mom2tcdx2 Posted July 2, 2018 #26 Share Posted July 2, 2018 Personally I only buy cocktails, mostly Martinis of some sort and Margaritas. No bottled waters, no sodas, no coffee, no juices, no beer and no wine and I have found I easily get my money's worth. Our package was $45 a day, which for drinks at $13, 4 of them would be $52 which is over the amount I spent. I have issue ordering 4 drinks in a day. One around lunch, another mid afternoon, maybe 1 before dinner, 1 with dinner and 1 after is easily 5. That then doesn't add in any water or soda if I should happen to wish to purchase those, even though I rarely do.

dbancroft Posted July 3, 2018 #31 Share Posted July 3, 2018 Do not forget the free drinks for diamond and above you get every evening these are usually all we can handle we do not drink at home. We usually end up getting canned soda for our free evening drinks
Goodtime Cruizin Posted July 3, 2018 #32 Share Posted July 3, 2018 Maybe they just don't want to take the space stocking the water. In May while on Brilliance out of Amsterdam, they delivered a case of water for our friends that sailed with us. I forgot how much they charged. He was able to order it on-line. Kmangel Posted July 3, 2018 #33 Share Posted July 3, 2018 I like a glass of wine with dinner, but even then I find I don’t want one every day of my cruise. A drink package would be a waste of money for me. I do like the coffee card, though. My husband and I share it. We like to stop to get a specialty coffee before breakfast for our first cup of the day. I can skip drinking alcohol for a day while on a cruise, but there is absolutely no going without at least two cups of coffee for me each day! sgmn Posted July 3, 2018 #34 Share Posted July 3, 2018 Does anyone know when the package will be on sale the present price I see on the RCL site is 53USD per day. Our cruise in September has dropped to $39 (plus gratuities) a day. Before it was either $42 or $45. I've never seen it so cheap before

mdsgu Posted July 3, 2018 #36 Share Posted July 3, 2018 Our Majesty cruise, about a month ago, was offering the Deluxe package for $47pppd. I booked it. My wife and I talked about it and decided it might not be worth it, so I cancelled. Then it went to $50pppd. I've been getting nervous about it, thinking we are going to spend a lot more a la carte. Today, it went back to $47. Since my wife doesn't think she'll get her money's worth, I checked the Refreshment package, which went down to $18 from $26. I called RC, and they were more than happy to sell me the Deluxe package and her the Refreshment package, no questions asked, for $304 total. st5310 Posted July 3, 2018 #40 Share Posted July 3, 2018 We're still debating the beverage package. We're not big drinkers at all but will have a couple on sea days by the pool, a martini before dinner and usually one after dinner, too. Both of our upcoming cruises are port intensive. On previous cruises we were able to bring water onboard, not sure if that is still the case. And we do drink a lot of water so that is beneficial. I just can't decide if it's worth it on port intensive cruises. Any thoughts are appreciated. BayouCruiser, if you're consuming 4 or more drinks a day on a cruise, then you are a big drinker. I'll leave the number-crunching to others, bit I think the package would be a good idea for you.

BalekFekete Posted July 3, 2018 #43 Share Posted July 3, 2018 I use the 5 drink break-even that everyone has mentioned, and never have a problem hitting that thereby making it worthwhile. One to two Mimosas with breakfast, two glasses of wine with dinner, and one drink with evening entertainment is an absolute certainty every day whether in port or at sea. For me it's a no-brainer and, for the DW, as others have said it brings the benefit of trying something new out without the risk of wasting the money. Another no-brainer. :)

My wife drinks more than four bottles of water, and 4 or more soft drinks as well as about 4 frozen VIRGIN cocktails along with fresh juice at breakfast on average cruise day IF NOT MORE.. You are kidding aren't you? bosco
SeeTheSeas18 Posted July 3, 2018 #46 Share Posted July 3, 2018 Hahahahahaha, I guess in the eyes of some, I guess I am!!! The beverage package on one of my upcoming trips just went down to $42. That seems to be a good deal. I'm going to give it a try. My other sailings are still at $50. It’s definitely a different atmosphere to have it! We knew we’d be getting it for our upcoming Transatlantic, regardless of the cost. To some people, getting a beverage package for a 12 night cruise just wouldn’t make sense as they don’t drink much at all, and certainly not for an extended time! But to us, it’s part of the atmosphere of a cruise. My brother gets the opportunity to try drinks he wouldn’t otherwise, my mom can get a new drink next to the hot tubs after hers melts. I would easily get the value out of it regardless, but for me the biggest factor is being able to order nicer liquor in every drink and having it be included - I’m a bit of a snob about my gin! Basically, getting it one time might ruin you for future cruises, like some people say about staying in suites. Also, for what it’s worth, I certainly wouldn’t call four drinks on a sea day a big drinker. Like some have said, it’s easy to have a couple mimosas with breakfast, a Bloody Mary or an alcoholic specialty coffee to bring up to the pool deck, a beer or drink of the day with lunch, a couple frozen drinks over the course of the afternoon, a cocktail before dinner, a glass of wine or two with dinner, a cocktail at the shows, and drinks if you dance at night. That’s easily over 10 drinks on a sea day without ever even feeling tipsy! And not including specialty coffees, juices, smoothies, and getting a water botttle with each alcoholic drink. I’ll admit I’m a big drinker. But I don’t think you are. :p

ckelly14 Posted July 4, 2018 #50 Share Posted July 4, 2018 I purchased the deluxe beverage package but my parents, who are in another stateroom, did not. If I bought a bottle of wine for my parents, would I still get the wine bottle discount?
