Dede F Posted July 24, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 24, 2018 Can anyone tell me if this ship has formal nights on its Cuba sailings? I read on Royal's website that it does not, however, when I called Royal, they told me the Cuba sailings have two. Anyone that can provide correct information, would be appreciated. danv3 Posted July 24, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 24, 2018 Cuba sailings on Majesty do have formal nights, so that might be where some of the confusion comes from.
Ourusualbeach Posted July 24, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 24, 2018 Royal’s CSR’s should be required to spend 15 minutes a day as part of the training reading Bob’s posts.
Clarea Posted July 24, 2018 #5 Share Posted July 24, 2018 Royal’s CSR’s should be required to spend 15 minutes a day as part of the training reading Bob’s posts. I'd say that you, Ellen, and Carol should be above me on that list.:) I'm still in cruise mode, making too many mistakes.

YlangYlangF9PB3E Posted September 3, 2018 #7 Share Posted September 3, 2018 Just off Empress. No formal nights, but a “Dress to Impress” night, the same night lobster was served in MDR.

sjb317 Posted November 4, 2018 #10 Share Posted November 4, 2018 We sailed on Empress October 11th. Based on what I had read on CC, I told my husband we would not have any formal nights but to my surprise, we did! 😳. This was a 7 night cruise and we had one formal night and one “ dress to impress” night ( whatever that is!) 😂. The rest were all casual. Neither one one of us took any formal clothes. sjb317 Posted November 5, 2018 #12 Share Posted November 5, 2018 I wondered if it was new since Empress had been doing 5 night cruises and this was a seven night or did someone make a mistake in the Compass? We we did see a few men dressed in tuxes. My husband wore dark jeans with a button down shirt. 😂 Sherri🙂

I'm sure he fit in fine 😁
island girl 99 Posted November 17, 2018 #14 Share Posted November 17, 2018 Yes there are 2 formal nights on Empress We just came off the 8 night Nov 4-12 2018 CUBA cruise I read on cc that there were no formal nights so we did not bring formal wear. We were misinformed One night going and one night going home.
tweetylori Posted November 17, 2018 #15 Share Posted November 17, 2018 Yes, believe it, I was also on the Oct. 11 sailing. We weren't prepared for it either. The good news is, no one seemed to care.
llanning Posted November 21, 2018 #16 Share Posted November 21, 2018 We just got off the Empress. An email from RC said there was no formal night. However, the Compass had a formal night. When we told our waiter we would not be at dinner due to lack of formal wear, he assured us that there was no formal night. We showed up. The other two couples at our table were in formal wear as were others in the dining room. It was ok though, there were some in the dining room in shorts (in defiance of the posted dress code for the mdr at night). Apparently, do what you want. Biker19 Posted November 21, 2018 #17 Share Posted November 21, 2018 Well, this will get even more confusing as I assume on the shorter runs they will keep to the no formal nights policy.
