Island Lady's live adventure on Oasis of the Seas

Recommended Posts

Pat(and Bucky), enjoying your review.....but wish I were onboard Oasis with y'all, enjoying even more! I was actually tired of cruising after our December ones, but am back ready to go, now!:) When I was on Allure in October, I had breakfast a couple of mornings and lunch a few times at Park Cafe. John and I enjoyed Johnny Rockets for breakfast on Oasis. Can't wait to hear about CK from you! I'm thinking of booking Harmony for our "free PC cruise". :)

Continuation of day three:

Made sure we did not leave that extra bottle of bubbly on ice

get lonely in it's bucket. ;) We enjoyed it as we were now treated

to beautiful weather and calm seas on our approach to San

Juan. Freedom, in all her beauty, was welcoming us in to join

her at the dock. She indeed looked good!

Nice thing was that we were on the port side, which had the best view as we came

in. With the sun was getting low in the sky, it lit up the fort and buildings with a

white glow. Very surreal. Then we were treated to a fabulous sunset from that

side as we were docking. DH went ashore briefly, as I got ready for happy hour

and dinner.

DL was once again almost empty by the time we went in at 6 pm. No problem

getting a seat and sat with same couple, joined once again by others.

Another good time was had by all. :D

7:30 was our first time at CK. About half full. Very good service. I had the

fish..but it was incredibly fishy. Still feeling that burger from lunch, so I just

ate my appetizer and was happy. DH enjoyed his pasta. Heads up to JS

pax...DH and I came in with our glasses of wine from the DL, then as our

glasses were getting to low tide...waiter came up and asked if we wanted them

topped off. Sure...it was still happy hour time. Then they presented us with a

14.00 a piece bill. And that was for house wine. Got us on that one.

Lesson learned. :(

Back to the cabin to enjoy the rest of the beautiful evening and view over

the port. Feeling the bubbly and wine ...it was off to sleepy land. Never

even woke up when we set sail again around midnight. Yeah, real party

girl, eh? ;)

Next up: Day four

Start of day four: (St. Thomas)

The egg mystery continues. Indeed middle tables had the sign "fresh

scrambled eggs"....but one was plain and the other had the dreaded

peppers in it. Not something I am fond of, so no report on the scramble

quality yet. Went up to the egg station, though not made to order, they

always have fresh fried eggs and pre made omelettes. Good again, and once

again worked for me. Love poached eggs, but only found them on day two.

They are mysteriously missing since then. :(

WJ opened at 7 am, and was already nuts with pax when we went in at 7:05.

Common on an early port day. Only one side open, and food was disappearing

very quickly. Long line just for coffee. Only one coffee and juice station.

Strange for such a big ship. Even Radiance series has bigger WJ, three coffee

stations and much more seating. Actually wanted to go to Solarium Cafe,

but was listed as closed for both breakfast and lunch today. Not sure why.

At least the DL coffee machine has been working well so far, and as usual

enjoy that morning Latte. DH Bucky loves the "kick butt" coffee with two shots

of espresso.

Beautiful view and weather once again as we silently slid into port. One

ship next to us, Viking Star.

Plan to explore on our own walking tour today. I Googled the area and did

some digging on restaurants in the area. Will zero in on a Sushi restaurant

on the water going towards town. At least get some fresh fish finally!

I am now up to date, and captain has just let us know we are cleared by

customs and may proceed ashore.

Next up: Continuation of day four. Hope I am not boring you all.

Pat if you happen to be wandering the halls and go past room 680 starboard side aft past the aft elevators can you let me know if there is a service door right across from that room??

Thanks I don't think it matters what deck. If there's a service door on one deck I believe it will be on all of them.

Johnny Rockets is free for breakfast and does fresh omelets. Troy-There is an great breakfast menu in CK. You will love it! You can get eggs any way you want and the buttermilk/blueberry pancakes are to die for, or anyway, were on HOTS.

Thanks! :) Will check it out. Problem for us is they open so late (8:00 on port days

and 8:30 during sea days). We are early risers and like to eat early before "walkies".

Of course being "old farts" we eat dinner early also, so we wake up hungry. ;)

No problem. We are mid ship port side (#11236). Really nice location, middle of the

hump out and super convenient to the DL for coffee and refreshing adult beverages.

Will go check out 680 now on deck 11 and report back in a bit. :)

Just checked out cabin 680 here on deck 11. No service door next to or across

from it. A small access panel, but that's it. Talked to a couple going into their

cabin across the hallway. She said she heard what sounded like pipes banging,

but just on the first night (during the storm). Otherwise they love the location

so near the elevators and stairs.

Quite possible, but sorry I don't remember.:o I didn't receive an invitation, but knew someone who did. He had told me wrong time, so I came in very late(said "Hi!" to Katie, activities staff, I remembered from Freedom) I went quickly on down to welcome back show in the aqua theater, where I saw another ex Freedom bar manager! I've cruised on Freedom many times, and like Pat, she's my favorite ship!

Keep cruising, and I'm sure we'll run into each other again!:)

Happy New year Pat and Bucky. I'm loving following you on your cruise. We were aboard over Christmas, ate most of our dinners in the CK, once in Chops, and a couple of lunches in the Park Cafe, for their famous Kummelwick roast beef sandwiches.

Miss you both!:)

Found the sushi restaurant, quite a bit of a walk through interesting territory, but

hey..we tend to be adventurous. Had a bar/table seat directly looking over the water

with our ship across the harbor. Fantastic bottle of "Kiwi SB"..(New Zeeland Sauvignon Blanc)

with two talently made sushi rolls. Then the waitress let us feed their "pets". Huge

Tarpon roaming back and forth along the seawall. Place is called Enkai. Tough to find

but so worth the hunt! Bucky bought a wild bright green tropical shirt at one of the

local port vendors, then we returned to the ship to enjoy the afternoon on our balcony.

No chair hogs to deal with here. ;).

Next up...evening report of day four.

Enjoying your review, Pat! Thanks for taking the time to post. We are on the Oasis Eastern itinerary Feb. 5th. This will be our first time on an Oasis class ship, and our friends' first ever cruise.

Did you happen to hear of any one going to Chops for the First Night Done Right? We were hoping that might be an option.

Thanks!
