osborne66 Posted May 15, 2016 #26 Share Posted May 15, 2016 Well I'm not in the younger crowd but like to be "young at heart" - thus my joy of door decorating. :D Well done Jane - love the door decorating.
awhfy Posted May 15, 2016 #27 Share Posted May 15, 2016 I used a magnetic dry erase board on the wall beside the door. Great for notes (I.e., casino, shopping, spa, etc). Saves a ton of looking for folks. Our room steward loved it & couldn't believe it when I gave it to him after the cruise. Oh, I also have a themed (small) sign on the door, DH depends on it to find his way "home"...
kitty9 Posted May 15, 2016 #28 Share Posted May 15, 2016 On our last Equinox cruise, we had an obnoxious, out of control family with a number of teens, and they went around the ship taking all door decorations. So, I would never put anything of value on the door.

cannongate Posted May 16, 2016 #31 Share Posted May 16, 2016 (edited) I often decorating my door. It sure makes it easy to find the room late at night once I get to the right deck. Edited May 16, 2016 by cannongate
Islandgirl4242 Posted May 16, 2016 #32 Share Posted May 16, 2016 I usually put something on our door....no matter the cruiseline. We sailed the Summit over Christmas and I put a little stocking on our door (using a magnet)....and my husband said "that's it?" It was because of what I read here on Cruise Critic--some people were downright miserable with the comments. From now on, I don't care....this is my cruise, too, and I will decorate my door. :D You go, girl!!!:D
queenofcruise Posted May 16, 2016 #33 Share Posted May 16, 2016 Decorate our doors ,usually use a collage of pictures I've printed from my computer. ..last one was anniversary cruise for our 27th anniversary on Celebrity Century our cabin happened to be by the bridge and the officers seemed to get a kick from looking at the pics ( which spanned several special times in our life) anyway, we had the pleasure of being invited to the Captains table for dinner ,coincidence or not it was a very special evening...I love seeing the special moments people are celebrating. We used the removable adhesive, no damage to the door whatsoever. .. K.T.B. Posted May 16, 2016 #34 Share Posted May 16, 2016 (edited) The thing is..... Jane drinks. A LOT. So she needs to do everything she can to find her cabin. This is why she does it. The bread crumbs down the hallway are a bit much though.... :D (yeah, I'm teasing her. Not even close to being serious!) ;) Edited May 16, 2016 by K.T.B. GottaKnowWhen Posted May 16, 2016 #35 Share Posted May 16, 2016 We have never done this button plan on it this time? Do you tape things to the door or use magnets? No.

So here is just an example of how awesome Cruise Critic is - Kevin and I have never met - but we WILL in just a little over a week! :D Kevin and his DW and I and my DH are on the same sailing out of Vancouver to Alaska. Through our roll call we have become friends. Kevin is kind enough to overlook my Moose poster that will be on my cabin door - and I'll wear sun glasses to guard against his shirts. ;) So cheers Kevin - meet you in the bar!!! Edited May 16, 2016 by Jane2357

Lsimon Posted May 16, 2016 #38 Share Posted May 16, 2016 We've always made door signs by printing them on magnetic paper using our computer printer. On some ships the doors are metal the magnets will stick to. Unfortunately the S class ship's doors are not, but the corridor walls are so we stick the signs right next to the door on S class ships. There has always been debate on these boards between those who feel this is fun and those who feel it is tacky. We enjoy fun thing a lot more than complaining about things that do not impact us. smtcan Posted May 16, 2016 #40 Share Posted May 16, 2016 (edited) Door decorating is not my style, but I have no problem with others doing it. I will admit that a decorated door reminded me which way to turn to find our cabin when I got off the elevator on our recent TA. ChucktownSteve Posted May 16, 2016 #42 Share Posted May 16, 2016 Cruise Critic's worst nightmare! A dress code thread for doors! ROFLMAO :D On the same cruise I've seen door decorations on deck 3 and deck 11 AQ class. I didn't think less of them. It in no way affected my own cruise enjoyment. If it did, there would be something seriously wrong with me. Well besides that. :p
marieps Posted May 16, 2016 #43 Share Posted May 16, 2016 I have only seen door decor on my one and only four day Constellation Caribbean cruise. It was a party cruise full of tavel agents and their clients. the theme seemed to be drinking, drinking...Never have seen this on European, Panama Canal cruises. Do people also decorate inside their cabin , their balcony, their hotel room doors precruise? I just do not get it. We string white xmas lights around our mirror as a night light, and hang some fun bunting as well. I guess we just like to make our room our own, instead of a generic copy of everyone else's. Yes, we did it on a European cruise too, and will do so out of Barcelona in October.
wallie5446 Posted May 16, 2016 #44 Share Posted May 16, 2016 I have used the door sign from Cruise Critic since 2003. Last yr one of the Lady Amigos made flip flop door decorations for all 3 of our Aqua level cabins.
