Rare mysty Posted July 10, 2018 #4504 Share Posted July 10, 2018 These groups would probably work much better on larger ships where their presence might be "watered down" by the throngs of other passengers. Definitely not a good plan for smaller ships. Perhaps this was happening to drive up the bottom line in preparation for the sale.
UKCruiseJeff Posted July 10, 2018 #4505 Share Posted July 10, 2018 I’m not clear that any Silversea customer expects or would choose or prefer to share with a very large group and not sure that it enhances the experience in any way at all. Two more UK resignations ..... both Vice Chairs of the Conservative party.
Rare mysty Posted July 10, 2018 #4506 Share Posted July 10, 2018 J...I meant much larger ships than SS has. :) Like in the 3,000 people range. Not on ships with fewer than 1,000 passengers. Are the rats abandoning ship?
Daveywavey70 Posted July 10, 2018 #4507 Share Posted July 10, 2018 Well I’ve just posted my review of the Silver Spirit. I held off till now to give SS a chance to rectify things but Inthink 2 months is quite fair.

Stumblefoot Posted July 10, 2018 #4511 Share Posted July 10, 2018 Oh dear And that one also had a large group booked. Starting to see a disturbing pattern here. :( And it was a sales incentive group.I think JollyJones was on that voyage as well and may have a different perspective of the impact the group had. I thought she posted her thoughts somewhere in the forum, but I can't find it currently. Not discounting the Muse review at all, but from what I understand this group was nothing compared to what transpired with the group on the Whisper. UKCruiseJeff Posted July 10, 2018 #4512 Share Posted July 10, 2018 Over two weeks, and with Mark's help .... this. Thank you for taking the time to put together your very detailed reply, the contents of which we have very carefully considered. I want to say again that we are very sorry for any disruption to your enjoyment as a result of the group who were aboard during your voyage. We rightly expect all of our guests to be considerate to others and to behave in a way that one would expect on a Silversea voyage. It is very rare that we have a situation where a small number of guests choose to spoil some aspects of the voyage for fellow guests. The organisation behind this particular group have worked with Silversea before and we had no indication as to the unacceptable behaviour displayed by a small number of their guests. Nevertheless we do recognise that the group did cause some disruption and upset your voyage experience for which we apologise. From a learning viewpoint, we will look at what we could have done better in the situation and review our policy for the acceptance of incentive group bookings so this does not happen again. We would greatly appreciate the opportunity to restore your confidence in our company, and therefore want to amend our previous offer, inviting you to travel with us again at a 20% saving on your next Silversea voyage. This saving is valid for the cruise fare only and will be applied to your booking in addition to any other applicable Venetian Society or promotional savings. In addition, we would also like to extend to you a shipboard credit for US$500.00 in total to be used on your next voyage. Shipboard credits can be used for on-board expense like shore excursions, spa treatments, premium wines and spirits, speciality restaurants fees, purchases in the Internet Café or Boutique – but not in the Casino. I should also say shipboard credits are non-redeemable for cash and non-refundable. When you have made a new booking, please contact us again with your reservations details, so we can make the necessary arrangements to have the 20% saving and shipboard credit applied to your booking. We have proactively written to all of our guests, outside of the group, with the same explanation, apology and offer for a future saving. Our approach in rare situations like this is to proactively contact all guests affected in each of our markets so that we remain fair to all. Thank you again for choosing Silversea Cruises. We appreciate your continued support and apologise once again for this unfortunate event. Yours sincerely,

newlondon Posted July 10, 2018 #4515 Share Posted July 10, 2018 It looks to me as if Mark's hands were at least partially tied. That does not come close to the settlement we received when he was at RSSC.

Presumably the CEO ties other peoples’ hands rather than have his own tied. :D

Rare Tothesunset Posted July 10, 2018 #4518 Share Posted July 10, 2018 Incidentally, in the unlikely event that anyone feels the need to support BoJo, it seems that he was capable of lying even in his resignation letter: https://www.channel4.com/news/factcheck/factcheck-boris-johnson-lied-about-eu-safety-regulation-in-his-resignation-letter
UKCruiseJeff Posted July 10, 2018 #4519 Share Posted July 10, 2018 If BoJo hd been on the remain side of the argument I have always felt that the margin would have been even greater for Brexit. He was a huge liability because of his lack of trustworthiness and credibility.

Enough people were hoodwinked into voting for him in London Mayoral and General Elections. Maybe some thought a blatant buffoon was somehow a good thing? Enough people were hoodwinked into voting for him in London Mayoral and General Elections. Maybe some thought a blatant buffoon was somehow a good thing? In a way, I begrudgingly felt he was a good London Mayor in that his personality made London sort of look like a fun place to visit. He was a sort of fun figure head and good at campaigning for London but I suspect he was poor on the detailed management stuff.

UKCruiseJeff Posted July 11, 2018 #4524 Share Posted July 11, 2018 LOVELY funny M ... and thanks for the thoughts. Still enraged after the latest Silversea nonsense. Wifey read their emal and summed their position up as ..The twilight world in which Silversea management appear to exist mandates that they compensate those that have no complaint with an unexpected and unrequested “windfall” but offer no compensation to those that had a genuine complaint “because it would be unfair to those we compensated that had no complaint” . You really couldn’t make this stuff up.
Mudhen Posted July 11, 2018 #4525 Share Posted July 11, 2018 So sorry to still hear about the long suffering Jeffys and Daveys. You've really been put through the wringer..... Things aren't wonderful here at the Wishe household either as my (our) dream home in Rhode Island has fallen through. Assorted issues and a bad radon reading made for a mess, so we bailed. Really, really liked that one....sniff....too bad! In better news, we have 2 months to go before our Spirit TA. With all of the bad news about SS over here, it's sort of taken the bloom off the rose so to speak. Hoping for the best...
