Grego Posted November 10, 2016 #2 Share Posted November 10, 2016 Great ship. We loved doing the Alaskan voyage with her because we were able to see Kodiak, Sitka, Valdez along with the regular ports because of her size and the ability to dock there. msmoger Posted November 10, 2016 #3 Share Posted November 10, 2016 Thanks for posting. Basically, the ship has not changed all that much in terms of configuration. The renovation was primarily an upgrade in furniture, trim and amenities. The main change from my perspective (and not a great one in my opinion) is the replacement of the Club Bar with Barista, an upscale version of the IC. I'm guessing others will disagree. We've loved our cruises on the Ocean and Pacific Princesses. Hopefully the Pacific will remain in the fleet, at least for a while. :)

CruzinNoony Posted November 10, 2016 #5 Share Posted November 10, 2016 That was really interesting. We spent 35 days on her sailing up from Cape Town to Dover, England. It looks like they expanded the buffet area. Thank you for posting the pictures. :)
treesah Posted November 10, 2016 #6 Share Posted November 10, 2016 My first cruise was on the Tahitian Princess in 2004. We cruised French Polynesia and it was love at first sight. Thank you for bringing up such happy memories.
sammiedawg Posted November 10, 2016 #7 Share Posted November 10, 2016 We didn't experience this ship on Princess but we recently spent 14 days on Sirena. The ship is quite beautiful and the fifty million dollar refit really shines. This is one of the so called R ships, originally built by Renaissance cruises. GUT2407 Posted November 10, 2016 #8 Share Posted November 10, 2016 Her and her sisters are our favourites. Only so much they could do to her without spending an arm and a leg.

red4lisa Posted November 11, 2016 #10 Share Posted November 11, 2016 What good memories! I was on the Tahitian Princess twice and the Ocean Princess once with my family. Enjoyed the ship very much, thanks for sharing!!
cflutist Posted November 11, 2016 #11 Share Posted November 11, 2016 Thank you for posting this. Our three cruises to French Polynesia on the Tahitian/ Ocean Princess were our favorite. Looking forwards to the Pacific Princess next year.
UpcountryTravelers Posted November 12, 2016 #12 Share Posted November 12, 2016 We did two cruises on the Ocean Princess. Absolutely our favorite Princess ship!! So sad she is gone from the fleet.
South Pacific Bound Posted April 21, 2017 #13 Share Posted April 21, 2017 Thank you for sharing. I came here to see if I could find out information that the Ocean was possibly being refurbished (since I hadn't seen any listings). I'm disappointed she's not part of the Princess fleet - our trip to the South Pacific was one of the best memories of our lives, and we've been looking for a similar trip to go back. Too many cruises to Alaska (just my opinion) and not enough going to tropical islands. Guess I'll just have to wait until I retire and have the 28 days... flamomo Posted April 22, 2017 #14 Share Posted April 22, 2017 SO nice to see this "Little White Lady" again, as she was the first Princess small ship I cruised on, doing the 10 day French Polynesia itinerary back when she was still the Tahitian. It saddened me when Princess decided to sell her, but it's nice to see that Oceania has retained much of her charm, despite the refurbishment. I still miss having her for a Princess option. Thanks for sharing this link.
Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted April 22, 2017 #15 Share Posted April 22, 2017 Thanks for sharing this, Caribill. I'm surprised by how little was changed. The specialty restaurants and the dining room look the most different (table configuration has been completely changed) but they even kept those silly lights on the dining room tables. I have seen photos of one of the R-ships that was totally changed...must be an Azamara ship. The bathrooms, in particular, were significantly updated. I think they're the most dated thing on the Pacific Princess and am surprised that Oceania didn't do more with them.
