can turn your points into play money -- so don't leave that on the books as you cannot take it out for cash or roll it over onto another cruise.

Have fun and good luck. We saw many winners on this cruise ... well over $1000 for several.

What is the rebate ?

When I have a new reservation, i contact BlueChip and they tell me how much of an incentive rebate will be waiting for me when i get on the ship based on my play from the last cruise. I usually get about $400-500. I play table games for at least a couple hours a night, usually $50+ average bet.

It's been my experience, at least on Carnival, that rebates are equal to roughly 10% of my losses.

I may be wrong but I think you will find that if you don't play a fairly significant amount when you go to Las Vegas your membership will be downgraded after the first year so enjoy the benefits while you may. I've been an M-Life member for many years and the last few years it has become necessary to re-qualify for your membership level each year.

This is correct. We used this in Vegas last year..we were Diamond on Royal Caribbean (Elite/Celebrity) when it was only being offered to RC. We were given the Mlife GOLD card and this year we did not go to Vegas. Our Gold Mlife was downgraded to Pearl. The member number remains the same. I would GUESS that if I were to call the 800 number if I were going back to Vegas that I MIGHT be able to get the Gold status back based upon my cruise status remaining the same. But, I know for a fact that it is downgraded.

Exactly! We were given a 'free' cruise from our local casino on Carnival...which ended up costing $7,000 for two people. Of course, they gave us another one and another one and another one, which we didn't take them up on.

Hi. I do not get priority embarkation as I don't become Select until after my next cruise. I do have MLife Gold status that I have already linked it to my reservation. One of the perks is supposed to be Priority Embarkation & Departure Lounge but nowhere on my cruise docs does it state that I have it. Has anyone had any experience with this when checking in?

We are Elite and are sailing in Aqua, both of which should give us priority embarkation.

I just looked at our Express Pass and it doesn't say anything about it anywhere.

You may just have to print out the benefits from the website and would also take your MLife Gold card with you. We were Gold with MLife as well as Elite with Celebrity so didn't notice which one got us the priority boarding. When we boarded is when we verified the Mlife benefits. Since you will be able to discuss with the Captains Circle host, you will most likely have no issue with the disembarkation lounge. Let us know how everything works out.

We did seem to receive some better offers through MGM based on our Celebrity status .... just of note. So it is nice it works both ways.
