oh, dear, we are going to Lima on our Royal Princess cruise...

Might have to think about doing a Princess shore tour there instead of a private one.... hmmmmm

Research it for both options and also for a contingency if something goes pear shape on the private tour. Then make your decision.

We have been to Lima four or five times (one of those was on a land tour). None of our tours of Lima have been with Princess. We didn't notice any particular traffic congestion. It was more than in Brisbane, but not as bad as in some other cities. A local tour operator will have their plans taking the usual traffic into account. I wouldn't worry, but tell the tour operator your latest time to be back at the ship is half an hour earlier than it really is. We do that in any port where we do a private tour.

We were last in Lima in 2016, it was chaos. Been there 4 times, including a stay of 3 weeks when my son lived there. The road trip from Callao @ the port into central Lima is often gridlocked. Compliance with traffic laws appears voluntary.:evilsmile: The Road infrastructure leaves much to be desired, they seem to keep running out of money to complete projects.:(

The locals are also prone to bunging on a demo in Lima CBD at short notice, which does help re traffic delays. The South Americans do get a bit excited sometimes.

I would recommend anyone going there to carefully plan their shorex, ships tour or private, as per the advice of Aus Traveller.

Buenos Dias, Senors, Senoritas, Senoras.

Cheers, I wonder if the ship next door is from Colombia or Spain?

Colombians probably sold it to the Germans. What a lovely scenic container port Callao is. The colours of those containers are just beautiful to the eye.
