LOL yes I am addicted to cruising as well. I usually book the day or day after we return from a cruise. We have two booked later this year. Bouncebacks and other offers from the casino also add to the cruising addiction.

Cheers and happy cruising.

I'm actually going back to land trips. Next year I have a 10 day Peru tripped booked with a tour company. Although I like cruising, the last one was just ok.

I think it's a fantastic way to vacation, but I'm ready to try something else.

I felt the same way and had the same thing happen a few years ago and thought I'd go back to land vacations. Big mistake, BIG!!! For us anyway! It was so full of schlepping bags hither and nigh and then the travel from one hotel to another, the traffic, the crowded highways, the big trucks trying to run us over and the lines at the concierge desk and the crowded cafe's and unavailable restaurants and charges, tipping and did I mention the packing and unpacking of the suitcases.......

I'm going to stick to unpacking once.......waking in a different country or city every day, letting someone else do the driving, with my private balcony, my same seat in the dining room every night and not having to find my wallet at every turn, when I want to eat or buy something!!!!

I wish you well on your adventures and hope that you find more joy than we did!!!!

I am 47 years old and over the years I often thought or taking a cruise but never did till April 2010. It was a short 5 day out of Mobile on the Fantasy.

To put it mildly I was addicted from the moment I saw the ship from the hotel the morning of the cruise. My wife and I had a wonderful time on that first cruise and even now we still love the Fantasy.

since that first cruise in 2010 we have been on a total of 10 cruises and have 2 more booked.

I only wish that I had discovered cruising years ago.

I am truly addicted to cruising. If I don't have a future cruse booked it drives me crazy, I can't sleep, eat, or think straight. I will sit for hours in front of a computer looking at ships and ports until I hit the book now button and get my fix, then the slow countdown to the cruise date begins.

once the cruise is over the whole process starts again. I see no hope of a cure. all I can do is treat the symptoms with more days at sea.

I assume that many here suffer from the same addiction, if so how long can you go without having a future cruise booked???

I make sure to always have a cruise booked. My last cruise was on April 1.. I booked my next cruise (Sept 24- Dream) on March 31. I like to walk off the ship knowing when I will be back home [emoji924]

;p You know your hooked when getting on the first day and you just have to stop in the Atrium and just look. Even if you have been on the ship before it still gets you.

You know your hooked when you already know what you are having for lunch that very first day.

You know you are hooked if you are dreaming about chocolate melting cake.

You know your hooked if there are ports you just don't bother getting off the ship.

You know your hooked if you are getting tired lobster:evilsmile: Never happen.

Great subject. Happy cruising.

When looking at two cruises that a comparable in price and ports- carnival always wins, why? Chocolate Melting Cake

It's a good idea to go to the "Future Cruise" desk and book a cruise while onboard one. You only have to put down $100 per person and you'll get some OBC [Onboard Credits] to go with it.

I ALWAYS visit the future cruise desk when I'm on a cruise.....If I don't have FCC's in my bank then I'm really stressed out!

Jamman , witch Hawaii cruise are you going on.. I ask because we are booked on the jan 12 2019 on splendor..

I have been "hooked" since 1985. Back then when I was single, I could only afford or get time off work to do one, maybe two cruises a year. Patti never cruised until I took her on our honeymoon. With about five years off to start a family, we started cruising again in 1998 and have not looked back, doing two to three cruises a year. Since 2010 we have ramped it up even more, and now that we are semi-retired, (we both work part time to support our habit), we are booking more, longer, and not in prime time cruises. We currently have nine cruises booked through mid 2019, including three B2B's, and a 14 Day Hawaii Journeys cruise. I think we fit the definition!! :D

I did lots of research on the tour company I'm using and for this particular trip as well and 95% of the feedback has been excellent. I do agree the packing and unpacking thing might me a PITA has it's 4 different stops, but I'm a pretty simple packer!

  • 1 month later...

Addicted to cruising? Heck yeah! From the very first time I laid eyes on a cruise ship (Fantasy, 1995), it was love at first sight for my wife and I. We try to cruise at least once a year, with our next one coming up on April 6th on the Carnival Sunshine. This will be our 23rd cruise. As far as we are concerned, there's no better way to vacation! Great food, fabulous entertainment and fantastic ports of call. We HIGHLY recommend cruising to friends and family.

We just got off the Victory on Friday. Today I talked to a Carnival rep about our next cruise. This was our third one together since our first one in 2004. I took one with my sister in 2002 and hubby and I did a 7-day Southern Caribbean in 2011 - before my world was turned completely upside down by my Dad having a near-fatal heart infection Aug 2012 and my Mom being diagnosed with cancer in May 2013 and losing her battle a short 4 months later. It has taken a while for us to get our footing back. I finished grad school and my Dad remarried and then I booked this 25th anniversary cruise we did last week. It was pure heaven and I'm looking forward to our next one.

We live in NC and I like big ships so we typically go out of FL. We spend a lot of time in the summer on our beaches so we aim to cruise every other year - so I'm not "suffering" from my addiction as bad as some of you....or am I, if it means you go more often yet I don't get my fix as often?! LOL!

2x's a year addicted ;p....now that DS has started High School and we are in full on Marching Band season we have to stick to twice a year I think. We are back on Magic the week before Christmas and then again in April next spring...it helps that we live so close to the east coast and can easily drive to port, no airfare and not a lot of hotel expense makes all the difference.

Oh yes, I am a confirmed cruiseaholic. I remember as a child reading about Christopher Columbus and the other explorers who would spend a couple of years on the sea just getting to their destination. I thought it unbelievable and I could not believe that anyone could spend that much time on a ship.

Little did I know then that I would follow in their foot steps. I put 2 years in the navy and have 20 Carnival cruises under my belt with 2 more purchased. So I figure I have about 500 days actually at sea to date.

Chocolate melting cake, entertainment, Bingo, the Casino, ports to visit, etc, no wonder Christopher sailed the 7 seas. Actually, he did not have it as bad as I first thought.

21 cruises, 137 days, 5 cruise lines since August 2006

I was hooked on the first cruise, a four-day quick trip to Cozumel in an ocean view room with my mother and my aunt. I have enjoyed reading through this thread. Thanks, OP, for starting the discussion. My name is Jenny, and I am a cruise-a-holoic. It's been 144 days since my last cruise. ;)

Like many of you, I really look forward to the next cruise and no matter how many times I step aboard, I'm happy and excited to be getting on the ship. I love sea days and now that we have sailed the same itineraries a number of times, we are happy to stay on board at least at one port on a sailing. Loving the experience on the ship is one of the indicators that you love cruising even more than the travel aspect of the vacation. I'm not a gambler, I don't go to all of the shows, and I rarely participate in the games. I'll participate in the roll calls some, but I'm not all that social on board unless we are talking about cruising. :)

I'm hooked because of the water around me and the options available when I want to "do" something. I can't get enough of the mornings up on the top deck before the LIDO music has started and walking the track with the ship sailing through the deep ocean, water as far as my eye can see. I love sitting on the balcony and looking at the ocean in the morning, in the afternoon, and in the evening. It never gets old for me.

I love God and my family more than anything in this world, but cruising is my favorite thing. Some of my happiest and most peaceful memories of the last ten years have been on a cruise. One of my favorite sea days was a cold February day with DH, the balcony door open, and one of the best afternoon naps of my life. I'm grateful to have cruised as much as we have, and I'm very happy to have two cruises booked in the next seven months. My pocketbook is stretched, but my heart is happy.

If it's been 144 days, you're probably not addicted.

I've been cruising over 30 years, always have traveled and never "waited". It has increased, now cruising at least monthly, but itineraary is what is important to me. I don't cruise just cruise to cruise, and rarely take Carnival. They are too restrictive. They are my go to for Western Caribbean but I only go there a couple times per year. I got off cruise 134 on Monday. My travels are South America in the winter, along with Caribbean, at least 2 trips to Europe every year, 3 this year, including 2 month trip in October, at least 2 Alaska cruise every year, 3 in 2017, plus a couple Bermuda.

always a Hawaii land trip every year too.

I take advantage of a lot of cheap last minute deals. Firm believer that the world is small and live for today :)

Like you I began cruising in 2010. Despite some difficulties (ie falling down flight of stairs, sea sickness......) I fell in love with cruising and with the sea. We have completed 10 cruises now with 5 more booked. In 54 days we will do our first European cruise B2B with a Transatlantic cruise. 20 glorious days at sea!
