Platinum disembarkation

Just off the Escape with Platinum status.  We had to pick up luggagee  tags since they were not delivered to our cabin as on other lines.  ONLY Haven passengers get special perks on both ends of a sailing (private seating area in NY terminal with food and beverages).  Platinum gets you nothing with NCL!!!! Yellow tags are not even put out -- you must ask for them and show your card.  You need to get on the long line that goes around the ship to get off as soon as the last self-carry group departs the ship.  No desiginated area for Platinums to sit and wait until you are able to get off.  We waited as close as possible to our departure time to go to deck 7 and sat on chairs in the Casino.  Once in the terminal in NY (at least) we quickly found our luggage since there are not too many Platinum members on board.

Once you reach the equivalent of Platinum status you have a designated waiting area with seats and refreshments.  If there is any delay, at least you are sitting comfortably instead of waiting on a line that winds around the ship with grumbling passengers.

I just got off Escape yesterday nov 11th, and this was not my experience at all and I'm was only gold on this cruise.  Did exactly what I did last time asked a friendly crew member where to go for priority disembark for gold n above they told me five o'clock somewhere lounge same as my last cruise.  We were escorted off thru the cruise quarters and missed that line, it's good for easy walk off or with tags, easy walk off escort was at 730 or with tags 830.  Surprised you didn't get same service as platinum?  Suggest asking at guest services in future maybe?

We had to ask at Guest Services for the yellow tags since they were not put out with the other colors.  No mention by GS of where to wait to get off the ship when they handed us the yellow tags.  I question why they would not tell us at that  point.  Unlike NCL, other lines deliver the correct tags to your cabin along with special instructions on where to wait until your color tag is called.  Normally, we would leave after self carry, the suites/Haven guests and passengers needing special assistance.

Getting an elevator was a real problem!  After about 10 elevators arrived full, we, along with about 8 others, rode up to deck 17 after stopping on every floor and we began the descent again stopping on every floor on the way down to deck 7.  Found seats in the casino as close to the end of the line as possible and waited until yellow tags were called to leave  the ship.  Once again we had to wait to get an elevator in the terminal due to the large number of wheel chairs and baby strollers.

There is no priority disembarkation for Platinum. Only yellow luggage tags. If you got escorted off, you were not suppose to be there.

Whatever the reason, it certainly sounds like you got something that you shouldn't have. Probably a misunderstanding, although it is odd that it happened twice,

For anyone else reading this, I wouldn't expect to have the experience as reported here. As has been stated, no latitudes level should give this, so if you go with the expectation of this happening then you are likely to be disappointed.

That's not to say that it can't happen, as is demonstrated by this persons experience, but it is way above what that tier qualifies you for.

Yes, that’s right. The yellow tags are available at guest services and are not put out for the general public.

We had yellow tags, and were called right after the walkoffs.  after standing still for about 15 minutes, our line moved and we were in the terminal, gathering our bags.

This was on the Dawn, after disembarking in Boston on November 9th.

Just double checked the rewards page on My NCL and sure enough Gold level gets priority Debarkation. The footnote for that perk says you must get the details from the cruise next/ guest services desk by showing your room card. There are lots of perks where the footnote say to get in you must see the guest services desk.

I also noticed that they have eliminated the switching of restaurants for the dining perk but have included all four of the most popular ones - and that it is now one dinner per stateroom and not per member - on the other hand each member gets a free bag of laundry.

I am looking forward to the shore ex discount coupled with the per port perk on my next cruise.

The changes to the latitudes benefits you are referring to happened almost two years ago now. It isn't just one dinner per stateroom, it is two dinners for two per stateroom (one at Cagneys or Le Bistro and one at Moderno or La Cucina.

As for the priority disembarkation, yes that is stated as a benefit, but what it actually means is that you get luggage tags which are called off before the general tags. That is most certainly the case, and is what people have been receiving for a long time. The experience that the previous poster is reporting is not standard.,

Wow, my experience is total different and I'm only gold.  With gold you get priority disembark just like platinum.  On our Escape cruise in Dec we wanted to do the walk off ourselves but wanted to first off after suites, we asked at the desk and they told us to be at the 5 o'clock somewhere bar at a certain time and someone would escort us off, the did escort the few who showed up off via private cruise quarters elevator and we were directly behind haven passengers, it was awesome

Wow. Thanks for the information. On our next cruise we will be in the Haven but that will still leave us three tier credits short of platinum. I looked on my NCL page to confirm that golds also get priority disembarkation. I think the confusion is because golds don't get priority embarkation. We allways travel light and will just follow the suite guests after showing our gold cards.

Always receive group 1 embarking on cruises. Disembarkation priority is also listed as a "perk" for platinum members. I have never been able to determine on any of the 15 NCL cruises where you go for priority disembarkation at final port. Have asked concierge, guest services, and officers, and no one even seems to know this is on the list of so called "perks" . So we usually just end up in regular line for walk off with our luggage. Don't want to wait for a group or color of luggage tags to be called. Anyone know about where to go for priority disembarkation (other than Haven):o

All that it involves is for your cabin steward to walk you to the front of the line getting off the ship. You can leave at any time you want. It is not a big deal, and depending on the ship only saves you a few minutes.

On other cruise lines they have special boarding and departure lounges for Platinum/Diamond and suite passenger only.  This entitles the passengers to priority boarding and departure as well.

NCL does not do this.  You get a color tag that allows you to get off the ship sooner than most of the passengers.  Although Haven guests who may not have Platinum status are allowed to leave earlier as well because they are in the Haven.

My last two NCL cruises have been in suites so we had special gold tags for our luggage and it was in in much smaller pile to go through. Both times we were told that we could leave the ship anytime we wanted as the gold tags would not be called. We were told to go to the theatre to avoid the lines. On our last cruise we had a post cruise excursion and were escorted off with it.

Actually, in my experience, NCL does have special boarding areas for Platinum (and above) in many ports. The priority boarding benefit is worth having.

I'd agree on disembarkation. Just the colour tag.
