Voucher from Casino for future cruise credit

Recommended Posts

Was on Adventure a couple weeks ago. About the 5th day, there was a voucher on our door for a $500 future cruise credit that needs to be booked within 30 days for a cruise within a year. I had heard that there were casino credits and even free cruises if you gamble enough in the casino. The interesting thing to me is that we received this voucher even though we never set foot in the casino. Is that common?

Anyway, I'm tempted to use the credit, but its difficult to predict our schedules for the next year. Can we book a cruise kind of as a placeholder, but change it to another (based on availability, of course) within the timeframe without losing the voucher credit, or would that credit be forfeited if making a switch?

Also, if using the Casino Royale credit, do the usual rules for refundable/non-refundable deposits apply or is full payment upfront required for using the voucher?

If the voucher is from the casino people, I would call them and ask the rules about switching cruises. I've seen situations where a credit is handled as a one time discount on a cruise and cannot be transferred. I've also seen the opposite, where a future cruise credit can be transferred.

Was your name on it? It seems like it was dropped at the wrong room. I doubt they would give you one without gambling. They have become stingy even with hard core gamblers. If you call in and it’s not assigned to you it won’t be honored.

That was my thought too, as I've heard you've had to do some serious gambling to get the vouchers. It definitely has my name on it and the room number was correct. As I said, prior to getting that voucher, I hadn't set foot in the casino except to walk thru on my previous 2 cruises (although I did use the $5 freebie after receiving the voucher)

We got 2 $100 cruise certificates when we sailed on the Anthem from the Casino and our names are on it. Is your name on the certs.

Your name needs to be on the certificate along with an offer code and certificate #. You need to rack up 2000 points on a slot or many, many hours at the tables to get a $500 certificate. Casino Royale when you call will have a record of the points and whose seapass card played to get those points. One time the host gave me the wrong certificate - one for a free balcony cabin, when I called the casino, they had the right number of points for the free inside cabin that I had actually earned.

No harm in trying to book something and see if they recognize the voucher #.

Also, if using the Casino Royale credit, do the usual rules for refundable/non-refundable deposits apply or is full payment upfront required for using the voucher? The wife got two 100.00 casino certs last winter and we successfully applied them to bookings that are not paid in full yet.

See above.:)

You're probably right and that makes sense...but, my name is definitely on the voucher, the correct stateroom number, offer code and certificate number. Maybe they'll realize their mistake when (if) I call to try to redeem it...

Did anyone else have access to your seapass card?

In regards to the terms. Most of these have to be booked within 30 days and sail within 12 months. I received one on my last cruise. I booked a cruise within the 30 days. I asked them about if after the 30 days I found a cruise I liked better, could I change. The answer was no. I could make changes, but it had to be done in the 30 day time period or the certificate would not apply.

  • 4 weeks later...

Sorry to disappoint all the naysayers but we have seen these offers multiple times. Seems to have no relation to casino play, just an offer to encourage you to book another cruise (and use the casino). Haven't been able to book one yet since we tend to have multiple cruises booked, but one of these days we will take it. Have seen the same thing on Princess, although there it tends to be for specific sailings of specific ships. One of those we already had booked.
