Rare MicCanberra Posted January 24, 2017 #26 Share Posted January 24, 2017 Yes thankyou. That matches my situation perfectly. I tried faxing directly to Cunard but it gave up after five tries. I did get OBC as part of the booking which matches the experience in that thread. Thankyou for finding it. It does not state that OBC is not combinable with other promos. I have sent it off again requesting proof that I don't receive it. I booked directly off the Cunard site. No TA involved. Share holder OBC should be combinable with other offers. These are the restrictions on Shareholder OBC - • This offer is good for only one cabin occupied by the shareholder. Only one benefit OBC can be applied to a cabin, even if there are multiple shareholders in the cabin. • This offer can only be applied to bookings under deposit. • This offer cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities. • This offer is combinable with most cruise fares. Some restrictions apply. • This offer is combinable with most onboard credit offers. • This offer is non-transferable. • Applications to receive this benefit must be made no later than 14 days prior to the cruise departure date. GUT2407 Posted January 24, 2017 #27 Share Posted January 24, 2017 In that thread the individual had received a special teacher rate - so there are some rates that don't apply. Sent from my iPhone using Forums Special teacher rate? How do we grab that one.
Billy and Charlie's Mum Posted January 24, 2017 #28 Share Posted January 24, 2017 My OBC was refused yesterday - saying the Cunard Fare was a sale. Pushka..... keep pushing! As you know we were refused too for our upcoming QE cruise from Sydney to Kobe. You just have to keep ringing and also it might help if you go onto Cunard on social media and have a whinge..... it seemed once I did that I all of a sudden got it approved. Not saying that is the reason, but it was strange how everyone was saying "why did Cunard refuse you?" and next minute they sent an email saying it was approved. Worth a try. They told me it was a sale fare too but if you have a look at the list of reasons to refuse there is nothing there that says anything about a sale fare. This is the email I got from them initially..... Cunard are pleased to offer an onboard credit for shareholders of Carnival Corporation stock. This offer is available to shareholders holding a minimum of 100 shares of Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc. Upon checking the attached file, we found out that your shareholder benefits are not applicable to the promo of your booking. For more information, please contact your travel agent. Also, refer to the restrictions below: - Limited to one OBC per cabin and shareholder must occupy the first or second berth - Cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities - Excludes Travel Agent, Breakaway/Interline, Concessionary Staff and Family & Friend fares - Offer must be applied in advance of travel (and cannot be added onboard) - Offer is not transferable - Offer is combinable with other Onboard Credit offers Please let me know if you have any further questions. Kind regards, Irish AU Phone: 13 24 41 NZ Phone: 0800 543 431 http://www.cunard.com As you can see there is nothing there about "SALE" fares and that is what I took them to task over. Our TA knew nothing about the shareholders OBC not being available too, she was at a loss as to why. Anyway, in the end sense prevailed and we have been given the $250US OBC...so we are happy. Not a lot of special rates on offer outside of the US market from what I can tell. Another special rate they have (or used to have ) in the States , is for retired Airline staff, who can still get free or heavily discounted stand by flights and are able to join the ships at short notice. Pushka Posted January 24, 2017 #40 Share Posted January 24, 2017 Good luck, I had am email go unanswered for weeks, posted on Facebook and got a phone call the same day. They actually gave me a 'no' the next day. FB responded during their business hours so next day for me. Asked for a pm so jpg'd my holdings and booking reference this morning. I just don't understand why they bother having policies that they either do not enforce or contradict.

Those are still in place, and access is very restricted. It's one of the ways that the cruise lines have full ships on sail date. Those industry fares definitely do not qualify for the shareholder benefit.
Billy and Charlie's Mum Posted January 25, 2017 #44 Share Posted January 25, 2017 The main thing is that there is nowhere in the Shareholder rules that say that just because you got a sale fare you won't be entitled to the OBC. If they keep on saying that you aren't entitled because it's not combinable with that fare ask them to show proof that that was advertised in the fine print when the sale price went up. Not good enough that they just decide to change the rules when they feel like it. Try ringing that phone number at the bottom of the email I posted..... I finally got to talk to someone on that number who did something. Don't give up Pushka!

Rare MicCanberra Posted January 26, 2017 #48 Share Posted January 26, 2017 I would think they should have done it as a courtesy everytime. Makes you wonder if the policy will change. They may scrap this benefit for some or all of the lines; or just change the restrictions so that unless it is brochure price you don't get any OBC. I would think about selling my shares if the later occurs.
Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted January 26, 2017 #49 Share Posted January 26, 2017 Me too. Although the various lines under the Carnival Corp umbrella seem to work differently. So far we haven't had any problems on Princess and Carnival, and both times I paid lower than brochure price for our cabin. I'm glad it worked out for you, Pushka. So far we haven't had any problems on Princess and Carnival, and both times I paid lower than brochure price for our cabin. I'm glad it worked out for you, Pushka. We have had it paid out for Princess, Cunard and P&O without any issues but then who knows how long that will last. The shareholders could stop it at the next AGM, then the decision is made once and for all.
