Stratheden Posted April 11, 2016 #276 Share Posted April 11, 2016 I love the Gala night menu, that was the exact same one we had on the Maasdam five nights ago. Unfortunately it is the same one they have had for 12 months. You would think they could update it now and then. We didn't go to the Gala night last week - we looked at the menu and decided to give it a miss. Nothing wonderful about it.

I have to agree with you we are not at all impressed with the food and menus I had thought maybe it would be just a step up for the Koningsdam overall quality seems lower than our last NCL cruise so we are a bit disappointed in that respect. Thought for this ship they would turn it up a notch ☹️
Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted April 11, 2016 Author #279 Share Posted April 11, 2016 (edited) Well so far I am not impressed with the Neptune Lounge. The only thing I like about it are the shelves with all the food instead of a dome. I don't see a toaster -- guess there isn't one. KK, no there is no toaster also nothing offered to toast. I few croissants and muffins. Also nothing is refrigerated or even on ice. The milk is just sitting out as well as the cheese that looked very dried up already at 8 am. Lots of boxes of cereal. Smoked salmon did not look appealing either having sat out. My coffee pods for regular coffee were not replaced last night but they do not have extras in the NL. But would make sure my cabin steward gives me extra. Here more info the interactive TV on the Koningsdam will not have your account you must log onto your smart phone or tablet to see everything. As well as they will not be providing the menus because the link on your tablet or phone they claim has the menus for each night on on line only but so far the sample menus have not changed. Nor are they on the TV. They also are NOT displaying them in front of the Main Dining Room on either deck. So it is a guess what we are having [emoji14] On the subject of TV no forward or after cameras to see from on the TV. We have missed that. But like the huge map showing where we are. It's starting to clear up and look like a nice [emoji1303] Edited April 11, 2016 by LAFFNVEGAS
teamflames Posted April 11, 2016 #280 Share Posted April 11, 2016 Negative? I see it as I see it. I never said I would sail in the ship. So why the need to post so much?
Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted April 11, 2016 Author #281 Share Posted April 11, 2016 I really wish that tours told you when there were lots of narrow steep winding roads [emoji37] I sadly only suffer from motion sickness on busses when very windy. I did take Bonine but has not helped much Otherwise as you can see it has beautiful scenery.
Krazy Kruizers Posted April 11, 2016 #282 Share Posted April 11, 2016 Thanks Lisa The idea of milk and cheese sitting out with no kind of refrigeration -- doesn't sound healthy to me. Your pictures bring back memories of when we toured Europe (as well as cruises).
Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted April 11, 2016 Author #283 Share Posted April 11, 2016 (edited) We are back from our tour went to the Lido to get something to eat but at 1:30 most everything was closed down so got burgers at the Dive In then did some more exploring of the ship. First photo was taken when we returned to the ship. Edited April 11, 2016 by LAFFNVEGAS

Still waiting to come across my favorite ice cream: Cookie Dough! I think I should just give up, never having seen it at sea! Just following up on the question regarding the casino and smoking (is it allowed and are there non-smoking sections, tables, or nights). No rush - whenever you're passing by and can make note of that. Thanks! Tom

teamflames Posted April 11, 2016 #291 Share Posted April 11, 2016 Hi Lisa, sorry if you have already discussed this but how does access to the spa work? We will be first time HAL cruisers, do you have to buy a pass for your entire cruise? or can you purchase a one off day pass? We would like to visit once or twice but unlikely to use it everyday for a 3 week sailing. thanks for all the pics James
SabreSailor Posted April 11, 2016 #292 Share Posted April 11, 2016 Hi Lisa - Think I may have broken the code on the ladies make-up area - there appears to be a panel in the desk by the window that lifts up and exposes a lighted make-up area - much like the ones on the old Windstars - correct? The talk about the absence of windows in the Neptune Lounge - my recollection of the Lounges in the Vista and Signature ships was that while there was some glass in the walls that face the aisles, it was all frosted so there was no looking in or out.... Thanks again for all the pictures!

Thanks again for all the pictures! That's right. On the older ship like the S class the windows are top to floor, clear class. With the frosted class on the new ships you can't see, but again, there an impression at there is light in the tunnel.
dot73 Posted April 11, 2016 #296 Share Posted April 11, 2016 Lisa, thank you for the picture of the gelato bar. I guess I better add about $100 to my budget because there is no way I can pass by without getting one. There was one day in Venice that I stopped at 4 gelato bars. Yummy. Rare 3rdGenCunarder Posted April 11, 2016 #297 Share Posted April 11, 2016 Catching up after being out all day, so sorry for comments on "old info." I'm surprised that the food area in the Neptune lounge isn't refrigerated. When I saw the picture, I thought it was one of those open-front cold cases you sometimes see in stores. Sounds like very limited morning pastries. Even without a toaster, there should be more than you saw. It strikes me as odd that the NL really doesn't stock extra pods. We got 2 of each type each day on Oosterdam. Didn't need more than the stewards left for us, but if we'd wanted more the lounge would have been the first place I'd have gone. So what do you do to get more pods, call housekeeping or room service? At least the lounge still has the usual big coffee machine. The loungers in the thermal suite appear to be upholstered. Are those heated? Thanks for posting all those great photos!
Adoptionmsw Posted April 11, 2016 #298 Share Posted April 11, 2016 Is the gelato bar an extra fee? It looks wonderful but I am not inclined to pay extra for food on the ship with the exception of at least one trip to the Pinnacle. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Yes, it is an extra charge for the gelato. Someone had posted a picture before of the gelato bar but the prices were hard to see. I imagine it will be $2.00-$3.00 per scoop. I'll just give up something else in order to pay for the gelato.:D
Cruisinetta Posted April 11, 2016 #300 Share Posted April 11, 2016 Hi Lisa. Enjoying your pics from the Kdam. You know the question I have....how about activities. Would I be bored on this ship? Also I booked another cruise while you have been gone. If it is not in your mailbox when you get home, let me know and I will send you the info. Have a great cruise.
