FreestyleNovice Posted December 8, 2015 Author #176 Share Posted December 8, 2015 A have a quick question regarding this new ship formerly known as Bliss. Besides a larger casino, and a different menu what other changes from a traditional cruise ship do we expect to see? Will the bathroom facilities be different? What I've learned from the Genting Dream (a Breakaway class vessel currently being build at Meyer for Genting/Dreamcruiseline, next up/together in the hall will be formerly Bliss) is that the Chinese vacation with multiple generations together so expect much connecting cabins. Also the new upper- and middle class like to shop luxurious and top shelf brands in clothing, bags, liquors etc. as a remark of succes. And expect to see local eateries/street food or geared towards their domestic experience.
FreestyleNovice Posted December 8, 2015 Author #177 Share Posted December 8, 2015 FreestyleNovice, check the Meyer website here. The first AIDA ship is now announced for fall 2018 which closes that open slot. So we have Breakaway Plus 3 and AIDA 1 in 2018. 2019 has Breakaway Plus 4 and Quantum Class 4 plus the small Saga ship. 2020 has Quantum Class 5 and AIDA 2. steamboats Thanks! :) Really curious how the LNG part of those AIDA(and Costa) ships will work out. Also looking forward how BA+ #3 will be and how different from Escape. This #2 just feels like a in between ship heheh...
Loonbeam Posted December 8, 2015 #178 Share Posted December 8, 2015 For a guideline, look at what Princess did to the Diamond when they retrofitted her for the Asian market (Japan, not China but still relevant) http://www.princess.com/news/press_releases/2014/03/Diamond-Princess-to-Undergo-Extensive-Drydock-Transformation.html#.VmdMJeJhbnM What I've learned from the Genting Dream (a Breakaway class vessel currently being build at Meyer for Genting/Dreamcruiseline, next up/together in the hall will be formerly Bliss) is that the Chinese vacation with multiple generations together so expect much connecting cabins. breezy270 Posted January 31, 2016 #179 Share Posted January 31, 2016 I was on the Star in April and was told by one of the officers of the ship that NCL plans to have a mega ship sailing the Mexican Riviera route as the west coast market is growing and they do not have a large ship to attract cruisers. Not sure if this will be Bliss or they will reposition a different mega ship to this itinerary.

It was announced previously, and discussed quite a bit in this thread, that the current build (formerly known as Bliss) is going to China.
Black Pearl Sailor Posted January 31, 2016 #181 Share Posted January 31, 2016 NCL have delivered fantastic ships out of Papenburg over many years but I wonder whether getting rid of their Shipyard based new build team with no notice, a month before Christmas last year is going to be the smartest cost saving move NCL have made. The team there had a tremendous reputation for delivering quality on time!

The team there had a tremendous reputation for delivering quality on time! Yes, unfortunately they've been another casualty of the management shakeup. To NCLH's credit, they didn't completely yank the floor out from underneath the newbuild team until after they finished Escape. After the contracted ships are completed, it's quite likely that future ships will be built at Fincantieri. FDR and his ex-Carnival VPs love working with them. barnacle_boy Posted February 25, 2016 #195 Share Posted February 25, 2016 Isn't that the "Bliss" in the picture above No, it's Genting Dream. NCL is next in the order book. Genting Dream is a modified Breakaway Class vessel, so it's easy to confuse the two.

Steff79 Posted February 29, 2016 #199 Share Posted February 29, 2016 With a capacity of 3,900 guests, the new Breakaway Plus-class sounds good, not so many people on the same space. why only china market?
