Casino rate

The last we booked we were given the casino rate. I am so grateful for the discount, but my husband doesn’t gamble a ton on board. I rarely donate money to the casino. How do they decide who gets this rate and does it get offered every time?

No, it doesn't get offered all the time. We were fortunate to get casino rates on our last two cruises (Royal and Regal). I had another offer for an Alaskan cruise next month, but the dates don't work for me. I keep checking the prices of the cruises the following week, but nothing great yet.

Join the casino program for Princess and all other lines that you travel on. Even if you gamble very little, you might see casino rates show up in your email.

He did join the casino program. I’ll have to see if I did.

How do you join the casino program?

I think if you use your cruise card in a slot machine (or maybe register with the casino at one of the windows) you've joined? But maybe others have more and better information.

I "think" it's called the Ocean Player's Club but not certain of that. I don't know if just using the casino (with your cruise card - not cash) gets you into the system or not. I did gamble a bit on our last cruise but only until I had turned $200 into $150. It was "play money" anyway but I still didn't want to lose it all. Normally our OBC doesn't even cover the gratuities but we ended up with $800 OBC for a 14 day cruise so I figured "what the heck" and played the slots a bit. We ended up with a final bill of $14.89 and I cashed out $150 the next to last day of the cruise so we definitely still came out ahead. :D Even better, we booked our flights home using "miles" plus a total of $11.20 and then took a move over flight for $800 in vouchers and another $400 promised to come via email. Definitely the most "profitable" cruise we have ever taken. ;p

I was hoping that merely playing the slots would get in the system but I'm not sure if that's how it works or not so am looking forward to seeing what folks here have to say about it. We would dearly love to get a casino offer!

The only time I contacted Ocean Players was about five years ago to get a printout. We don't gamble that much but might play $200 if we are winning on slots/video poker plus the tournaments. That seems to be enough to trigger emails. Latest offer was $399 balcony/$199 inside on 10 day Caribbean Princess cruise (plus a few others like Med, coastal, Panama we were not interested in).

For grins I followed the link and on the inside/ov/balcony/suite page the prices were MUCH higher. Clicked on balcony and price was suddenly available for forward guarantee only. Three weeks later got assignment to Carib mid-aft cabin. Was NOT planning on taking another cruise this year but $1152 for 10 days with taxes and insurance was way too good a deal to turn down. And apparently other folks who gamble more got even better offers.

This casino email really was just identified only in the header - it looked very much like the normal sale offers we get every week or so. And it does only apply to a few sailings. I have also seen larger "get casino OBC" offers on groups of cruises but they didn't have the great rate we got on this one without casino OBC.

The other option is to just call and ask. I couldn't take advantage of the discount that I was offered when I left my last cruise. When I decided to book my next one, I called my TP and he gave me casino rates. I ended up getting a Window suite for the same price as a balcony and the perks that were being offered at the time. I then emailed the Ocean Players Club and they gave me free casino play on the same cruise.
