Putz,

I’m just catching up on your posts over the last several days. First and foremost, thank you for the photos and updates.

A few banter comments 😊:

1 - Pam looks fabulous! Hopefully one day medical science will improve her eye site. Sadly for you when it happens, you will get a ham sandwich and road map and showed the door.

2 - Unless Barnum the tent maker had a local shop, there was noooo way they would have a jacket to fit you.

3- When you signed up for the nut excursion, it probably brought back memories of your younger days as a circus performer. Back then you were rewarded with peanuts. Sadly, macadamia nuts is probably not as rewarding.

4- You are walking 11K steps a day! Either this is a typo or you meant it to be 1K or Pam is forcing you to walk it.

5- I’m not sure who you are kidding with your food and alcohol discipline. Knowing you, I’m pretty certain you have consumed more food and alcohol than the Dallas Cowboys on a road trip.

Thank you for the fun and laughs. I am signing off until Z’s next cruise. I appreciate you inviting me to this group, I’ve really enjoyed it very much. I look forward to meeting everyone on a future cruise.

Z - DO NOT READ THIS POST!

Max - in all of my years being on Cruise Critic, I cannot remember a post that made me laugh more than yours! Were you a comedian in another life? If not, should have been (or should be). However, I think that you need "Z" to bounce your comments off of:D

For those of you that have yet to meet Z and TB, you are missing a lot. They are two of the most incredibly wonderful individuals on earth. Although not a secret, I want to share that Z was/is(?) a Colonel who continues to serve our country (whether in or out of the armed forces) in many ways. He deserves all of the kudos (and slams) that we give him simply because he can take it and takes it with a smile.

It was such a pleasure to sail with them on the Explorer a year and a half ago. However, if you are reading this Z, disregard everything that I said or chickens, turkeys and roosters will hunt you down - even if you are on a cruise ship (they can fly you know!):halo:

Thank you. Z and I have been busting on each other for 39 years. He is my dearest and best friend. He is closer to me than any brother I could ever have. For the record, I am better looking, smarter, and have a much smaller girth than him. Fortunately, we had different parents. If we were true blood brothers, our parents would probably have sent him off to Boarding School.😂

I can only echo what all of the previous posters have said. John and I were on the (infamous?) Explorer TA, along with TC, Dennis and a cast of other wackos! We had the most wonderful time! Hopefully, one day, we'll have a reunion cruise with all those who were aboard that legendary cruise!

Enjoy what's left, Roberto and Pam! Best to you both.....this has been a great read. You and Mr Rumor will now be enshrined in the Pantheon for CC writers! haha!

Wow!!! There’s so much love on this thread. Sort of when Max fell in love with his cousin/sister and his dad/uncle wouldn’t let them get married until their moms got out of juvi. Thanks all and especially to you, bro, for the kind words. You know if you ever are in need I’ll be the first to lend you a quarter so you can call someone who cares. :)

Good Morning! Yesterday was a perfect sea day with beautiful sunny weather. We had a patch of rough seas in the morning but not enough to keep us from doing our laps and swimming in the pool which, by the way, is heated. Today, we look like two lobsters out of Prime 7. Part of the day was spent at the pool bar where I made up for the calories burned while walking and swapping war stories (like being picked up by the religious police in Saudi). We had a great German bbq for lunch followed with our usual cheese tray.

Dinner was as at Compass Rose and actually came out quickly. We had Dover sole and both got a side order of filet mignon and a lobster tail, but no starches, bread, or dessert. Afterwards, we had a nightcap with two other couples and called it a night at 10. We still haven’t made a show.

I believe I’ve mentioned that I start my morning in the Coffee Connection. Justus Fernandes does a great job as the barrister. I don’t even order anymore because he brings my Americano as soon as I sit.

Yesterday, Capt S sat down and had a chat over a cup of coffee. She is so awesome.

Today is Acapulco. We are going on a highlights of the city tour and people watching on the strip to see how many tourists get mugged.

BTW, in regards to tours not to be recommended, I had some folks say to not do the Porto bello tour or any tour that takes you to the old city in Panama.

Z, all I can say is that we truly miss sailing with both of you. You are making me remember such great times with this thread. Hope we can do it again soon. Give my best to Pam.

Wackos? Hmmmm, In my opinion, we were definitely wackos!;p

Looking forward to learning about safe places to walk in Acapulco so we can stop and get a margarita somewhere. The margaritas in Mexico are soooooo strong. Once we went to Puerto Vallarta and I had one extremely large margarita and the next thing I knew I was dancing in the ocean with a short dress and pantyhose on. What a hangover I had the next day!

Love the pictures of Captain Serena and Justas!

We didn't frequent the CC much when we were on the Mariner in November/December, but Justas used to come by the Mariner Lounge in the evenings. He was great, as was Captain Serena.

Z, really enjoying your posts! I want to hear about you getting picked up by the religious police in Saudi Arabia. There are so many possible ways that you would have been on there radar (let’s see- alcohol, pork, lobster, women), but how did you talk your way out of it.

Jackie, your description of the margarita incident had me laughing out loud.

We will stick to the Margarita’s onboard. Local ice we don’t trust. Been there done that and became sick with mantazumas revenge.

Good point! Unless we are fairly certain that the ice is made with bottled or boiled water, we drink margaritas with refrigerated tequila and the mix ...... no ice. I suspect that the margaritas in Cabo would be safer than in Acapulco unless you are in a modern tourist hotel.

Have never had a problem with any margarita anywhere as far as bacterial contamination. Now over indulging is another thing. If there is enough alcohol, no worries about bacteria.

OOOO! I like the way you think! More alcohol, less (or no) bacteria! haha!

Maybe we've just been lucky, but have never had a problem with ice in Mexico. Doesn't mean not to take a little care in ordering in a funky area.

Good Morning! What a great day yesterday in Acapulco. We switched our tour from a day at a resort to city highlights. We had an excellent tour guide, willie, who kept us informed and entertained. We began with a stop to see the famous cliff divers which turned out to be more entertaining than I thought. We had a special morning viewing from a hotel terrace with spectacular views.

Afterwards, I was asked by the local cliff divers’ union to pose for a lifelike sculpture.

The tour included an obligatory visit to a jewelry store where The Boss got bejeweled for a “special special tourist price.” We also drove through the new city as well as some of the areas made famous by celebrities in the 50s and 60s. Throughout the tour, Willie told us about all the famous and some infamous visitors as well as locations of movie filming to include portions of one of my favorite movies “The African Queen.”

Overall, we enjoyed the tour and were impressed with the diversity and wealth of this town. As far as security is concerned, there were military and police throughout the town and we were told it was safe to walk in the vicinity of the pier.

The rest of the day was spent napping and watching a movie until sailaway.

We had dinner with Yuki and Jim who are a great couple from Hawaii.

Here is Benji our waiter who we’ve had for almost every meal:

Dinner was pretty good. TB had scallops and salmon which was undercooked and I had lobster tail and lamb loin. BTW, I figured out that the key to taking food porn pics in the Compass Rose dining room is to use your flash.

Hey Rachel: it’s actually a story that begs to be told in person. However, it involved a stop at the Camel’s Breadth saloon (sort of like a speak easy), a nurse from Taos, NM, and an ugly American who was a John Wayne look alike. Next time we cruise together.

Actually, this cruise is known as the Margarita cruise by the bartenders. It seems that most of the guests onboard had their first margarita on Noah’s Ark and have been drinking them ever since.

We were given free margaritas yesterday by the hotel where we saw the cliff divers and at the jewelry store and both were awful. Even with my low standards, I couldn’t drink them.

I just have to share this pic of today’s sunrise. It is glorious:

Also, after eight Regent cruises, we get to attend our first Country Fair today! Yeehah! Stand by for a special edition report afterwards.

Guess that I won't be having a margarita in Acapulco! Or, it could be because they were "free". Have you ever tasted the "free" drink that you are given in the Barcardi factory in Puerto Rico? I hate throwing away booze but could not drink it!

Have to ask about the transportation that you had for this excursion. Reports on the other thread indicate a van in extremely poor condition. Were you guys in a bus, van or ???

Love the sunrise!
