BopRN Posted May 19, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 19, 2017 Why would early dinner seating not even be offered 10 months out? Our choices were MTD or Late seating.
Ashland Posted May 19, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 19, 2017 Why would early dinner seating not even be offered 10 months out? Our choices were MTD or Late seating. Choose MTD and ask to be put on a waitlist for early MDR.
JVilleGal Posted May 19, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 19, 2017 A large group may have the MDR first seating. Google you Cruise and see if a large group is onboard. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
maryjaden Posted May 19, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 19, 2017 Many cruisers book well over a year out. Therefore it may be full. Ask to be waitlisted, you will most likely be moved.
Rare mcatmcat Posted May 19, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 19, 2017 Pick late for now, check back in a month and it will be the other way around. Early open but late closed. I book a year in advance and one of the other seating option is always closed. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
MiniChunks Posted May 19, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 19, 2017 I had a similar situation for my cruise next May. Called and spoke with an agent who called someone else and got me in the early seating. Give them a call
BopRN Posted May 19, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted May 19, 2017 I actually want late dinner seating but thought it odd that early seating would be so booked already. I did a google search and could not come up with a large group on board that week.

hapster85 Posted May 19, 2017 #10 Share Posted May 19, 2017 They do that to even things out. As Ashland mentioned above, take what is available, and wait-list the option you want.
cb at sea Posted May 19, 2017 #11 Share Posted May 19, 2017 If there are travel agency "groups", they assign them one time, before bookings are made...things open up later.

I did a google search and could not come up with a large group on board that week. I suspect that travel agents are given large blocks of staterooms early on and they get dining slots. As the cruise approaches final payment date, it seems that dining slots open.

Rare vacationlover_mn Posted May 19, 2017 #15 Share Posted May 19, 2017 We booked HOS a year in advance, and the only seating left was MTD. We were put on a waitlist for early. We ended up getting early seating, by asking to be seated with some CC friends who had early seating. spookwife Posted May 19, 2017 #16 Share Posted May 19, 2017 Why would early dinner seating not even be offered 10 months out? Sent from my iPhone using Forums That is a common answer, and in at least one cruise I was on, that was the case. Too complicate that , the large group had a meeting on the first night that ran late so they showed up late and didn't leave till 2nd seating was about to begin.
