Crown & Anchor - a few basic questions

Bob is correct. We use the 24 hours in first section of our cruises then use the other 24 hours for second diamond member later. It works much better than the old hour system as sometimes had trouble getting on or signing off. We use the 24 hours from usually afternoon to next day afternoon and not on shore days as not aboard. They also sell an unlimited internet package for $20/day and you can apply the $40 discount to that package. If you wait until the last two days of the cruise, you can get two days of internet for free rather than a single 24 period. I just did that last week on Brilliance.

Another great tip. Thanks.

Hi,

This will be my first cruise as a diamond member looking at the benifits listed it say use of bathrobes is this right?

will they be in room?

Thanks

The robes should be in your room when you arrive, but sometimes they have not come back from the laundry, so they come later.

Regarding a welcome party invitation, on a recent cruise we did not receive an invitation to any welcome party. We are eligible for the general party as well as a top-tier event. We were in the casino and started to see lots of people walking towards the theater. I walked over to the staff collecting something at the theater and asked what the event was for. They tell me it is the welcome back party. I showed them my sea pass card and tell them I did not receive an invitation. They invite me into enjoy the event.

A day or so later while cleaning up papers, I was getting ready to discard a small card notice about an art event when I happened to turn the card over and see that there was an invitation to one of the crown and anchor parties.

So those who did not receive an invitation, perhaps it was printed on the back of something

Well I guess "Meet the Stars" means something different on each ship then.

On Freedom, it was nothing more than a time scheduled in the main theater to meet with whoever they decided to send. There was certainly no behind the scenes tour of anything although I probably wouldnt have been able to go anyway due to accessibility issues.

Our "stars" were a married couple that was on the ice skating team. Pretty interesting to hear about their life on board the ship :) They get quiet a bit more Freedom than most of the crew does. I enjoyed it.

Meet the Stars and a Behind the Scenes tour are two separate things. Tour isn't until diamond, meet the stars is at gold.

Maybe I should have quoted who i was replying to :) Someone posted above that Meet the Stars was a backstage tour of the entertainment venues. Thats several times Ive seen that posted here. That wasnt my experience at all is all I was trying to convey. I did enjoy their stories though.

Thanks for clarifying. Personally, I'd still be interested in Meet the Stars (since we're just Gold level). I do find it all fascinating. I remember on my first cruise talking with our waiter and just what it was like for him....mostly work and no play. But interesting to hear what it's really like.

It was $15 a day unlimited on the Anthem earlier this month. Also don't buy it beforehand as the discount won't be applied online only once onboard.

  • 4 months later...

Got a question about boarding. I and my wife are Platinum. My daughters are coming along in the same cabins (we booked two) so they are also considered Platinum. However, I also booked my elderly mother in law to come as well at the same time as ours with our TA. This is her first cruise.

My question is, can she take advantage of my Platinum status so she doesn't have to wait in the long line? Otherwise we will just have to wait with her. And if so, how do I let RCCL know this...at port or can I link her to my reservation some how?

Thanks

They will probably allow you party to stay together in the Platinum line, however if they don't, then just stay with your mother-in-law in whatever line they want her to go in. There is not a huge difference.

Linking will have no effect on check-in line.

Just back from grandeur of the seas out of Baltimore. My girls (almost 11) had their own cabin as well as my mil. It was their first rccl cruise. We just all got in the gold line and checked in without an issue. Hopefully we can do that as plantium next cruise with mil as well
