DRS/NC Posted July 31, 2016 #26 Share Posted July 31, 2016 Do? As little as possible! Yes -- read, nap, eat, attend the occasional lecture (if animal or nature- related), sit in the hot tub, watch the sea. Repeat! Love sea days!!!
LynnMW3 Posted July 31, 2016 Author #27 Share Posted July 31, 2016 Can anyone give an idea of what kind of weather we can expect on an eastbound Transatlantic in April? Will the balcony/pools be usable, or will it become too cool? Thanks to all!
satxdiver Posted July 31, 2016 #28 Share Posted July 31, 2016 We love sea days as it is a day of leisure. We have breakfast in the room via the hang tags/room service. Then it is off to the walking track, promenade or gym machines for some exercise before lunch in the MDR. The rest of the day is spent hanging out various locations, dinner in the MDR and then the shows or lounges. We usually love to sit and listen to the piano player or watch the activity in the piazza. It is just a laid back day with no schedules.

mrswallace2012 Posted July 31, 2016 #30 Share Posted July 31, 2016 I'm not a seasoned cruiser by any means, only 2 under my belt! However, we love sea days! I found a book in the library about wine, which I found very interesting and educational! My husband found a book to his liking, and we sat in the loungers with ever flowing drinks and we wasted a whole afternoon like that! I think we got up around 4 to get ready for dinner and drinks. I love sea days!

MsSoCalCruiser Posted July 31, 2016 #32 Share Posted July 31, 2016 I love Sea Days. To me a Sea Day is.... MUTS, shows, my Kindle, the casino, cookies :), lunch in the MDR, the Pub Lunch, and hanging out at the pool or sanctuary if the weather is nice. I sit in a cubicle all week so I also love to walk, a lot. I cannot wait until my next cruise... All Sea Days days, no ports :D

elliair Posted July 31, 2016 #34 Share Posted July 31, 2016 How long does it take you to walk 4 miles? We walk for 30 -40 minutes but then I get bored. At home at the mall we walk for an hour and go through the dept stores too so the scenery keeps changing. I do at least 1.5 hours at a fast pace. I strive for 10,000+ steps a day. I have a walk logger on my cell. Add in the stairs versus elevator throughout the day and you will log in at least 5+ miles a day. Keep moving. IsanTom Posted July 31, 2016 #36 Share Posted July 31, 2016 We normally entertain ourselves on TA's. Just relax and enjoy the sea days. Don't over plan because there will be plenty of activities going on around you! Have a few extra cocktails on these days.

indyrocks Posted July 31, 2016 #39 Share Posted July 31, 2016 The Sanctuary! And not just on sea days, either. It's been getting a bit pricey recently, be we love it. I can't walk as much as I used to, and often only with a cane, so I can't do many of the shore excursions or walk from the ship into town like I used to. A couple of times I haven't even left the ship during the cruise. My wife doesn't have the mobility issues that I have, so she can go off on her own (or not, if she prefers). And whether or not she goes ashore, she's back up in the Sanctuary for a healthy lunch and a not-so-healthy afternoon tea.

JWUC Posted July 31, 2016 #44 Share Posted July 31, 2016 There is quite a bit to do on sea days. We play pee-wee golf (if available and not too crowded). You could play basketball, swim, ping pong, shuffle board. We also play trivia. Or you could stay in your cabin and watch old episodes of the Love Boat. There is also the casino and bingo. Frequently a movie playing somewhere. Watch demonstrations or performances in the center of the ship. Different dining options and afternoon tea. Viv0828 Posted July 31, 2016 #48 Share Posted July 31, 2016 (edited) For those folks that enjoy walking, I recommend a Fitbit or one of its competitors. bendar06 Posted July 31, 2016 #49 Share Posted July 31, 2016 (edited) We are veterans of three Trans-Atlantic and one Trans-Pacific (Whittier to Beijing) cruises and we thoroughly enjoyed each one. There was always enough to do and people to meet. And we have another TA coming up later this year. I recommend that you take a highlighter with you so you can mark your selected activities in the Patter. Edited July 31, 2016 by bendar06
OCruisers Posted July 31, 2016 #50 Share Posted July 31, 2016 We can sit around and read or be together alone as much as we want at home so we enjoy the activities and socializing with others. :)
