OK, So Maybe Carnival Isn’t As Bad As I Thought – So Sue Me

This was the first of only two things that I thought Carnival could have improved upon - the sign in process. Only part of the area was covered and we had to stand out in a relatively light rain waiting for the line to move. On the positive side, it did give us all something to talk about!:D

At least the computers were under shelter.

They eventually shut down the computers and moved everybody into the large area on the far side and then into the building. This was the last photo I was able to take of the sign in process before security came over and informed me that if was forbidden to take photos. I thought for a minute that they were going to ask me to delete the photos, but they didn't. Once we got into the building, the sign in process speeded up considerably and we were in our room in less than a half hour.

That outside check in is quite unusual. I thought that Carnival used the old Spruce Goose building for their check in. Glad to see you figured out how to get you photos up. Looking forward to the rest.

Sailor......I started out this morning reading your review from 2007 of the Dream/Nightmare. I had tears in my eyes I laughed so hard. Clicked on this review from your signature, and it just keeps coming!

My gosh, you have a great sense of humor, and writing style. Glad you were able to get the photos to work! :D

Looking forward to more!

Thanks for your help. My biggest problem was my lack of computer skills. I kept looking for "upload". I logged in and out twice before it dawned on me that maybe it was an icon instead of the actual word! Once I got that figured out I followed your excellent directions and Bob's your Uncle. I'll start editing and loading more photos tomorrow.

Thanks again,

Jack

Glad I could help. "Upload" used to actually say upload, but in their quest to be cool, Flickr has been changing a lot recently. Upload is now a "Cloud" icon. So much easier to figure out than actually saying Upload! Anywho, can't wait to see more of your photos. The Miracle looks like a nice ship.

I am literally LOL at my desk at work:p.

This is hands down the funniest and most entertaining review I have ever read here on CC:D.:)

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.

Do you write books? You should be writing books. Someone should pay you to go on cruises and review them. By far the best review I've ever read on here. Hilarious!

No books, but I would never turn down a free cruise!:D

This is the abuilding they moved us into to escape from the rain. I have no idea who designed it, but it looked pretty plain inside. The long bridge was the gangway to the ship.

This is the same building but with a little more of the Long beach skyline. That is the Queen Mary in the background.

If I remember correctly that was the building that housed the Spruce Goose in 1988 when DH and I were on our honeymoon and toured it and the Queen Mary.

You are correct!

Thanks Sailor Jack, your review gave me a good laugh before bedtime last night...and I didn't even finish reading it. I am at work now so I'll finish it later. If I do it now they may call someone to escort me out of the building. :D

Thanks, I wondered what that building was. In retrospect I think Jaspero also mentioned that there was a place for the Spruce Goose near the port...I just didn't connect the dots.

A couple of photos of the Queen Mary. I was a little disappointed in the fact that it looked a little run down on the outside, but I hear it is very nice inside. We had thought about staying here before the cruise but opted for a hotel that was a little less expensive. For a few dollars more we will stay here next time because of the convenience. You don't need to go through the hassle of waiting for a shuttle - you simply walk over to the check in when you are ready. If anyone else has stayed here I would be interested in your opinion.

You can see from the previous photos how close it is to the Carnival building.

I did not take a lot of photos of the ship, but I was really impressed with our first impression of the ship when we stepped off of off the gangway and entered the atrium. Glass paneled elevators and a great band playing.

In the theatre there were two weddings before the ship left port. A couple of the public rooms were off limits due to the receptions. Very cool...while I have heard of weddings on board I had never seen one. Congratulations to both couples!

The Main Dining Room - Baccus. If you recall from my review I mentioned the prevalence of grapes and purple. There certainly was lots of both.:)

My oh my - that was absolutely hilarious ... loved reading it (and now I know I'll never try to write a review because mine would be SO boring compared to this).

Running off to throw my T-shirt in the wash now....there was one point I laughed and it made coffee come out my nose.......:p

When I get a chance, I'm going back to read your other reviews......

Ok, I finished your review. I am now off to search for your others. Oh, another wasted Saturday afternoon. 😀

I have been on the Carnival Miracle, my first Carnival cruise and it was great. Went to Hawaii for my birthday in 2014. Once you get used to the grapes...

Oh my gosh. This was hilarious and such a good read (and that's saying a lot since I just had surgery on one of my eyes and I can see nothing but blur in it, but I pressed on because the entertainment was one in a million).

Thanks so much for this review. It brightened my day (it's raining here) and gave me something to concentrate on (while the kids are downstairs tearing up the house). Well worth it. :D
