Summary of "recent" changes on RCI

Recommended Posts

  • 1 month later...

FYI - if you cruise on or after December 31, 2017 and one person in your cabin buys the alcohol package, all adults in that cabin will be required to buy one as well. I spoke to a "resolution manager" with RCL today as we are cruising on Oasis in a couple weeks and on the Rhapsody in January. My husband always bought the beer package, however beginning December 31, 2017, fleet wide, if one person in the cabin buys the alcohol package, all adults in that cabin over 21 are required to buy (even if they don't drink). Does not matter to RCL if the other adult is a non-drinker. I explained to the resolution manager that I have a medical condition and explained to the "resolution manager " what is was and that it does not allow me to drink......does not matter. So much for the "exceptions" that I saw on one website of pregnant; medical condition; personal preference and/or religion. Needless to say, even though we are Diamond Plus, Rhapsody will be our last cruise. Thanks for the compassion RCL...NOT!

So your Diamond Plus and do not know that with RCI, if you don't like the answer, call back an hour later and get a different answer.

Especially with things that are different or new (like the drink package change).

I can confirm that this is correct. FNDR really only at Giovani and Sabor. This was on Sept 17.

Actually works better for Solo passengers than the BOGO pro motion.

Is this limitation mentioned when people order pre-cruise? Sabor for FNDR is not a great deal.

Oh, and do we have to address you as "Your Pinnacleness" now?

I don't recall, I booked FNDR for all these Oasis trips a while ago. I have since cancelled them all. :halo:

I thought it would be Painicleness?

I'm only a slight pain, probably no different that previously.

I did cause some pain for the communications department (VOOM) because of the Liberty crashing our port side WiFi signal. They gave me an access code for Liberty.

That issue should probably be it's own thread. :halo:

That's happened to me multiple times.

Would it be so hard for the SSID to be qualified by ship name? Like "Royal WiFi Oasis". I think guests would be able to handle that.

I mentioned that to the guest services officer and got a blank stare. They may be starting that. Here is what my phone shows.

royal-wifi

libertywifi

royalcrew

oawvoip

Lucky for me, T-Mobile has Mexico and most of the Caribbean at no charge, just 2G speeds.

It does not work in Costa Maya, though.

Such a good point. We sail before the end of this year, and were actually told it's already in effect for Grandeur, but I was able to purchase a package just for DD online... but they would "note our account" because I don't drink...

I see the changes as positive. First of all I only order Room Service for the continental breakfast due to an early shore excursion. We much prefer to take our meals in the MDR , Windjammer or Park Cafe/Cafe Promenade.

To me we are never in our room that much except to catch up on the news or take a nap and for sleeping. For our next cruise I booked us an Interior as it was $100+ dollars less expensive. I end up coming back from dancing at 1 AM anyways so whats the point?

The non-refundable pricing is more than fair. Just like booking airfare if I am not 100 percent sure I won't book the same with the cruise. I only put down one deposit per cruise and don't take up space we don't need.

As for specialty dining I love that they have the BOGO for the first two nights of the cruise for $30 per passenger for two restaurants. .

Being able to use your OBC and purchase shore excursions, pay for specialty dining is great.

Royal has a great team and is very hard working. I just go with the punches. I could be home right? Those complaining don't know how good they have it.

If the food were that bad in the MDR perhaps you are not specific on what you want. We have had very good food in the MDR. The Windjammer also has good food as well as does the other venues.

$15 Corkage Fee we ask for two wine glasses from our wine steward and open it in our room and walk to the venu with our wine glasses. If it was a special occasion and we bought a good bottle of wine then I guess the $15 is just like any land based restaurant. It is what it is.

My gosh people can nitpick just like they do for hotels and other travel vendors and then they go and bash them and not give the crew a chance to fix the issue. I have seen a complainer run up and say "I am Diamond + now fix this item now and I mean now".

FYI we were at a RC/TA event last night and was told there is to be a fish Restaurant on Symphony and it might be where 150 Central Park was on other Oasis ships.

Independence is getting some floor to ceiling Windows in some of the cabins.

I agree. We asked Royal to do something about the cabin hogs. They did, we wished they would have applied it do JS as well.

Room Service Charge does not affect us.

Campaigning for Status Levels set by dollars spent. Includes fares (cabins), speciality dinning, Chefs Table, Spa Treatments, wine tasting, beer tasting, ship tours, galley lunches, casino, and Royal Excursions.

They give you extra points for treatments, wine tasting, beer tasting, galley lunches and excursions?? I guess I'm getting screwed.
