Hello all curious where Celebrity docks in New Orleans and is there much to see and do within wheeling distance of ship. Will be docked there for 3 days this April.

thanks in advance.

Jazz Festival Cruise? We enjoyed that itinerary this past April/May. Can walk to/from French Quarter.

Must do in New Orleans, especially if you encounter rain - World War II museum - excellent exhibits! We signed up for walking tours with Free Walking Tours - unfortunately, the Garden District tour was rained out.

Enjoy your cruise!

Just returned home from spending almost 3 weeks in NOLA so if you have any questions just ask! Definitely make reservations for either lunch or dinner at Ted’s on Decatur....one of the best dining experiences EVER!!!

There are 2 trolleys in New Orleans. One runs parallel to the river with stops every 2 blocks or so, that will take you down to the French Market, French Quarter, Jackson Square, Cafe du Monde. The trolley used to be cash only, that may not be true anymore, just check about tickets before you ride all the way down to the end, LOL!

It is also a doable walk to any of these places, but by April/May it will be quite hot to most people, and if anyone is mobility challenged there are a lot of uneven narrow sidewalks.

The other trolley goes out to the Garden District, you can catch the outbound (?west?, directions in NOLA always confuse me because of the river) to Lafayette Circle, Garden Street mansions, the zoo and Audubon Park. The cool thing about this is that the Garden Street Trolley uses the old original trolleys from way back when, riders are mostly tourists, but there are also a number of commuters that ride the trolleys, so it is an interesting mixture of NOLA life.

Another fun thing to do if you have young folk is to get a combo ticket for the Aquarium and the Zoo with the Zoo cruise - you do the Aquarium in the morning, take a ferry like boat to the Zoo, then ride the trolley back to Canal Street.

I haven't even touched on the restaurants, there are a bunch convenient to the pier - both fine dining and fun dining.

I'm 75 miles from downtown New Orleans. A fun thing to do if you like it is walk and shop and eat down Magazine Street. Lots of boutiques and specialty shops and little hole-in-the-wall fabulous cafes, etc. Talking to the local people who own the stores is great fun and a good way to learn the city.

If possible, rent a car and get away from the French Quarter - there is so much more to New Orleans and vicinity than that. If you're going to be there 3 days you could really do a little bit of everything from 2 hours west in Lafayette (Cajun country) and see plantations up on Highway 61 near St. Francisville, north of Baton Rouge. The biggest one is actually between NO and BR on the west bank in the town of White Castle: Nottaway Plantation is the largest restored one. You can tour and eat there. The most beautiful (and this is obviously subjective) is Rosedown just south of St. Francisville - no expense was spared to restore that gorgeous mansion).

A lot of people like the spooky stuff. The supposedly most haunted house in America is The Myrtles up in St. Francisville. I think it's cheesy but for some it's an item crossed off the bucket list ha ha.

Make reservations NOW for Commander's Palace. We like Mr. B's in the French Quarter, but if you google you can find a lot of the really great new restaurants. If there's a theatre production, check out the Saenger Theatre on Canal St. It's one of the gorgeous old historical theaters. It was closed for a number of years following Katrina but the restoration is beautiful.

These days we pretty much avoid NO as we've lived here forever and when I go it's just destination oriented - I'm going to X and X shop or restaurant or Broadway production. (but we have the same and similar restaurants and food here).

I will 'second' going to the WWII museum. It's world class. My dad was a WWII pilot and I've taken him there several times. His plane (he flew the Hump) hangs there - not HIS actual plane but the C46. It really rivals any museum anywhere. Go as early in the day as you can.

Just don't hang around the port only. For 3 days you can see so much more than the French Quarter. I'd be tempted to spend one night away somewhere. A gentle suggestion: don't get involved in any fortune telling or street games in the Quarter. Not a good business to involve yourself with. Watch your personal belongings. Some bad stuff happens down there (like any big city but there's an added element in NO) and if you play the naive tourist ...
