What was your upgrade offer and what did you bid

Question, I am assuming that when you are bidding for a "mini-suite" it is for any of the mini suites available, including the family mini suites? The reason I ask is that there seems to be a bunch of family mini suites still available on our up-coming cruise and I personally did not want to win one of them so I didn't bid on them for that reason. Just wanted to make sure, thanks in advance!

Only difference is Pullman bed over the pull out couch. Otherwise the same. Your more likely to get the regular mini suite, so bid away......

When I looked up the family mini-suites, most were all connecting rooms and also had bath tubs? We have never had good experience with connecting rooms with noise level, though never had one on the Escape before so may be different. No need for a bath tub since our children are older now;)

Bidding on a cruise on Dawn. All mini suites have a tub. Older ship, lol. I agree with not wanting a connected room. Most not happy with the noise.

I had originally booked an Inside Cabin (Category IF) on NCL Breakaway sailing 10/1. My cost at time I booked that in May was was $699 pp (plus taxes and fees), which was already a bargain discount.

Through the NCL Upgrade Advantage Program, I was eligible to bid on an upgrade to either an Outside or Balcony cabin starting 9/1. I low-balled "poor" bids for both initially ($50 pp for Outside upgrade; $100 pp for Balcony upgrade). I left the Outside bid alone, but in the last few weeks I re-bid my Balcony offer a few times - up to $125 pp, back down to $100 pp, and finally back up to $125 pp.

My 9/11 bid for a Balcony upgrade for $125 pp was accepted on 9/13, so my wife and I are now booked in a Category BC Balcony. The cabin happens to be a corner balcony as well, so we'll have little extra space out there. We almost always cruise in Inside cabins, so this will be a real treat for us!

Hope some other Breakaway cruisers out there have a similar experience with their Advantage upgrades! I'm guessing the recent hurricanes put a damper on last-minute cruise decisions, so it's better for NCL to get a little extra money for cabins that would have gone un-occupied.

Just got my bid offer accepted for our 9/18/2017 cruise on the Sky. This is for an inside to a balcony. The original mandatory bid was for $165 each (in the good range). I tweaked the bid a few times until I hit $195. Heck, this puts my bid right in line with the current Guarantee price. I refused to go any higher because of that. I ended up with a BC category cabin on the starboard side near the rear bank of elevators.

One of my cruising partners ended up with a BA cabin on the same deck. I don't know what she bid however.

I made my bid a while ago and got the email confirmation right away. After that, it said and still says "pending" and has not changed. We're about a week away from sailing. Checking the NCL site periodically this week, and our cruise has (at various times) disappeared, reappeared, and at times has shown as "sold out."

I know there are only a limited number of staterooms available in the category I bid on, so I'm assuming that at this point, they're all sold out...and it's just a question of a last minute cancellation of a room in that category--and then I might get it...? (The website says that an upgrade can occur up to two days before sailing.) Just to clarify, I'm very happy with where I am currently, so it's not a big deal if I don't get the upgrade.

Anyone have any experience in this type of case...? And what's the latest you've been notified of a winning bid...?

Also, do you only receive an email if your bid is accepted or do they send one when it's rejected, too...?

Thanks so much.

We had a two-bedroom suite on the Pearl Nov. 26, got the e-mail to bid last week and disappointed to find the upgrade to Haven two-bedroom suite was $600 pp even though only one of the eight rooms have sold. But I made the mistake of showing my mom a video of the Pearl's Haven pool and she insisted we still try and make the bid. So we bid $605.

Then I saw the prices had dropped on the main NCL site. I wasn't too hopeful because we booked through Casinos At Sea and our experience has been that their upgrade rates are fixed, regardless of any price drop on the website. Well I called anyway and was quoted a price of $961 (total) to upgrade. Certainly cheaper than the $1200 bid! When I told the CAS rep that, she said she would verify the price with her supervisor. Unfortunately, while she was away I had to end the phone call because my ride home was waiting. So I texted my mom on the drive home about the (possible) new price.

So she calls this evening, and the price they quoted her was ... $80. Not per person: Total. Needless to say she jumped all over that and now we're going to become Haven Snobs!

(Although now she wants me to keep checking in case one of the Garden Villa rooms frees up!)

Thanks for the post, I have been wondering about how it works when you book through the Casino at sea line. We booked through them and got what I think was a great discount to book our 2/3/2018 sailing on the Escape. We were offered a free inside room but wanted the Haven and was able to book a Haven spa suite for a good discount, so I had been wondering if we would even get an offer to upgrade. Actually we love this room and the included spa passes so not sure we would upgrade to a larger room for the 2 of us.

I thought you couldn't call for upgrades..you could only do the upgrade bidding online? Is the call just for CAS?

Pretty sure this was a one-off type of situation.

As you probably know, different people get different cabin types. It changes based on their past play, and also by each individual cruise. Some cruises it is easier to get a balcony or even a suite. And, I think it varies based on how many other CAS people are traveling that week. I have seen times when I call in and a mini-suite is available for me, and a week later it is not and they only over a balcony, or maybe even oceanview. CAS appears to "buy" the cabins from the main NCL pool and may have better or worse availability based on all those factors.

A possible scenario here is that they looked at this persons play and what they had available at the moment and bumped them up. Just my guess.

Lots of CAS folks here have been able to bid and win.

Most folks can also call in and BUY a higher category room as the CURRENT price. (CAS or others). Sometimes they will let you do that, sometimes they say you have to cancel the current reservation and start over which of course you would not do if after final payment.

We just found out that our bid for the October 1 Breakaway sailing was accepted. We started out in a comped inside as part of CAS. We offered $450 for a balcony and received confirmation today that it was accepted. We are now in a BB balcony mid ship on deck 9. I looked at the deck plans and there is nothing but cabins above and below us so, I am very happy.

We just found out that our bid for the Sept 23rd escape sailing was accepted. Originally booked in a BB mid balcony for 4 people with beverage and dining package for $2376 taxes and fees included through our TA. We bid $125 p/p for a mini suite we are now in a family mini on the 12th deck. For a grand total of $2626 for 4 people in a family mini suite with two perks is a great deal I think!

We also bid $850 p/p on a aft haven suite and that obv. Was rejected. Hope this helps some of you. Happy sailings and never give up hope that your bids will be accepted this is only 5 days from sailing date and I changed my bids numerous times before it getting accepted. I started my bid for a mini suite at $50 p/p around 30 days ago, revised it several times ranging from $60 to $115 p/p and never got an offer. Then this morning @ 8 am I changed the bid to $125 p/p and three hours later I received aN email stating my bid was accepted! I think going from a balcony to a mini the magic number is $125 p/p. I am a gold member with ncl and always book through my own TA. I paid a pretty cheap price originally for a balcony cabin. Also, pretty much all mini suites for those sailing dates were sold out when I just did a mock booking.

Hope this helps you all.

Our bid for the Haven was accepted! Our cruise is 10/15 and we were in a minisuite, now upgrade to H5 Courtyard Penthouse. Our bid was $550 each. Did we bid too high lol didn't expect it this soon.

Also, what does this now mean for us? What perks come with being in the Haven? I'm sure its answered somewhere else & I'll research but thank you!

I also have an Alaskan cruise booked thru CAS next June, I paid $3000 pp to upgrade to a SF. I thought that was a good deal.. apparently not.lol

Thank you! You, as well. That $450 was total for 3 people, by the way. So, $150 per person was the bid for the upgrade. I was nervous because I didn't like the idea of NCL picking the location of the cabin but, it worked out well for us. Have you sailed on Breakaway before? This will be my second time but I am bringing two Norwegian newbies with me.

Just to clarify for others. The bid was actually $225 each for a total of $450. They only do it based on the first two passengers. And if only one passenger, they still base it on two.

(or it was $150 each times 2 for $300)

You keep your original perks.

You get a butler and concierge that you need to tip separately. They are not covered by your DSC.
