Gloworm2 Posted September 11, 2017 #151 Share Posted September 11, 2017 This is no different than airline status. They will try and entice someone who normally flies a different airline and fast tack them to a status level. What I learned with airline is tou have to ask how to fast track. I earned it on one airline and was fast tracked on another Sent from my iPhone using Forums

DMRick Posted September 11, 2017 #154 Share Posted September 11, 2017 If you're some schmoo with an inside cabin above the prop shaft and bitchin about not being upgraded then deal with it. Hey, inside cabins don't have the only schmoos! I wear my card on a lanyard (because otherwise I'll lose it), but usually I have the days schedule tucked in front of it. That said I see lots on lanyards and I pay no attention to their color. I've never felt any elite has acted any different than others, but I really concentrate on the good time we are having, and not other people. I don't have your kind of post count but I do spend way too much time here on CC. I just looked at my post count and was surprised. I don't normally pay any attention to that. It's not like it "means anything" other than what you said above. A lot of time on my hands and nothing very important to do. Not to worry! Soon I'll be cruising for 28 days and won't give a hoot about what's happening here. :D;p:p:cool:

I also wear my card on a lanyard for convenience (I always wear dresses and as such, almost never have pockets). I rarely even notice someone's color, let alone care. Just wondering what will happen with Ocean Medallion, when we are all wearing bracelets. Will the bracelets be color-co-ordinated to your status level? Or will they be like DIsney Magicbands, where you can pick whatever color you want? Or maybe they'll do like Celebrity and color-co-ordinate your card to your room type, rather than your past passenger status.

Go-Bucks! Posted September 11, 2017 Author #160 Share Posted September 11, 2017 Even though we have been elite for some time I still wear a blue card on my lanyard - makes for interesting conversion Why wear an old card on the lanyard? Can't open the door or charge anything on it. I've never heard any conversation about card color or status level. Am I alone? Or maybe I don't cruise enough. (Will try to work on that though). :')

Rare sprint180 Posted September 12, 2017 #164 Share Posted September 12, 2017 This thread kills me. I had no idea people actually cared what level other people were at. So what, does it change your status? What difference does it make if the cruise line decides to reward people who spend money in the casino the same as those that spend on more cruises. It's all money to them and it doesn't change the fact that others are elite. I'm going on my second Princess cruise in February, you either will or won't be happy to know I don't care what any of you are, I'm just going to have fun. Bourbon Believer Posted September 12, 2017 #166 Share Posted September 12, 2017 I have friends who have benefited from the fast track to Elite. They are casino devotees, literally going through thousands of dollars in the casino. Princess Casino's are not managed by Princess. They even have a number of cabins that are comped by invitation only. These gamblers literally spend their entire days sleeping and spend their entire evening/night gambling. More power to them, I'll get to Elite the old fashion way. Can't wait to achieve the right to stand in the "Elite/Suites Guests" Line at Guest Services. I've heard those with this privilege talking about how much better the air is in that line.

Golf4 Posted February 17, 2018 #168 Share Posted February 17, 2018 Good grief. Some people will be elite snobs anywhere. I’ve been on many cruises and wouldn’t care if I were elite or first timer. Who cares. It’s the cruise, the ports, and the enjoyable people I meet. I can ignore a snob on a ship or anywhere else. The experience I have had certainly doesn’t show any more snobs in the elite category than any where else.
558 Posted February 17, 2018 #169 Share Posted February 17, 2018 5 one day solo suite cruises would also get you Elite. A few years back Princess couldn't give the short cruises out of LA away. These were put on 'fire sale'. (Cheap and your fare was credited to a longer cruise.) Plenty of pax were booking b2b2b to do the run up to Elite. I very well remember those $199 short Pacific Coastal cruises out of LA very well. We milked it for all we could. You'd pay $199 for the cruise and then get that $199 credited back towards a future cruise! Deal of the century. Those darn cruises are now some of the most expensive cruises out of LA....so I guess it has paid well for Princess.
Bourbon Believer Posted February 17, 2018 #170 Share Posted February 17, 2018 Yes, I’ve read them all. Just achieved Elite I did it the old way, “number of cruises” Only used Elite benefits twice during a 15 day cruise. I stood in the Elite line at passenger services. Enjoyed the comp mini bar in cabin. As for other benefits: Free Laundry, No Too many elites on cruise so there was a 2 day turn around for laundry. Brought no shoes requiring polishing. Left ship mid mornings so no need for preferred tender transport. Did not board ship until mid afternoon, no need for preferred boarding or Elite Lounge. Just walked off ship, did not use disembarkation lounge. The long and short of it is there is not anything that Elite’s get that would make me insist on a given privilege. Able to take care of myself. If anything having cruised enough to become Elite gives me the advantage of Knowing how to cruise and be a courteous passenger, not an Elite snob requiring special treatment. Not all Elites are snobs !!!!!
floridalover5623 Posted February 17, 2018 #171 Share Posted February 17, 2018 Too many elites on cruise so there was a 2 day turn around for laundry. You're kidding right. 2 days. Wow! Left ship mid mornings so no need for preferred tender transport. Did not board ship until mid afternoon, no need for preferred boarding or Elite Lounge. There is no preferred tender boarding for a return. Just walked off ship, did not use disembarkation lounge. The long and short of it is there is not anything that Elite’s get that would make me insist on a given privilege. Preferred boarding comes in handy when there are 250 people standing in line outside the hot terminal in the heat.
getting older slowly Posted February 17, 2018 #172 Share Posted February 17, 2018 Interesting, people wanting to have "the black card" if one wants the perks, just get a suite. Then you can enjoy Club Class Dining for Suite and Club Class only. The loyalty program would be better it only counted on sea day, and was simply a discount or OBC. Cheers Don
Rare geoherb Posted February 18, 2018 #173 Share Posted February 18, 2018 Two-day turnaround for laundry would be great for a lot of Elites who have experienced waits twice that long and longer. We were fortunate to be in a suite on our last cruise, so we had next-day service. (Our cabin steward never got to our cabin in time to get same-day service.) crochetcruise Posted April 8, 2018 #174 Share Posted April 8, 2018 Personally, I feel accomplished with a since of pride, knowing I earn my Elite status the old school way, of actually taking all the cruises. Doesn't seem fair, if you're a big spender, they accelerate your loyalty status. The only spending you will see me doing, is the spending of purchasing all my AWESOME cruises I get to go on. I also find it ridiculous they give you a full cruise credit for a 3 day cruise. So those who think they are out smarting the system by taking multiple cruises and or staying in suites giving them double the credits, whereas I am here taking 7 days or more and receiving the same amount of the 1-2 cruise credits in a cabin smaller than a suite. What to do. With respect, your comment about taking the 3 day cruise annoyed me because I am handicapped and must budget very carefully to even afford a 3 night cruise. I did have a Window Suite on the Golden for my 1st cruise in 2016, and will again in October. From what I have been able to read of the new schedule, I will have to go to a 2 night cruise between either Sydney-Brisbane or Sydney-Melbourne on another ship as the Golden Princess is scheduled to leave the fleet in 2020 and doesn't seem-but I could be wrong-to have a 3 night cruise in the new schedule. While the paid for Suite perks are very nice, and I DO enjoy them, needing to go down to an Oceanview stateroom isn't for me, a problem. I was warned by the friend who got me inspired to take my 1st cruise, that the balcony door is very heavy to open from the stateroom, and even more difficult from the balcony and she was concerned for my safety. By choosing to spend money for a Suite on a three day cruise, according to Princess I can qualify as Elite on my next cruise. I am planning to take my Elite cruise-if I am able to continue to afford Princess cruises-to Tasmania to meet the friend in real life-we are friends on another online forum. san diego sue Posted April 8, 2018 #175 Share Posted April 8, 2018 To: CrochetCruise You won't be Elite till you have completed 15 cruise credits. Looks like with two cruises in a suite and being a single , you only have 6 credits right now. Next cruise, in a suite single will bring you up to only 9. Outside cabins are only windows, so no balcony to worry about. A balcony cabin is listed as a balcony not outside. There are handicapped cabins in all categories so it will be comfortable no matter which category you chose.
