Please explain the math on this buy one get one 50% deluxe beverage package.

I called and asked the same question. They said it’s 25% of each person in cabin. That looks like false advertising to me.

$60 apiece with 50% off the second is $90

It's pretty simple math.

Voodoo math. $48 is not the on-board price from which they calculate the discount. In fact you would never know the actual on-board pricing unless you were actually on-board. No matter what special they run, the best price on-line is almost always going to be in the $45 - $48 range.

I was on the Harmony last September and October and the drink package onboard was 3 different prices over 3 different weeks. The last week was the same as the third weeks price. 🤨

RC is notorious for changing the name of sales and promotions, but they all seem to equal the same end price. Pricing strategies I guess, but annoying when you try to understand it. But as previously said, we just go by if we like the price or not.

I agree, very simple. But I am amazed at how people many can’t, or won’t, do a simple percentage calculation. Just watch how many people have to ask the price when something is marked 50% off. The cruise lines know this as well and have learned how to market the same price in multiple ways to make it sound like a better deal.

Dynamic pricing for lots of things has been around for a bit now - that's why it's so hard to answer any pricing question on here with any certainty.

I've noticed there are basically three tiers of discounts for pre-cruise Deluxe package sales. 20% off is the standard everyday price. A couple weekends a month they offer 25% off (aka BOGO 50% off). On rare occasions they offer 30% off. My advice is if you are within 3 months of your cruise take the 25% off/BOGO if you see it, but otherwise hold out for the 30% off sale.

To me, it is not confusing at all. Most %off sells are off of the original full price. When you see something in a store on sell for 50% off, it is typically 50% off of the full retail price, not the previous sell price.

See here is the problem with you both thinking it is very easy to figure out. Those who are sailing for the first time or have never gotten the drink package before do not know what the onboard cost is for the package. I had no clue the "regular" price is $60 per day as I do not think I saw it posted anywhere on their advertisement.

Here is a spreadsheet to see if it is worth it. Just change the package cost to what you would be paying and put the amounts of what drinks you would typically get in a day on the ship.

This is awesome, thank you so much. I thought the gratuities were included in the package prices of the deals but not on the individual prices of the drinks if you didn't have a package.... Please advise if I am incorrect.

You must add the package to your shopping cart and check out before you can see the total price.

Gratuities are included. The spreadsheet adds in the 18% gratuities automatically. There is a column on the drinks that has the cost per drink with gratuity and the total column includes gratuity And at the bottom where the package cost is, the next cell is cost plus gratuity. You can change the cost amount to whatever price you can currently get the package for.

That's a substantial savings over their current listed website price of $89.00 pp plus 20% gratuity. I was thinking there is absolutely no way for me personally justify the cost of that considering I am a light weight when it comes to alcohol. In order to drink enough to cover that exorbitant cost I'd be much to intoxicated to actually enjoy anything.

$45 to $50 a day is my sweet spot for the drink package. One should also consider the package includes your unlimited sodas as well as specialty coffees in the non-Starbucks locations. So on my Oasis cruise last August, a typical day was like this.

Morning Latte from Promenade Caffe: $5

Two to three refills of Powerade from the freestyle machines: $15 if purchased by the bottle????

Two of my favorite Sabor Grand Margaritas from Sabor: $13 each

Total so far: $46 not including gratuity

Surely not enough to be wasted. But certainly enough to justify the expense and not worry about what I'm spending on a daily basis. Plus you can always do a non-alcoholic drink if you so choose. I got my money's worth easily. But if you don't like alcohol, then the Refreshement package is a steal at $18 a day. My wife and kids had that each day and you can easily cover that cost between coffee, pop and virgin drinks.

Not everyone is fortunate enough to get 20% off. I've paid up to $55/day for Deluxe Package on Oasis via Cruise Planner. During that sailing, the onboard price was $62/day, so I only got about 10% off by purchasing in advance. My advice to anyone would be to buy the package as soon as you book your cruise, and then monitor for discounts. Cancel and purchase again if the price drops. Don't wait and "assume" that 20% off is going to be there forever.

Hi,

Last year I order the beverage package for just me. (frequent cruiser) My husband has medical issues so there is a lot of drinks, non-alchol drinks, sodas etc he cannot have. I called and received permission to order just for me but this year it has change, the second party in the cabin must get some kind of beverage package. I understand their policy for cheaper but not everyone cheats. So I opt out not to get the package!

Best price we've found for upcoming Harmony trip is working out to $42 pp per day ($49.56 with the 18% automatic gratuity). With some of the drinks (inc tax) costing approx 9.50-13.00 each, it can add up fast if you don't have the deluxe beverage package. It just depends on your level of "thirst". A couple of umbrella drinks by the pool, wine or cocktails with dinner, and a night cap in the casino and you're ahead. Well, probably not ahead in the casino, but that's a different story! ;-) Just remember that the gratuity is already factored in to the final beverage package price. Cheers!
