New Central Park and Boardwalk view cabin Perks Starting Nov 2016

My guess would be they are having trouble selling them. I've seen huge drops on those categories of balcony and they are usually the cheapest ones to book already. Privacy isn't great, people across can see in on you as well as everyone walking in CP or BW can look up at you sitting on the balcony. No views of the ocean either. A small plus would be that you can see aqua from some of the BW balconies.

If I may... we've stayed in one before, and are booked for a CP balcony on Oasis. We love them. Cheaper than an oceanview balcony. Yep, there can be privacy issues. But, we close the curtain, no biggie. It actually has a bit of an urban feel. That's fine. Your OV balcony isn't private... neighbors can look over. Especially on some ships in some categories. And at hotels with balconies, people can see you. So, we are ok with it. And, in the evening, you can sit on your balcony and listen to the music from down in Central Park. Can't do that in an OV balcony.

I know folks love seeing the ocean, and for many its a big draw. But, for us... it just isn't. No issues, no worries, no judgments.

The thing is, there are pluses and minuses. They aren't for everyone. To each their own.

I only hope they are having problems selling them and keep reducing prices and adding benefits! We'll keep booking 'em!

We totally agree! We love the BW balconies! Can see the ocean behind us and watch all of the action on the boardwalk below! Pretty easy to just close those curtains for privacy!;)

On the allure now, I was told when booked that the soda package would be for my kids, since me and my wife get drink package. And that is not the case guest service said it is non-transferable or upgradeable. I asked not to transfer just put the package were it is supposed to go. Why would you give lunch for 4 if the intention wasn't to have 4 people in cabin? They told us just order soda for the kids using our cards?

Not sure what lunch has to do with it, but it's ridiculous if the guest can't decide who gets the two soda packages.......

There are three of us on Allure in January in a boardwalk cabin. I have a drink package and we planned on wife and daughter getting the soda packages. I guess it will be interesting to see how something that should be simple actually works out........

Neighborhood VIEW is not the same as Neighborhood BALCONY.....

What is the difference between view and neighborhood? The RCCL website says view in the big print and neighborhood in the small print.

I have a central park balcony on my upcoming Oasis cruise.

View does not have a balcony, just a window with a view of CP or Boardwalk.

It seems like they are assigning the soda package to guests one and two. Even though you should be able to decide once on board it might be easier to call Royal now and make sure your wife and daughter are listed as the first 2 guests.

I am in a BW balcony on our January 2017 cruise which includes the soda package. I asked if I could apply the charge for my soda package against the charge of the alcohol package and C&A told me no. So, for me, the soda package is worthless.

I also asked if we would have 2 lunches at JR as there are only 2 of us in the cabin, (called C&A again tonight) and was told the JR package was for UP TO 4, not for 4, so we could go once. I am ok with that, but would have also been ok with having 2 lunches there.

If it is only for up to 4 then I would invite a party of 2 that are walking in at the same time as you or possibly someone from your roll call to share your table and have a free lunch compliments of Royal instead of letting it go to waste.

Did you see this recent CC news article that talks about additional benefits

In other Royal Caribbean news, the line will offer free food and drink to passengers who book Central Park and Boardwalk view cabins on all three Oasis-class ships (Oasis of the Seas, Allure of the Seas and Harmony of the Seas). Starting November 2016, cruisers with views of Central Park will enjoy lunch for two at Jamie's Italian on Harmony of the Seas or Giovanni's Table on Oasis and Allure of the Seas, a free bottle of wine upon arrival and special perks in the Casino Royale. Passengers in Boardwalk-view cabins will receive lunch or dinner for four at Johnny Rockets, a soda beverage package for two and a private session on the ships' 38-foot tall rock climbing wall

So they will hike the prices and people will think they are getting something.

I am currently on the Oasis and stopped in Johnny Rockets to clarify the offer. It is one use, up to four people but the people must be from the cabin the offer was issued to. You CANNOT bring friends, only occupants of your cabin.

Thanks for posting.

Would have been nice of Royal to post all the terms and conditions when they announced this

Can anyone advise what wine was offered in Central Park cabins with the new perk?

Thanks.

I should be finding out soon, I would guess plain house wine at best. I wander if you get it with your lunch?

We are in a Boardwalk balcony on Oasis December 4th. My husband has purchased a drink package already and I don't drink anything but water so we are counting on the two free sofa packages for our kids. There had better be three cups waiting in our room when we board or I will be livid. I don't want to have to spend time waiting in line at guest services the first day to argue about this.

I had booked this cruise (Nov 5-8) long before this offer. I too had called my TA and she checked a few times and told me there should be something in my room, although it took her calling several times to RCL. So I was happy to report, the following in my room.

BTW, our sea pass was NOT given at check in. Rather we took our print out to board with and when we were allowed to our cabins, one sea pass was in a card that let us into our room, the other sea pass was in a card on the bed. Both had the soda package sticker on it. (I don't drink soda).

A letter stating the BW perks, soda package; johnny rockets for 4 (read the small print - please go to the hospitality desk to book this (ON BOARDING DAY) then bring this letter with you to JR.; and finally a walk climbing group lesson.

So my adult daughter got a few sodas. We didn't read the fine print and were going to use JR the last day. The hospitality desk is ONLY there the first day, ugh. The concierge in the D lounge told us we were out of luck. Then again, we found the Concierge was useless and loved to just tell people No, or sorry, no. We went to customer service and they said, that there is an indication that we are in the BW and just to go to JR. That is what we, and apparently lots of others on the last day at lunch did. They asked our room number, they took the paper but we were never given a bill or anything to sign.

Let me add something about the boardwalk balconies, which has always been our favorite on the Oasis class ships. The balcony doors on the Harmony does NOT keep the sound out as it does on the Allure and Oasis. It was just awful. We were the last aft balcony on DEck 10. A room we've had on the other two and never heard a thing when we would shut those doors. Our door did NOT keep the noise out at all.

FYI: I called C&A and asked if they could assign the two soda packages to the wife and daughter (I already purchased a drink package). Was told no, they will take care of that "on the ship"....... I got the impression she really didn't know anything for sure except for the fact she couldn't find a way to do anything at this time.

I remember Royal once offered a perk for a private rock climbing wall session. It was a while back and I don't remember what the details were, but it was virtually impossible to get a slot for it. I hope they have this figured out. Curious to see how it goes.
