Haoie Posted December 18, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 18, 2016 I read about the Splendor too but not about the changed newbuild. I wouldn't mind finally sailing Splendor TBH.
chesterbear Posted December 18, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 18, 2016 And are we surprised by that? Nope. Not surprised at all either. It's not the only reason I don't want to sail p&o but the aged fleet is off putting. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Stuartm Posted December 18, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 18, 2016 The Splendor is only 8 years old and similar capacity to the Emerald Princess that has been greeted very warmly this cruise season....and she is 10 years old. cheers Stu
icat2000 Posted December 18, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 18, 2016 Wow. Talk about a big up your nose by PO. This market not good enough for a new build but good enough for higher fares. Okay. . .
NSWP Posted December 18, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 18, 2016 (edited) I read she is not due with P&O Australia until 2019. NOW, the big question.... will the Queens English prevail and should she be renamed Carnival SPLENDOUR, axe Splendor ?? ?? Don't want that American spelling here !! She is a sister ship by design/class of the late Costa Concordia. Carnival is getting a new Vista Class ship to replace Carnival Splendour. (Uncle Les has renamed her already !! lol.) Rare MicCanberra Posted December 19, 2016 #10 Share Posted December 19, 2016 She is a sister ship by design/class of the late Costa Concordia. This is also the same as QE2 and the QV for Cunard, although the interiors would look very different.

Ship Drongo Posted December 19, 2016 #17 Share Posted December 19, 2016 I'm sick to death of these nondescript names; how about returning to some old traditional P & O names - e.g. Himalaya, Orcades, Oronsay, Canberra etc.
