js11110 Posted December 7, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 7, 2016 We have a ship ornament from every ship we've been on and also a ornament from every place we've been- not only on cruises but other vacations too. It's always a great time decorating the tree and reminiscing about our fun times and then breaking out the new ornaments from the previous year to add to the ones already on the tree. Jan_In_Maine Posted December 7, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 7, 2016 We have ornaments from every port we have been to (the "kids" were given all the ornaments from family travels that we collected when they were growing up) --- they got to pick which ones they wanted! The only ship ornaments we have are from the Mariner and the Explorer ... don't know why we didn't collect ships. Jan
alliemcb13 Posted December 9, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 9, 2016 Yes!! We have 2 from Freedom! Can't wait to get one from Oasis this summer. We get an ornament from every vacation spot!
Robo1098 Posted December 9, 2016 #8 Share Posted December 9, 2016 Seems like they are out of stock on ornaments most of the times I have looked on board.
parrotfeathers Posted December 9, 2016 #9 Share Posted December 9, 2016 I decided to skip decorating or putting up a tree this year. Not sure how I will feel about that Christmas Eve or Christmas but sure will be glad afterwards not to have to disassemble and put all the boxes back in the attic. harryfat1 Posted December 9, 2016 #11 Share Posted December 9, 2016 Here’s a picture of the Allure ornament from our tree. To have equal representation, here’s also a picture of a Carnival ship ornament. :p We’ll be on the Freedom in 10 days so most likely get another one while on board. Rare vacationlover_mn Posted December 9, 2016 #12 Share Posted December 9, 2016 I am trying hard to get a Carnival Inspiration one (that was our first ship, and we didn't collect back then), but it's been impossible to find one online! And yes, I've checked eBay ;) Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
CntPAcruiser Posted December 9, 2016 #13 Share Posted December 9, 2016 We have several retired RCI pepper grinders hanging on our tree. We hit 'em with a little spray glue and glitter and presto, Christmas ornaments!
CanobieFan Posted December 10, 2016 #14 Share Posted December 10, 2016 I've got two from Royal Caribbean, one from Freedom of the Seas and one Vision Of The Seas. Both are shaped like the ships themselves (like the Allure one from harryfat1's post) Majesty didn't sell a ship shaped one, but they did have a keychain I'm gonna try to convert...ha. Rare aussielozzie18 Posted December 10, 2016 #15 Share Posted December 10, 2016 I was surprised by the complete lack of Christmas ornaments available on the Explorer on my 10-20 Nov cruise. I have 2 ship ornaments and one santa/lighthouse ornament bought on board. I wasnt able to buy any on my most recent cruise. I also collect port and ship magnets. CanobieFan Posted December 17, 2016 #16 Share Posted December 17, 2016 Heres a photo of mine from Freedom and Vision. The one for Majesty wasn't an actual ornament but a key chain in the same style that I plan on modifying to match the other two. :D
LeDemonBlond Posted December 18, 2016 #17 Share Posted December 18, 2016 All the credit goes to my wife as she has made ornaments from our trips. Our Tree is not a traditionally decorated tree, lots of homemade/oddball ornaments. On a Bermuda trip out a New York, have an ornament with a vile of horseshoe bay beach sand, the ship cards and our Bermuda and New York metro passes. Out of Southhampton, have the liberty ship along with a RCCL metal decal, key cards and a London double decker bus. Each of the boys has one so when they leave the nest, they can take that ornament with them.
griffy116 Posted December 18, 2016 #18 Share Posted December 18, 2016 We have ornaments from the ships and from the ports and cities we've visited. We even managed to get one in Turkey. We had guests over tonight and they kept going over to the tree talking about the various ornaments. They're all very different. Some are hand painted, some are glass blown and delicate, others are pieces of scrap metal that have been shaped, painted and turned into ornaments, a few hand-painted wooden ornaments, beaded ornaments, a goofy hand-carved fish and just about all of the ornaments on the tree have a story. We LOVE putting the tree up and remembering all the fun times we had at each of the places represented by the ornaments on the tree.
Rare vacationlover_mn Posted December 18, 2016 #19 Share Posted December 18, 2016 (edited) Anyone know of a place online or land, that sells these? I would LOVE to get some for our early ships, before we started collecting them- Carnival Inspiration, Majesty of the Seas, Norwegian Dream, etc... CanobieFan Posted December 18, 2016 #21 Share Posted December 18, 2016 Anyone know of a place online or land, that sells these? I would LOVE to get some for our early ships, before we started collecting them...., Majesty of the Seas.... When I was on Majesty they did not sell a Christmas ornament shaped like the ship itself but rather a keychain similar to the ship shape ornaments found on the newer ships... As seen in my photo a few posts up. But it is easily convertible into an ornament. Doing a quick search on eBay I didn't find anything but I'm sure you could ask someone here sailing on the ship soon if they could pick one up for you and just reimburse them, or something. tiessa Posted December 18, 2016 #22 Share Posted December 18, 2016 We have ornaments from ports visited but not from RCCL. tiessa Posted December 18, 2016 #24 Share Posted December 18, 2016 Tiessa - I an hook you up with a cute Dough Boy ornament ;) Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app Thanks. Lol! But no thanks. We are just not into commercialism on our trees. All of our ornaments are from our childhoods, or our travels, or made by our kids or grandkids. All have great personal meaning. eem0924 Posted December 18, 2016 #25 Share Posted December 18, 2016 We have just one from RCCL - Navagator of the Seas. I do enjoy putting it on the tree each year. Not sure I would want one from every trip though
