HAL loyalist - First Timer on MSC

I too am glad the mods moved this thread here as I would not have seen it otherwise. As another poster said, you can put a link to this thread on the HAL board and then HAL cruisers will be able to follow it.

To those wondering about sailing with friends in different categories, I would never do that. The point of sailing with friends is to spend time with them. You can't do that if you're in different areas of the ship. Yes, you could leave the Yacht Club, but why would you pay for that experience and then abandon it? So I highly recommend working that out ahead of time with your friends.

Very much looking forward to my first YC cruise next fall with 6 girlfriends. We're all in YC and all have our own YC suite.

Until the OP responds, here are some really nice pictures of the YC and all other areas of Seaside.

Thanks! These are great. I’m chomping at the bit to see more pictures of the common areas of the YC - hopefully someone will post more soon! [emoji4]

In case anyone is not aware of this, there are quite a few YouTube videos of the Seaside Yacht Club - some focus on the public areas, some YC cabin tours, some descriptions of the included perks, etc. I find YouTube an outstanding resource for previewing cruise ships. You have to sort through a lot of dreck and bad music because most people are just bad at making and editing videos, but there is also gold in them thar hills.

Yes there are! There's a cute couple that did tours of the entire ship, and they were staying in a YC interior.

Ok. Food

When oriented to the YC we were introduced to the Giuseppe, the restaurant manager/supervisor. We asked if we could have the same server each night. No problem. In fact it looks like most guests were giving the same courtesy. We are very happy with our server and table assignment.

So far we have eaten all meals either in the YC Restaurant or at the YC pool deck Bar and Grille. Breakfast in the restaurant is very similar to the Pinnacle Grill for Neptune Suite guests. A little less selection than HAL due to Italian vs Dutch ship. I feel the quality of the breakfasts is superior to Pinnacle Grill. The blueberry pancakes have been a excellent example of American diner buttermilk pancakes.

The pool bar and grille for lunch is outstanding. There is basically a full buffet plus grilled to order burgers etc. no pizza up there though. We do not miss that. Lunch menu in the restaurant varies daily in contrast to Pinnacle Grill.

Dinner next

Thanks for your great review!!!

I always shake my head in amazement at the numerous people I've met over the years who emphatically state: "Oh, no .... I would never cruise on anyone else. My favourite cruise line will always be (insert name here)" . When I ask who else they've cruised on, the answer frequently is "oh, no-one else, we've only cruised on (insert name here)"!!!

I really like and appreciate your attitude as well as Cruisergal1208's.

I completely enjoy and hold dear so many of my friend's and colleagues eye rolling at my Yacht Club raves. The more that the word gets out, the higher that the prices will go!

The bang-for-buck in the Yacht Club is unmatched in the cruise industry today.

Totally agree we cruise many lines, recently lots of rccl suites which are very nice there grand suites are almost 400 sq ft and we miss there entertainment and ice show, but no suite dedicated area there suite lounge has very limited hours and most ships have no dedicated restaurant , celebrity our last cruise has great suite restaurant and lounge but no dedicated pool area, Hal has great restaurant for breakfast but that’s about it. But you need to try new things , loyatlty programs are nice but should not tie you to any single line.

I would appreciate it if you would post pictures of your cabin.

loving your reports.

Will definitely do tomorrow. The photos I have seen online do not do the configuration justice. It is not as big as a signature suite, but it is easier to move around than narrow balcony cabins on other lines including HAL.

The bang-for-buck in YC is unbelievable. I cancelled a Thanksgiving cruise in a sky suite on Celebrity which would have cost me over $8,000 with the single supplement. The YC suite I have booked (along with 6 other women friends, each of whom has her own YC suite) is less than $2,000 and does not have a single supplement. Granted, I haven't seen that offer repeated, but it is an absolute steal. Oh, and with MSC's status match, I will have Black status on my first cruise with MSC.

We are thinking of exactly the same MSC YC out of Miami, so please provide as many details as you can on the experience.

I am also interested in how a "normal" MSC experience would be instead of the YC (some in our group just want to do the "normal" section.

We will never travel Mac again, the buffet was better than the dining room, service was terrible, good luck getting a drink. I was status matched to black , their highest level , didn't make a difference. Good luck

While we are not doing any excursions this cruise it is nice how MSC handles YC guests going on them. You wait in the Topsail YC lounge and are then are escorted down to the line by a Butler.

YC drinks do not include many top shelf drinks which is included in Celebrity suite lounge , I know Hal Neptune has no bar. Even some middle of the road wines are a up charge . still most likely will book it , just got my matching black card which gives me a 5 percent discount

After saying a not-so-fond farewell to Celebrity five years ago after 250 nights onboard, I really don't think you can compare what is offered in Michael's Club to what is in the Yacht Club - the YC leaves Celebrity in the dust!

The Champagne offered in the YC is, well, Champagne! It was embarrassing how many (we'll say glasses but it really approached gallons...) of Nicholas Feuillatte that I had.

While Celebrity may have individual selections that exceed the YC, it in no way, shape or form approaches the overall drink list in the YC.
