cost to upgrade casino offer

I was told by the CAS group that the cost to upgrade from inside to outside or outside to balcony was a fixed rate even if the cost of the cruise drops.

yes.

here's an even worse fact:

if your free cruise is an Inside and upgrade to OV (+$90/person) or balcony (+$300/person), you still only get 1 promo choice because your base cabin was an Inside.

you dont get a 2nd promo choice that usual OV and balcony rooms get. :(

upgrade to OV might be worth it if you can get one of those with a huge window, and not a port hole.

w/o the 2nd freebie, definitely NOT worth the $$$ to upgrade to balcony.

With a comped cruise through CAS you can always get the highest category in the type your are comped for (except Haven). So if you are comped a balcony, you can get a BA if you wish. If you are comped an Oceanview, or pay up to an Oceanview, there are some great 'picture' Window cabins available as OA category.

And that's true- just the promos associated with your original comped cabin. However I was very pleasantly surprised with our very first comp that we even got the booking promo...Its not like they had to entice us to book:D

it USED to be the case on being able to get the highest category in the type your are comped for.

no more.

for my latest CAS certificate (May 2016):

I have an Inside cabin offer but cannot book I1 (family Inside).

it costs $50 more to book it.

Last year i was able to book I1 no problem.

i called and confirmed the +$50 fee. :(

the only difference between I1 and IA is that it's forward of the ship.

The Family Inside is not any bigger than IA, and some IA's also have bedding for 4 people.

not worth +$50.

you'd be MUCH better off in spending +$90 to get an OV.

Actually, this was very recently changed. Within the last couple of months. You now get the promos associated with the cabin you upgrade to.

At least this was true in June, unless they've changed things yet again!

And I should add that with a balcony comped, you can get a BA or BB etc, but not a B6. Those large balconies are pricey!

Hmmm....I hope that's still true, but my son just recently (last week) upgraded his inside comp to an OV and only got one comp. I'm going to advise him to call back and double-check. He would love to get that extra promo.

Booked comp cruise last week. We're given inside, upgraded to a balcony, but only one promo selection.

Still the same, which is awesome; booked a cruise a couple weeks ago. I always upgrade to a suite and use to just get the perks for a balcony or mini-suite and now I get all the perks.

It might just be Haven upgrades that include the promos associated with the upgraded cabin. I was comped an inside to Bermuda on the Breakaway, but paid to upgrade to an aft balcony. When I booked this spring, I asked about Haven upgrades, and was told to wait a few months because the upgrade program was changing and would soon include all of the offers for Haven. I called CAS back in July and upgraded again to Haven, and voila - all 5 promos.

did not even know you could upgrade from a CAS free Inside to haven.

How much was it?

You can upgrade to anything from anything with CAS as long as you're willing to pay for it. :) I've upgraded from OV to Haven suite previously. As far as price, I don't know the exact number off the top of my head, but it was right around $2300 each all in (for myself and DH). The cruise is still over a year away, and I think there's only one forward-facing penthouse left on our sailing. Even though on the surface looks like it only saved us about $700 total, when you throw in 2 UBP, 2 SDP, internet, and shore excursion credit - along with not paying the 18% on UBP/SDP - it works out to be a lot more. I'm very happy with the price.

I booked my first room with CAS last May and received an OV room. I waited 30 days out and called the upsale department. For $150/pp I upgraded to a balcony room. After that cruise this past May, I called to book a cruise for next May and was offered a balcony room. Told CAS I would prefer a suite for 4 (we're celebrating our anniversary and taking our 2 adult children for a vacation of a lifetime in Europe). They upgraded me to a suite for $1000/pp for my husband and I - 3&4 sail free and we received all the promos associated with a suite. I will wait 30 day out and call the upsale department to hopefully upgrade to a 2 bedroom suite. My experience with CAS so far has been exceptional.

Just booked with a friend who gets cas rate. (Total rewards cruise voucher) The all you can drink promo is included,but... Still have to pay $90.+ for a 7 day cruise for the service/gratuity portion of the drink promo.

We upgraded from inside to balcony and only get 1 choice of promos.

Well, maybe the promo change only applies if you upgrade to the Haven. We were offered a mini-suite and upgraded to the Haven and we were given all four promos that were offered at the time.

Hope this is still in effect. It was an added incentive to upgrade to the Haven!

I would call before the 18th and switch out the shore excursion credit for the pre paid gratuities.

It was worth it for us last summer on the Getaway. Three people in an inside for a week didn't match how I wanted to spend my one week of vacation(135 sqft vs 207). We had the 3rd person free(wasn't a choice back then) and $25 OBC and the casino drink cards. It was a fabulous vacation. Everyone has to consider their own analysis and do what works for them. Upcoming solo cruise on the Dawn, ecstatic with my inside cabin and price.

This was a change earlier this year. Your suppose to get the promos associated with your upgraded room.

He called CAS and was told you only got the promos associated with your upgrade if you had upgraded to Haven. Still only one promo for inside upgraded to oceanview. Has anyone gotten the additional promos for less than a Haven upgrade?
