Do you win on slots in casino?

I always win........I only count what the slots pop out, which it does every few times, and not what I put in. I mean, the point is what i get back isn’t it??? The same as I get a free dinner onboard because I don’t pay for it when I eat, right?? The same as getting all those freebies because I’m Elite+, ignoring the multiple, multiple cruises I took to reach it, right??

Did hit a jackpot on a slot machine while on Reflection. Playing quarters and max bet, the payout was 10,000 credits. Collected my winnings and walked out of the casino with money in hand. Managed to give some back over the course of the cruise but came home with a significant amount. That money is going to cover the cost of excursions on my upcoming cruise. Not expecting to win again but I will likely try for a second win.

My husband and I usually spend a lot of time playing slots on Royal Caribbean.

We have an upcoming cruise on Infinity. In the past, we have not had enough wins in Celebrity casinos to justify spending a lot of time there. Has anyone won on slots in Celebrity casinos?

We always take $2000-$300 on a 10 day cruise for entertainment in the casino after dinner. If you don't go to casinos this may seem like a lot of money but it's only about $100 a night for my wife and myself ($200 total) for some entertainment. Always hoping we don't lose it all.

Machines are tight no doubt about it. In March on the Reflection I hit a Royal on 50 cents Jacks or Better for $2000 (no tax). My wife was playing a penny slot a few machines down and at the same time hit it for $600. We couldn't believe it! Yes early in the cruise. You never really win you just borrow their money for a short time. It did take any pressure off for the rest of the cruise and came home with $$. Find later at night after 10:00 p.m. is better.

I hit for $3600 on my last cruise on Reflection......New Digital Machine with the pirates fighting feature......

Cheers!

Reminds me of my late father who used to tell me of his nice big winnings. Problem was he never mentioned his total outlay to the casino. I was surprised when dealing with his estate to come across his meticulous record that showed he spent far in excess of what he ever won.

I will never begrudge the casino in his case though as it provided him with fun and entertainment and he could afford his spending habit. I do believe there are others who spend and cannot afford their losses an it probably impacts severely on their cost of living.

I enjoy a little gambling for fun and I have to say that having a Craps table, a Black Jack table, and a so-so Video Poker machine in a non-smoking casino is wonderful. There is nothing that bugs me more than being "on a roll" and having a smoker come in next to me while my money is spread out on the craps table. I play a lot more on Celebrity than on Royal Carb because of the non-smoking casino. On RCCL the casino has become an in door smoking lounge for non gamblers. The only other decent casinos with a total non smoking policy that I know of are in Biloxi MS and Black Hawk CO.

As an X smoker I am sure not everyone agrees but Love the non smoking policy and for me it is a big win.

OK the dumbest question on the whole thread. I think what I am reading indicates that the payout percentages can be adjusted via “outside of” or “ from the back office” in the slot machine versus the need to exchange out the chip in the machine. IF this is correct can anyone provide actual useful information in terms of opinions of when these adjustments would be made eg. from cruise to cruise, first night, late in evening, during slot tournament cruises etc.

Slot tournaments are completely different, they are special machines with a switch for tournaments. They then payout way over anything you would see normally since they are not paying out what the screens show. They give you points, highest points win. Totally did fferent

Do not believe that Celebrity yet has the technology to change odds. Perhaps on the Edge.

I should have been more clear. Yes the slot tournament machines run separately on an overriding system during the actual tournament period. I was wondering about all the other machines when more gamblers are on board.

Under the current technology on the ships, they cannot change the odds. Prior to new technologies, that never happened, it was the #1 myth of slot machines both on cruise ships and land based casinos.

I don't gamble but my wife likes the slots. Very low roller, penny slots, maybe 40 cents a spin. She can play all 10 nights or $400 or so. We just use the OBC and get the bonus for using it in the casino. Of course she'll win some and lose some but she never really comes out too far behind. But, she is very conservative.

She enjoys it and it doesn't cost much. Oh and she never expects to win, just wants some play for her money so anything is a plus.

Last 2 cruises she came back with more than we started with. Very little more but breaking even for 10 nights play is a win in her book - lol

We all do realize the company that runs the Casino and the LInes do this to make money, and that all of us who try the slots beyond a few shots are Not going to win, right? Every once in a while, someone hits a jackpot, or like me, play $50 one night and come out with $80, then play the next night and lose it....right?

No matter what the win/loss percentage is, the House wins which means we lose. A baseball batter who averages .250 for the season starts the first months and hits .350. that means he willl hit .150, ending with an average close to .250, except for that ‘exceptional’ season. Just like our ‘exceptional’ cruise winnings.

which means, don’t ask about the next cruise after we hit a good streak prior.

Yes if it provide fun and entertainment then go for it.

Very very few win from the casino.A couple friends of mine they are addicted to gambling, they are ashamed to tell people how much they lost and they always said they won on the last night of the cruise.

We were on the Eclipse in April on a 14-day cruise, and were very disappointed with the casino. It was usually dead in there, and after several visits, we could understand why. The slots and video poker were the tightest I've ever experienced. I don't go into a casino expecting to win, but I do expect to be able to at least play a little while. Those machines were simply vacuum cleaners sucking in my money. My husband likes to play craps, but there was rarely anyone at the table and he doesn't like to play alone. The table was a $10 min., and he'd prefer to warm up on a cruise with a $5 min., so he headed down there on what was supposed to be low min. couple of hours. He got there 15 minutes after the start time and found the table closed. He asked about it and was told "No one was here, so we closed the table." He tried during another advertised low min. period and was told that the craps table wasn't included in that activity. We ended up going home with more money than expected (like I said, it's fun when we win but we don't EXPECT to win) since he ended up not playing craps and I gave up on the slots and video poker after losing my initial allocated amount over a few very short sessions. No big deal I guess, since gambling's not one of the reasons we go on a cruise, just an activity we usually like to indulge in a little since it's there. Not sure we'll even give it a go on our next Celebrity cruise.

Although the payout table isn't the most generous that can be found by shopping around on land, I have been finding the Video Poker games to be fairly generous on board--(Jacks or Better $1 machine, max coin) I've attributed that to fairly weak play by most on board, but with a small sample size no way to know that for sure.

While on land I can enjoy blackjack as well, I've found the bulk of celebrity dealers to be quite cold. There are exceptions and it's enjoyable to sit down at a table with a fun dealer, but in my experience, the only unpleasant crew on a celebrity sailing tend to be dealing blackjack.

A few years ago we were waiting for the muster drill all crowded into Qsine, as I recall, but I could be wrong about the location. We were on a Solstice class ship. We found seats at a table with a retired couple and began a nice conversation while we were waiting. They said they were invited on the cruise by the ship casino operator and were in a suite with all expenses paid. From their comments, we could tell they obviously liked to gamble on land and sea. The day before the end of the cruise I saw the gentleman in the buffet area and asked how it was going. He said they were down $16,000. I was horrified. The "free" cruise was a good investment for the casino.

Hey, guys, I've got this neat game we could play. There's these three cards and all you have to do is keep an eye on the lady while I shuffle them. If you can I will pay out two to one on a $5 bet...

Any takers?

Wife and I are just back from Vegas. She likes to play slots and her comment was that she thought the slots on both Celebrity and Princess paid better than Vegas. This wasn't true several years ago and difference is that Vegas seems to have tightened up their slots. So, in answer to OP's question... Celebrity's slots seem to pay better than Vegas, but in the end you are still going to lose. If you view it as entertainment and have fun playing, it's a nice after dinner activity. If you play to make money - not so much.
