FTTF Disasterous waste of money

Looks like Carnival continues with their Company policy of poor service modeled after WalMart and McDonalds

It must be exhausting to be you.

To post the same gibberish on every thread over and over and over again.

It's kind of sad actually.

You mention removing the tips....did you also have issues with the service staff (wait staff, bartenders, room steward and staff)?

probably not. sounds like a revenge tactic.

Real original. You're losing your touch. Maybe it's time for another name?

I was on the Conquest April 2 sailing and that too had a late start to embarkation at 12:30PM or so. I agree that FLL's priority waiting areas are like a small town's bus depot you'd rather forget.

I love this! Great simile!

I know that many say it's the beginning of their vacation so they muddle through. While I agree, I have a fix - how about bringing a few staff out to the "bus depot" with trays full of drinks of the day. Sitting there waiting would be a little less aversive and you don't really wait long enough for people to be able to drink too much and become belligerent. I know I would buy one or two!

@Bakersdozen,

NO you are wrong!

There is first a self assist for priority folks(platinum, diamond,FTTF)

They get led of the ship before anyone else.

We have been the first people off the ship in several ports that way.

I've been platinum for several years and have been the very 1st person off a ship once (I know, BFD). But I did that as a walk off, trailing my one carry on behind me, not as a Plat.

In the cruises that I've been on with Carnival, walk offs of any gender, race creed or denomination get off the ship first, followed by Priority Zone 1 Diamonds and Plats, then so on down the Zone Numbers.

Walking off the ship as self-assist and into that zig zag cluster of people queued up to go through customs. What a freaking mess.

Sorry it didn't work out for you' date=' but I'll continue to "waste" my money since our Conquest FTTF experience, along with other ships was flawless. Also I have a feeling your list of issues were probably written before you stepped foot on the boat.[/quote']

The OP is a long time cruiser and I trust that what he says is the truth. I doubt he spent the time going on a cruise to just post a fake report. We all have our own expectations and this one didn't meet his.

How does your flawless experience with FTTF have any bearing on what Golf went through? It amazes me sometimes here how everyone has to defend carnival as if a bad trip couldn't possibly happen because they had the cruise of a lifetime. We all see the world differently and I for one appreciate that in others.

Golf...sorry about your trip and happy sailing on Princess. I will have to try that line one day when kids get older [emoji4]

I think the Conquest has real issues. I was on in January. It was a cruise that I actually considered invoking Carnival's Vacation Guarantee.

We sailed her in March and although the trip was good overall, there were a few issues. Not enough for me to hate the trip or not sail Carnival again, but it was enough to realize that once the kids are older I would look at different cruise lines. For now, it's affordable.

Our Conquest experience in February caused us to consider Princess for the next cruise. Four previous Carnival cruises. Second to worst. Two best were on the Liberty in 07 and 13. Worst Fascination in 12,and Conquest this year. Embark at Port Everglades, disgraceful. Funny how Conquest is singled out by customs, and or Coast Guard every single time it arrives back in port. Odd. Onboard experience not very relaxing either.

How was evening shows? I've read some ppl say there are hardly any and others willnsay there was a show every night. Don't know who to believe? Ship is local and priced right. I can avoid embark and debark hassles easily enough

An example of the idiocy we saw: The Funtimes suggested that you grab a book , come and hang out on the deck 3 promenade. This one of our favoriate areas to sit. It usually quiet, shady and has an unobstructed view of the water. The next day we went out there were far more people than loungers. I counted, 9 loungers on the non smoking side and 14 on the other. If you are going to promote something, prepare for it!

WOW -- That's really bad, we had somewhat of an organized embarkation in that they checked boarding passes as we were boarding. The Suites and FTTF people boarded next and then zones. I did notice that the zones were mixed in and there wasn't anyone to lead the passengers row by row.

We had a different spot to meet for excursions and tenders -- the theater for priority so didn't wait in a regular line - we got on the first tender on HMC.

We did arrive at port late -- I'm used to waking up already at port. We didn't dock until after 8:00. Disembarkation was chaotic..customs was awful but not any different from RCI so I didn't attribute that to Carnival.

Hopefully you'll have a better cruise next time whatever cruise line or ship you choose. I wouldn't be very happy either if I encountered all the problems that you did.

I would like to know how a wedding could be taking place between embarkation and debarkation. I highly doubt that would be possible. I am not shy about speaking up and would have demanded the priority tender.

I don't know how Carnival does it but normally, other cruise lines will separate the wedding parties and board them through a separate entrance so that the the bridal party can get ready and take pictures.

Like I said before, our instructions on the Fun Times said to meet at the theater for priority tendering.

When was the last time you went on a Carnival Cruise? We actually were surprised to get better and friendlier service than we had at our last two RCI cruises.

When was the last time you went to McDonald's or WalMart? You appear to be someone who shops at Nordstrom's and eats burgers at Emeril's.

On both the Miracale, the Spirit when she was still in California and the Conquest, there is a meeting place for priority folks(platinum, diamond, FTTF) . It is usually in the dining room . You are told that if you carry your luggage off you can meet there and then will be escorted off the ship first.

After that they do the other self assist people but we have walked in line with a staff person on each cruise off the ship while everyone else is still waiting to line up to do their self assist debarkation.

This is not a point to argue but is the procedure that is used. Perhaps it was different before FTTF but now this is the procedure.

Haha that's what I was thinking . 60 bucks and he's mad about the coast guard drill. Mad that he didn't get off the ship before the self assist and all the people who have really spent money to get off first. And by all means , complain that they took your contraband steamer.... Did they steal the vodka in your luggage also? Lo

What in the hell does you not getting on the ship or into port fast enough have to do with the people who waited on you tirelessly, making your bed, drinks, food and serving them to you.. the ones cleaning up after you, working 16 hours a day so that you can enjoy the life you do?

The steward that changed your towels every day, was he the one getting married and holding up your embarkation?

The waitress that served you every night, is she the one who told you to go down stairs and wait in a long line to get into port?

NO!

Stop feeling entitled. Start being blessed that you're able to cruise.

There are far more important things in life to worry about, like only getting to see your wife and children once every 10 months because you're working 90 hours a week for pennies, because entitled big mouthes feel the need to take out everything on your paycheck.

What does a long time cruiser have to do with this? Op said he voted against cruising Carnival but it was a group decision. That speaks volumes to me. So I stand by what I said. Moving on, I hope Princess gives him more of what he's looking for.

Agree completely. But nobody can post a negative review about Carnival without getting a lot of backlash. I wonder if the other cruiselines' threads are like that. I haven't paid close enough attention to know.

Regarding the steamer, perhaps the OP didn't know it was a prohibited item. Regarding the OP being tempted to remove tips, which they made it sound like they didn't do: sure, it wouldn't be right to remove the tips for people who didn't provide a poor service. But I'm not a perfect person. Once or twice in my life:rolleyes:, I have been tempted to do the wrong thing in situations when I got upset, so I can't throw stones at someone else who also got tempted to do the wrong thing. Or maybe the OP was tempted to only remove the portion of the tips that goes to guest services, which might have been warranted here.

Doesn't every ship have to go through random Coast Guard expections every so often? And about how often do they occur?
