Has anyone done any of the cruises to Bermuda? Am seriously considering it but want to know which might be more worth it....having 1 or 2 or 3 nights there...going out of which ports...the ships that go..?

Carnival does not have much that goes to Bermuda.

Check out Royal Caribbean: the new ANTHEM SHIP out of New Jersey

Celebrity: The Summit out of New Jersey

Norwegian: The new Breakaway out of NY

Absolutely fantastic. One of our FAVORITE places to go.

Does the Sunshine stay overnight? This is what the poster is asking about. The Breakaway stays 3 nights. It was GREAT. The Summit and Anthem also do overnights.:)

Did Glory to Bermuda from Norfolk in October 2011. We were there for 1-1/2 days and I can tell you that it was not nearly enough time!

Going on Splendor from Norfolk on 10/23 and we'll be there from 8 am Monday until 4 pm on Wednesday (pretty much 3 full days) and I'm still having problems narrowing down what I want to do and place I want to see.

Pride arrives from Baltimore at noon the day we leave but is only there until noon the next day. IMHO, that's a total waste of money. Bermuda cruises tend to be rather expensive and those people simply won't have enough time to do much of anything.

Your option on Carnival are extremely limited. Balcony and suites on our cruise have been sold out for over a year and prices have climbed (as expected - very limited supply and high demand).

If you're determined to go to Bermuda, you have many more options on other lines that sail there all summer, every summer.

There are 2 different itineraries foe the Pride. The 5 day is only 24 hours in Bermuda. The 7 day is 2 1/2 days docked arrive 8am day 3 of your cruise and leave afternoon day 5.

If you want to know where the cruise ships dock and for how long, take a look at the 2015 Bermuda Cruise Ship Schedule. The final 2016 schedule s/b out in early April, 2016.

The 2016 contract cruise ship visits s/b about the same as they were in 2015 as for arrival days & time.and departure days & time.

In my opinion , Bermuda is the most boring port, except for the Bahamas

IMHO, Bermuda is NOT boring, quite the opposite. Why is it boring?????

We have been there with RCI once for one day on a stop over cruise, once for two days, and twice for three days and regardless it is one our favorite cruises and one which we will continue to do.

Celebrity Summit in 2016 is the only RCI related line that will offer the 7 night cruise with 3-days there as RCI is changing Grandeur out of Baltimore to 5 and 9 night cruises which will provide 2 and 1 day ports of call, similar to Anthem out of Bayonne.

NCL I believe also offers a 7 night with 3 days there.

Highly recommend at least 2 days there.

We will be flamed for this, but as long time cruisers who have cruised all over the world (6 continents) we do not particularly like Bermuda cruises. Why? Because those cruises are more like a ferry boat between the USA and Bermuda. Once in Bermuda the ship shuts down many onboard activities and serves more like a docked hotel then a cruise ship. If we want to go to Bermuda we can fly to that island in about 2 hours. When we want to cruise....we want to cruise.

So to sum up, Bermuda is a nice island where we would be happy to spend a few days (or a week) in a hotel/resort. But we cannot be thrilled by a cruise from NYC, Baltimore or Boston to Bermuda.

The only on board activities that historically were shut down are the shops and the casinos - typical in any port of call. But with 2013 legislation the ships are now allowed to open their casinos in Bermuda from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, so only the shops would remain closed.

....and cruising between the US and Bermuda are still days as sea, which is cruising.

Hank, no flaming from me. I follow your posts with great interest. But when was the last time you sailed to Bermuda? Things have changed considerably in the last few years and in addition to decent entertainment on the ship when docked in Bermuda, the casinos are now permitted to be open.

You have to admit that it's a clean, safe island and the only one that I would feel completely comfortable exploring on my own in the evening.

As far as spending time as a land trip, yes, it would be fabulous, but let's also discuss the expense of a land trip vs cruising. Very costly.

Sailed there 14 times..most recently Aug 30 on the Summit. Not much has changed since our first cruise to that magical island 36 years ago.

Added bonus: no one bothers you on the beach to braid your hair, no McDonalds and no Diamonds International!

Why, because it has no Margaritaville, Senor Frogs, no one hounding you to buy something or take one of their excursions, no one bothering you on the beaches, no fast food restaurants....what?

If you consider this a flame, so be it.

As someone else asked, when was the last time you were there? And what is wrong with the ship being like a docked hotel? It's still a cruise ship in the evening if it's not cruising at the time. :D Most activities go on as normal except during the day when there might be less going on but people are off exploring.

Being docked for a couple of days gives people a chance to really do and see things. Many, many like the more relaxed pace of not having to get back to the ship at any particular time to head off to the next port.

The cost of flying and staying in a hotel then add food if you don't get some type of package deal which is even more expensive, makes it prohibitive for many people. Talk about not having anything to do at night. Bermuda is not known for it's night life on land and there's far more to do on the ship at night.
