Carry-on luggage

Is there a limit to the number of carry-on cases you are permitted to board with?

You are limited to what you can carry. Remember you will be walking up a gangway with a lot of other people, they not to block them.

Have a good cruise.

I have never carried on more than a purse sized bag. I'm thinking of carrying on something larger next time though, so what do you all do with your carry-ons til you're "allowed" to go to the cabin? I don't want to lug everything around.

If you can carry it and fit it through the scanner, go for it.

I usually have a couple, one full of camera gear, one with medications and a change of clothes.

Mrs Gut has one of electronics one with medications and a change of clothes

We never check bags. If you peruse these boards, you will find ample evidence for my reasoning. I usually stick them in a corner at the buffet, and by the time we are done there, the rooms are ready. Then we are able to fully unpack well before muster. If the rooms weren't ready when we are done eating, they would accompany us to the pool.

Find a place away from the crowd, have a seat, and be patient. There are usually some empty seats on the Promenade deck opposite the casino.

Is it possible to drop off your carry on items at your cabin even if it isn't ready yet?
If you're a priority passenger (P/D/FTTF), on occasion they don't have all of those cabins ready, even though they're technically supposed to be. I've seen many people say that the stewards usually don't mind if you drop off your bags in your cabin in these instances. I'd just make sure they're out of the way if they need to get around in the cabin. But if you're not priority, then no, you're not even supposed to be in the hallways.

A couple years ago, we had our three carry-ons with us during lunch at the Lido buffet. It wasn't great, but wasn't that big a deal either. One of us waited with the bags at our table while the others got their food. We just tucked 'em under the table or beside us while we ate. We'll have FTTF next month, so it'll be nice to drop 'em off right away, but we'd carry them with us in the future if we had to.

You lug them around until about 1:30 PM when they open access to cabins.

I carry on a backpack with electronics, sunscreen, passports, meds, etc. The bag I check is usually a very large rolling suitcase that is hard to lose. If I carry on any clothes, its my trunks for swimming.

I carry on everything I can fit in my cargo shorts pockets. Wallet, passport, phone, and car keys.

I don't carry valuables. (except for my $800.00 iPhone)

The price of the cruise includes delivery service of my bags to my room. See no reason to do it myself. It takes me 10 minutes to unpack. Most of the time, in Hotels, I would just open my suitcase, and that's unpacking for me.

For those can't relax until unpacked, I'm just the opposite. I can't relax until I have a beer in my hand, sitting someplace, and watching the comedy act of people trying to lug suitcases, and kids around and getting mad that they have to do this, when the solution was simple, hand it to the porter.

Since folk are different, there is always more than one solution. I pack everything I need for a 7 day or longer cruise into my one carry on. I don't need multiple pieces of luggage, hence no porters. As Diamond, I can wheel my one 21" luggage through the terminal, up the gangway bridge, onto the ship, up to my room and be unpacked in 15 minutes. Vacation then begins for this cruiser!

I'm not really a people watcher, unless they are intentionally performing (karaoke, stage acts, etc). I don't generally find entertainment/comedy/enjoyment from watching others struggle.

Good for you that you can travel lightly, but those 'parents with kids getting mad' having to lug stuff around don't necessarily have the simple solution you do. Some people have medications and medical equipment larger than would fit in a pocket that are advised to be carried on and not checked. Very young children are often still in diapers or at least would be wise for parents to have a change of clothes, requiring at least a small bag. Some people enjoy photography (beyond what a $800 iPhone does) and would want to carry their equipment.

The nice thing is that there are options for all of us.

That's just one of the resident jerks here who rarely has anything good to say about anyone who handles their cruise differently than he does. He's made it perfectly clear many times that he doesn't like Carnival (after a bad experience), no longer cruises Carnival, and only comes to the Carnival boards to bash the company and try to convince others to switch cruise lines. Rational people can grasp the fact that everyone's different and the way some people do things isn't best for others.

This is how we pack. One carry-on per person (for a while we packed for 4 of us in 3 carry-ons, but now the boy is old enough to pull his own bag!), no matter how we travel or for how long.

I am a "one-bag" evangelist, but I understand it's not for everyone. My wife and I got on board the one-bag thing (and always carrying our own stuff) when there was a threatened baggage handler strike as we left for our honeymoon. We've never looked back.

You have to lug it around. Unless you get FTTF, then you can drop the cases in your cabin. I always have a tote and rolling carry on bag upon boarding.

We always carry all our luggage on now. I never relax until I am unpacked!

Even for a 13 day!

That’s what I’d love to do, but all of our personal products take up so much room, weigh a lot, and then would have to be checked luggage. No matter how I’ve tried, I can’t seem to get everything in just a carry on. We usually have 2 medium suitcases and a carry on. Plus my tote bag.
