lauren0309 Posted May 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 5, 2018 We have a cruise booked on Regal Princess to Canada in October. It says leaving from New York OR Brooklyn. So is it leaving from New York or Brooklyn or does that mean its not decided yet.
sunsetbeachgal Posted May 5, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2018 Regal leaves from Brooklyn, at least it has in prior years. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
satxdiver Posted May 5, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 5, 2018 They usually sail from Brooklyn and we did return to Brooklyn on our last west bound TA. However on our QC to NYC cruise a few years ago, we were notified while on the cruise that the end port had been changed to NJ. They had busses to take pax to Penn Station and to the two NY airports at a semi reasonable price but we did have to cancel our transfer arrangements at the last minute. It all worked out luckily. wheezedr Posted May 5, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 5, 2018 (edited) In recent years Princess has sailed almost exclusively from Brooklyn. There may have been a rare exception but I cannot remember it. Satx snuck in while I was typing with the exception that proves the rule. Edited May 5, 2018 by wheezedr Spellcheck
lauren0309 Posted May 5, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted May 5, 2018 Thanks everyone for your replies. Never drove to the Brooklyn terminal before. Always left from New York or New Jersey (besides Florida, Seattle and Puerto Rico). I'll have to use my GPS.
fishywood Posted May 5, 2018 #6 Share Posted May 5, 2018 Here's the official schedule from the Port Authority--just a quick google away: https://www.nycruise.com/schedule/ On turnaournd days Princess docks in Brooklyn. For intermediate port calls the ship docks in Manhattan. There are rare exceptions where more than one Princess or Cunard ship is in port the same day. But so rare that Princess should just specify which dock from the beginning. Any change would come at the same time Princess currently gets around to official notification of the correct pier currently.

From Wayne, you are going to have to transit Manhattan and then cross into Brooklyn from where you are likely to be departing. Leave plenty of time for delays. We ran into this issue on a cruise on the Caribbean Princess, due to a Hurricane we returned a day early to New York but the QM2 was in Brooklyn so we docked in Manhattan for the day. TheRabbit Posted May 7, 2018 #9 Share Posted May 7, 2018 Ports do change for this cruise. In October of 2015 the Caribbean Princess sailed from Brooklyn, but returned to New Jersey. Change was made about 4 or 5 months out I think. Wasn't a problem except for those sailing B2B had to get off the ship for one night in Quebec or pay a hefty fine. For those already booked, I think Princess paid the fine for them. Those booking after the changes had to do the night off the ship. All this was done to satisfy the Jones act. Bottom line, the port can and does change.
xDisconnections Posted May 7, 2018 #10 Share Posted May 7, 2018 All this was done to satisfy the Jones act. This was done to satisfy the PVSA... not the Jones Act. The Jones Act has no influence on cruise ship itineraries or passenger fines.
Rare Coral Posted May 7, 2018 #11 Share Posted May 7, 2018 Unfortunately, we had Brooklyn for a port stop. I wish it had been Manhattan. Manhattan is so much better.
