GMECruiser Posted April 25, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2016 Can someone tell me where the Muster drill is held on the Crown? Is it on deck like Carnival or in the auditorium like HAL? Hoping for the auditorium. Thanks
CruiserBruce Posted April 25, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 25, 2016 HAL does theirs on deck, although rumor has it their new ship (Koningsdam) will muster inside. Princess does theirs inside.
tonit964 Posted April 25, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 25, 2016 Can someone tell me where the Muster drill is held on the Crown? Is it on deck like Carnival or in the auditorium like HAL? Hoping for the auditorium. Thanks I was on the Crown last month. There are different muster stations depending on where your cabin is. They are held indoors, ours was in Club Fusion, however you do need to take your life jacket with you.
memoak Posted April 25, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 25, 2016 All musters on Princess ships are done inside in various public spaces (based on where your stateroom is)
LoriPhil Posted April 25, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 25, 2016 Not on-deck - There are various locations throughout the ship, like Explorer Lounge or Wheelhouse Bar for example. Your location is identified on the back of your cabin door. Crew will scan your cruise card to register that you attended. Bring your life jacket from your cabin but carry it - don't wear it. Putterdude Posted April 25, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 25, 2016 They are held inside and usually occur about 3:30 pm, you will be told in advance of the time and where you are to muster. Princess still requires you to bring along your life jacket. You also need to bring along your cruise card so it can be scanned when you arrive at the location you are assigned to. OCruisers Posted April 25, 2016 #7 Share Posted April 25, 2016 :) Happily, no going outside! Depending on your cabin location, they'll be at a bar/lounge on Deck 7 ... and normally don't take very long. You'll need to take your cruise card to be scanned and carry (don't wear) your life jacket.
KruzPrincess Posted April 25, 2016 #8 Share Posted April 25, 2016 HAL does muster outdoors. Thank you Princess for doing yours indoors.
Astro Flyer Posted April 25, 2016 #9 Share Posted April 25, 2016 HAL does muster outdoors. Thank you Princess for doing yours indoors. I feel the same & prefer the Princess procedure...a call to muster is not the same as a call to abandon ship which is very rare. By mustering inside when necessary they will escort passengers to an available survival craft. I've never understood mustering at a specific survival craft which in an evacuation may not be available.
GMECruiser Posted April 25, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted April 25, 2016 Thank you for your replies. On my Carnival cruises, they were always outside and very crowded. On my HAL cruise in 2012 to Panama Canal, it was in the auditorium on the Zuiderda. It was so much better inside.
peety3 Posted April 25, 2016 #11 Share Posted April 25, 2016 Can someone tell me where the Muster drill is held on the Crown? Is it on deck like Carnival or in the auditorium like HAL? Hoping for the auditorium. Step 1: go to your cabin, and grab your life jacket. You'll see a big letter painted on it, corresponding to the code for your muster station. Step 2: read the back of your cabin door, which will tell you the actual space used for your muster station. Step 3: relocate yourself and your life jacket to said muster station. It'll be a public space indoors on the Promenade level, or for some ships it could be on the level below Promenade.
skynight Posted April 25, 2016 #12 Share Posted April 25, 2016 Can someone tell me where the Muster drill is held on the Crown? Is it on deck like Carnival or in the auditorium like HAL? Hoping for the auditorium. Thanks Not like HAL or Carnival. All muster stations on the Crown Princess are inside in the lounges. Your specific muster station will be shown on the inside of your cabin door and is also marked on the life vest. Muster stations vary depending on the location of your cabin. Carry don't wear your life vest to the muster drill. You will be instructed how to put it on at the end of the drill. Your cruise card will be scanned to record that you attended the drill. If you want a seat at the muster drill arrive about 10 mins early. The drill takes about 20/30 mins.
victory2020 Posted April 25, 2016 #13 Share Posted April 25, 2016 Usually in a lounge but we were in room A537 & had it on the Promenade deck where the photos are displayed - no seating.
BabySarge Posted April 25, 2016 #14 Share Posted April 25, 2016 As others have said muster drills on all Princess ships are held indoors. Another note about the life jackets is to please remember that the last time the whistle was cleaned is probably when it was installed on the life jacket and who knows whose mouth was last on it. It always boggles my mind the number of adults and others who appear to be fairly intelligent that put that whistle in their mouths and blow on it. Now, if I was truly in danger or in the water and needed to get help I wouldn't hesitate to blow on that sucker, but otherwise.....not happening!
