Strophic Posted June 23, 2017 #26 Share Posted June 23, 2017 We don't exactly have a huge sample size of experiences to choose from, but we're loving December so far. The 1st/2nd week of December is cheap to cruise, and it's really nice to go from cold weather in North Carolina to summer-like temps in Florida and the Caribbean. George C Posted June 23, 2017 #27 Share Posted June 23, 2017 We normally cruise twice a year, 1st is end of April, 2nd week after Thanksgiving , good rates not hurricane season and very few children
JJnumber1 Posted June 23, 2017 #28 Share Posted June 23, 2017 We prefer November and February. It's getting cold in November and it is cold in February! I'm like Strophic, it's nice to wear shorts and t-shirt in the winter.
MCManders99 Posted June 23, 2017 #29 Share Posted June 23, 2017 Lately since I have two special needs kiddos and will not let them miss school - I like spring break- week before or after easter depending on schedule for the year. Our school changes it depending on when easter falls. Refuse to go during summer- way too HOT- DH told me not in summer for Cruise unless it's Alaska Sent from my iPhone using Forums
OCruisers Posted June 23, 2017 #30 Share Posted June 23, 2017 The January/February time frame is our absolute favorite! Great to go to someplace warm when it's very chilly at home. :D
slyster Posted June 23, 2017 #31 Share Posted June 23, 2017 I like Oct, early November. It's not as hot/humid and the kids are all in school. Prices are usually less too!
Sascol Posted June 23, 2017 #32 Share Posted June 23, 2017 October! Most kids have just gone back to school in August and September so there is not a lot on board especially on the southern routes out of San Juan. Also the prices are good that time of year and it is our anniversary time! Pretty much the EXACT same reasons here.
CanadaDeb Posted June 23, 2017 #33 Share Posted June 23, 2017 We like cruising from the middle to the end of January....nice to look forward to something after Christmas and there aren't many kids on the ships.
easyboy Posted June 23, 2017 #34 Share Posted June 23, 2017 April/May for us. Reasonable fare for a nice weather. Sent from my SGH-M919 using Forums mobile app
genegri Posted June 23, 2017 #35 Share Posted June 23, 2017 Having been to just about every Caribbean island by now Caribbean itineraries matter little to us, therefore we prefer the Thanksgiving week to get away while conserving vacation days. If itinerary is important I'd say November after Thanksgiving till April or May, sans Christmas week. Good weather, plenty of ships and routes to choose from, yet still reasonable priced. If neither itinerary or time off work is a concern, go for September and October for best prices. Just watch out for that hurricane.;p:D
cb at sea Posted June 23, 2017 #36 Share Posted June 23, 2017 We like early April...I don't care about "spring break" as it's no different than any other time. I want to get a start on my tan!
Ladysilver Posted June 23, 2017 #37 Share Posted June 23, 2017 My favorite month to cruise is December. The weather is nice in the Caribbean and the ships are beautifully decorated for the holidays. :)
shopreh Posted June 24, 2017 #38 Share Posted June 24, 2017 I've only been on one cruise this past April 22-27. It was great! Very few kids- I googled on line and most of the spring breaks were done by middle of April. Price was good and water was fairly smooth. I get motion sickness so having smooth sailing is important to me of course you never know when a storm or something else will effect the water. It was more choppy around the Yucatán tho. I don't mind trying October, January or February but I think cold fronts can make the ocean choppy?
bigtaz105 Posted June 24, 2017 #39 Share Posted June 24, 2017 January/February, escape the cold. I'm with you Bob! Although late October, November and December are also great.:)
hapster85 Posted June 24, 2017 #40 Share Posted June 24, 2017 We're limited by the school year until the wife retires, but we did manage an early October cruise last year on fall break, and it was really nice. We've been leary of trying one in early April on her spring break, but friends have done it with good results. So we may give it a try soon. Our youngest graduates high school next year, so maybe we can start doing spring and fall. 😎
cruzinlady1947 Posted June 24, 2017 #41 Share Posted June 24, 2017 December....we cruise from Baltimore and do the 12 night cruises. I love starting out in the cold weather then gradually get the warmer weather in the next two days. Tarheel_Cruiser Posted June 24, 2017 #42 Share Posted June 24, 2017 Jan / Feb because it's an escape from the cold and there's no threat of hurricanes.
Cruisin'Kim Posted June 24, 2017 #43 Share Posted June 24, 2017 We cruise mid to late January, but we live in Canada and cruise to get away from the cold and snow! [emoji948] Sent from my iPad using Forums
Cruisin'Kim Posted June 24, 2017 #44 Share Posted June 24, 2017 This is us too. We're not yet sick of winter in January. Early March is when we most need to get out. Up where we are, we're finally looking forward to the end of winter by March, LOL! We're gone in January, early February at the latest ❄️[emoji948] Sent from my iPad using Forums

pattak619 Posted June 24, 2017 #46 Share Posted June 24, 2017 We always sail in January, less children and prices seem to be better, and getting out of "Dodge" after the holidays is a BIG plus
pinkrosesdeb Posted June 24, 2017 #47 Share Posted June 24, 2017 Two best cruises as far as weather and seas were in May! Perfect
ladybugpug Posted June 24, 2017 #48 Share Posted June 24, 2017 We cruised over Christmas this past year on the Oasis. I really did not want to be away from home for Christmas but this was the only time my son could get away from graduate school. Also a good time for my teen daughter to not miss more than a few days of school. The ship was decorated so pretty and it made the cruise extra special. Also it was nice getting away during winter. I really didn't notice a lot of kids on board although I'm sure there were boatloads (lol). We spent most of our time on cruise days in the Solarium anyway. Plus I don't find children offensive as I have had 3 of my own! We loved the cruise so much we are returning this year for the week just prior to Christmas. This time on the Freedom of the Seas. I could see us cruising every year for the holidays $ permitting.

lauraodonnell86 Posted June 25, 2017 #50 Share Posted June 25, 2017 We love cruising in January to escape the cold Missouri winters and also our anniversary is January 4th so it all works out well! We also like it because the kids are mostly back to school so really it's pretty much like an adult cruise!
