New Central Park and Boardwalk view cabin Perks Starting Nov 2016

I remember Royal once offered a perk for a private rock climbing wall session. It was a while back and I don't remember what the details were, but it was virtually impossible to get a slot for it. I hope they have this figured out. Curious to see how it goes.

In theory it should be easier to do on Oasis. Have 1 wall for private sessions and the other for open climbing, however that would require more staffing and last time on Allure I don't recall the port side wall ever open and in use...

I had booked this cruise (Nov 5-8) long before this offer. I too had called my TA and she checked a few times and told me there should be something in my room, although it took her calling several times to RCL. So I was happy to report, the following in my room.

BTW, our sea pass was NOT given at check in. Rather we took our print out to board with and when we were allowed to our cabins, one sea pass was in a card that let us into our room, the other sea pass was in a card on the bed. Both had the soda package sticker on it. (I don't drink soda).

Neither my DH nor I drinks soda. We were hoping to substitute water. Was that a NO?

A letter stating the BW perks, soda package; johnny rockets for 4 (read the small print - please go to the hospitality desk to book this (ON BOARDING DAY) then bring this letter with you to JR.; and finally a walk climbing group lesson.

We are on Oasis not Harmony, so where is the Hospitality Desk we are supposed to go to to book our JR lunch? You stated we must do this boarding day, but how do I know which day I will want to eat lunch at JR? Almost not worth the trouble.

So my adult daughter got a few sodas. We didn't read the fine print and were going to use JR the last day. The hospitality desk is ONLY there the first day, ugh. The concierge in the D lounge told us we were out of luck. Then again, we found the Concierge was useless and loved to just tell people No, or sorry, no. We went to customer service and they said, that there is an indication that we are in the BW and just to go to JR. That is what we, and apparently lots of others on the last day at lunch did. They asked our room number, they took the paper but we were never given a bill or anything to sign.

Let me add something about the boardwalk balconies, which has always been our favorite on the Oasis class ships. The balcony doors on the Harmony does NOT keep the sound out as it does on the Allure and Oasis. It was just awful. We were the last aft balcony on DEck 10. A room we've had on the other two and never heard a thing when we would shut those doors. Our door did NOT keep the noise out at all.

Thanks for the information. I appreciate it.

Is Johnny Rockets open on boarding day for lunch? This would be a nice way to start the cruise instead of going to the Windjammer.

Look for the Day 1 Compass in this link:

It will show all the venues open on boarding day.

We are in a Boardwalk balcony on Oasis December 4th. My husband has purchased a drink package already and I don't drink anything but water so we are counting on the two free sofa packages for our kids. There had better be three cups waiting in our room when we board or I will be livid. I don't want to have to spend time waiting in line at guest services the first day to argue about this.

I would call and try to find out. They gave me cups for the kids after arguing at guest services. But they could only use the machines. No bar service.

They explained how they gave DW and I the soda package. If you look under drink package sticker. And that made sense to everyone but me. I gave up.

The JR's we just showed up and they zeroed out tab. They were very nice and even got a free milkshake after they didn't put the meat on the hamburger. Funniest part DD took 2 bites before I asked her if she got a vegetarian burger. It gave us a good laugh.

I haven't tried the rock wall.

I would somehow, just give up on the soda package, it took me a day, it just isn't worth it. It is a great ship and there is sooo much to do. And there soda taste horrible anyways. You and your family will have a great time.

That must have been so frustrating! I am sailing on the Harmony next week and we have a BW balcony. Several months ago, when I was considering purchasing alcohol drink packages for my husband and I, I called C&A and was told that the "free" soda package perk could be used by anyone in the stateroom. So, I went ahead and bought 2 adult drink packages for my husband and I with the intent of using 1 of the soda packages for our teen son and just wasting the other free package.

It is disappointing to read what you experienced. I do not want to purchase a soda package for my son while the 2 we should be entitled to go unused. I e-mailed RC about this last week and received the following response: "I am happy to confirm that you can apply the complimentary soda packages to any guest in the stateroom. Should you require any further assistance, please contact our Reservations Department at 1-800-327-6700 and we will be happy to help."

Of course, what guest services advises frequently does not reflect what actually happens on the ships.

A comment on this. I am an avid Diet Coke drinker and I noticed on our Freedom cruise last month that any DC I got that originated from the bar gun up by the WJ (WJ, Chops, Gio's) tasted horrible to the point of tasting more like Mr. Pibb then DC.

However the DC's I got from the MDR tasted fine as well as everything from any of the Freestyle machines...

So just give your son your husbands sea pass when he wants to go order a soda. Or just let him keep that sea pass all week. The only time your husband will really need it is for identification when getting on or off the ship.

Except that the kids seapasses are a different design and if the bartender scanned it his dad's picture would show up.

Whether or not the bartenders cared now that's a different story. Some might some might not.

Thanks for the suggestion but don't think it will work for us. My son is 16 and isn't with us all the time. He spends a lot of time in the teen club. There will be times when the 3 of us are together and we all want a drink (i.e., dinner). Since my husband has the select drink package, his card might have a symbol designating such which would alert bar staff that it is not my minor son's seapass.

Or give your son the refill mug, then he could fill up at the Freestyle machines and I have also seen bartenders at the pool bar filling up refill mugs from 2 liter bottles...

Can anyone advise what wine was offered in Central Park cabins with the new perk?

Thanks.

A bottle of St. Martin Reserve Merlot awaited me in my Central Park balcony cabin onboard Harmony. I don't drink Merlot so can't comment on taste. I had considered asking if they would swap it out for white wine, preferably a Pino Grigio, but never got around to it.

Also, when I got onboard, I had gone to Dining Hospitality Desk near Guest Services and tried to book Jamie's for free lunch that was included in the Eat, Drink, Play promotion. They knew nothing about it. But in my cabin, there was a letter about the promotion stating that I was also receiving an OBC of $30 which could be used for lunch at ANY of the restaurants or at the spa, shops, etc. Since I never got to Jamie's or bought anything onboard, mine got applied to my daily tips.

I had the same problem with my deck 11 Central Park balcony cabin #11643 on Harmony. Even with the balcony door locked, I could clearly hear the band up on the pool deck. This was my first experience with a neighborhood balcony so I thought maybe it was because we were docked in Nassau and the freakish way sound can travel.

I probably could call RCCL but I'm sure this board has my answer. I booked the Allure last month for next April. Had no idea about this promotion until I read this board. Is this an automatic perk for all sailings? I already purchased a drink package for myself and my spouse is not a soda drinker. I guess a lunch in Johnnie Rockets is OK. Not sure what else. I booked a Central Park balcony, deck 12, mid ship.

Thanks

Complimentary lunch for two at Giovanni's Table.

It's automatic.

Are you sure, this new perk is automatic. My hubby had seen it and was told when he called C&A that we did not qualify, yet we are in a Boardwalk Balcony cabin. We booked our cruise back on June 1, 2015 on the very first day it was available.

Hi Paulette. Ourusualbeach is correct. It's automatic. But it just started with the November 5th sailing, which I booked back on June 2, 2015 too.

Not for me, but I thought of you when I looked up at the water slides on Harmony. I did brave The Abyss however. :D

We used ours for Johnny Rockets, We had some family and friends on Central Park and Boardwalk and we all used it at Johnny rockets, we had a family of 4 in one of the Central park Balconies and was supposed to be for two at Jamie's but cover the four of them at Johnny Rockets, also the Eat Drink Play sheet stated that could be use at Sabor, Jamie's or Johnny Rockets or for Spa. someone posted that the $30 credit was used for their gratuities.

Interesting. I wonder if that is because it's the initial roll out of the program and they're still figuring it out.
