What was your upgrade offer and what did you bid

Do the prices on the upgrade offer's ever go lower closer to cruise time? I received the offer and I check back periodically to see if anything is changed but so far it hasnt. thanks :-)

The ranges do not change. And considering that people are bidding on the current range, if it were to drop and you bid in the lower range, you would be under all of the existing bids.

HOWEVER, the cost of the cabin could drop such that your bid is more than just paying the retail price for the room; getting to pick your room; and getting all of the perks associated with that cabin class.

It is not just your bid amount but also your current cabin and what they believe it could be re-marketed for. Frankly, I believe it is why we see so many blow out sailaway rates close to sailing on interior and oceanview.

So...I logged into NCL.com a few minutes ago.

Looked like I had three new messages, but in my mailbox, there was nothing new.

BUT, my "Lets get you upgraded" message was gone.

So, I checked my Vacation Summary, and I was upgraded to H5 Haven!!! YAY!!!!!

Checked my eDocs, but they were my original balcony stateroom.

Went back to My Vacation Summary, and the Haven assignment was gone, and my original stateroom was back.

Sigh.....

Maybe it'll change again, lol. 39 days to go.....

Oh what a tease. Check you credit card to see if it's be charged. That's the best way. Lol. I will know if they take my bid, as 1 minutes after charging my card will get a email from my bank.

And that is the quickest easiest way to find out.

Pretty sure all credit cards have this option. You can set up emails and/or text alerts for all charges or certain dollar amounts.

I currently have a balcony room with the little bump out balcony. I feel i got a really great price on my package. The cheapest upgrade would be to a mini suite stateroom for $25 pp or the next

The Haven Forward-Facing Penthouse with Balcony H7 for $400 pp....im not sure either of those are really worth the upgrade especially the mini suite stateroom...doesnt seem to be giving me any more than I already have.

Mini-suite I think is a much larger bathroom. Not sure I'd spend $50 for that or not, your dime.

Regardless of whether we actually do get the upgrade, or not....

We have a nice stateroom on a cool ship, and we're going to have a great cruise!

That is the best attitude to have. I would love for my offer to be accepted, but if not, I am happy with the cabin I have.

True. But Im surprised to find many who never took the time to set it up. Laugh when someone's surprised when the find out their account is compromised weeks after the fact. Use Samsung pay on my phone and smart watch. Get the email as i leave cash register. Not hard to do and Im 62.

Ok so I did a mock booking looking for how many of the rooms we tried to upgrade to were still left.

NONE

Not one haven is possible to bid on. Some say sold out, some say n/a. The two we bid on say sold out.

Does this mean we wont' have our bids accepted?

Sailing in 26 days so not exactly near that yet.

I called NCL and asked the same question regarding my bid. I was told there may be reserved inventory - I hope so, but if there is a very limited opportunity I am not sure my bid was strong enough to beat out many others.

Mine wasn't either. Sigh. I mean I'm ok regardless. It's still letting me modify my bid though. which is odd! All I can pick from ever was haven.... so why! Lol

We had the Haven listed as Sold Out or NA two weeks before our cruise and a few days later about 6 cabins opened up. So there is still a chance at an upgrade.

Until the last room is paid for, it's open. Even a haven room can open if they take a upgrade to a better haven room, leaving the one vacated now ready to be in the bid mix. This is how NCL makes a few extra bucks. Add this by the # of movements and ads up quick. Bet they have lots of open, unsold cabins in the next 4 to 6 weeks with all the hurcanne news. Bet many who might of wanted to book last minute for a Caribbean cruise will wait to later in the year. Leaves more action for us to upgrade for a lower bid than ever. NCL will wait to the last minute hoping we will up bid. Bet we don't find out till the last 72 hours. Can be up to the last 48 hours. Hold off putting on your luggage tags, LOL. And hope for the best. Want that balcony room but happy were we booked our OV.

Further to this, what I would say is this... if you haven't received an email saying..."your bid was not accepted" or... you're at 48 hours and sadly, your CC hasn't been charged, then it's not over until... ain't no fat lady singing here but... you still have a chance.

Don't lose hope!

I'm happy that most pax seem happy to bid but are still happy with their original cabin choice, IMO, that's how this game should be played... and yes, I consider it a game.

Have fun, enjoy your cruise and hope you get your rewards...

Cheers, :D

Agreed. It's all a game. What to bid and should you over bid. As long as your happy with the room you booked, it's fun. If you book a inside and not going to happy unless you get the mini suite, then it's not a game. Im sure NCL loves the over bid. Never bid anymore than what your comfortable with. Just like at a casino, bet with your head not your heart. The fun is getting the cabin for much less than the booking rate. Even if you have to wait almost to the last 48 hours.

Bid the amount your comfortable with. Depends on how full the ship is. The more popular the week, the fewer mini suites will be available. It also depends on type of room you have, as inside rooms usually go last. If you have a balcony room NCL can turn around and use it if the have too many gtw sales. Many have gotten the upgrade for a very low bid. I bet the majority of the winning bids are what the slider starts. We picked our OV room in a good spot and my wife is afraid the upgrade would be far from the elevator. Lol, I want a balcony, but when we booked, was much more than we paid in the past on RCCL. Been doing a mock booking and see very few if any OVs left. They were booking at a good deal and got the same 2 free at sea perks as both the balcony and mini suite. You can still book a OV, but only at the GTY rate. Hoping NCL might take a lower bid to free up a few OVs, as they still have many balcony and mini suite still available. But most importantly, like the room we booked so will be happy with what happens either way. 5 weeks to go. Kind of fun tweking the bid from week to week. Now have it a little lower. Don't want to over bid and not be happy were we end up. Kind of like eBay in the old days. You don't want to get too much into it and wake up finding you went overboard. In price,Lol.......

We are going with the minimum bids as there are a lot of balconies and mini suites available as it gets closer I can change my bid. Like you pointed out there are several factors to consider. Plus I am happy with the cabin I have now so nothing to lose if my bid is not accepted.

Just got the let's get you upgraded banner on one of the two rooms we have. We are in a hump balcony, noticed that there are no options to bid on other balcony categories. Is this the norm? Was only considering putting in a bid for aft balcony as I am happy with our current room.

In your case, I wouldn't bid. You don't get a choice to upgrade to another balcony, your choices would be either a minisuite or haven. You're not given the ability to choose your cabin.

However, if you're serious about wanting an aft balcony and if they are still available, I'd just call and ask about paying the extra... not sure they allow it still but you never know unless you ask...

HTH, enjoy your cruise

I'd be willing to upgrade, but I heard I'd get the current promos and lose the ones I have now. I got excellent promotions. How true is that? Or does it vary?
