We should show the new PM the big merino, apparently he doesn't know one end of a sheep from the other.:p
SM is a Sydney boy, the only lamb is roast lamb, or perhaps a lamb pie with no knife and fork for that fella.:*

A set of locks down the clyde all the way to Batemans Bay would be good as well.
Indeed, bigger than ye olde Panama Canal even. Photo stop opportunity @ 'Poo Bear Corner.' Mic would know that.

Fancy being a foreign tourist coming to Sydney to do a cruise and not getting to sail in and out of the Harbour. You’d feel robbed.

Botany Bay is a poor substitute. That’s why the First Fleet decided it wasn’t the place for the colony back in 1788.

Guess there must be a lot of robbery in international capitals around the world: Rome, Berlin, London..

Odd, cruise tourism to those ports continues to grow in spite of that "robbery". Who knew?!

I suppose apart from tilbury on a small ship, cruise ships have never been able to get close to those cities where as people have and still can get into Sydney harbour. Given the choice of the OPT and white bay we choose the OPT and it is not just the convenience to public transport for that choice. If Botnay bay was put in the mix, I dare say the OPT would still rate as first choice.

I don't think the spectacular sights of Sydney Harbour was the reason Phillip decided to leave & set up camp in Port Jackson - more to do with the shallowness and lack of fresh water, but I take you point - Botany Bay is a poor choice as a destination highlight than our harbour.

The local member for the Eastern suburbs is gone - maybe a chance for a fresh look again at GI?? Maybe CC should stand a candidate for the by-election :-)

While it may be preferable for some, that's a far cry from saying that it's being robbed if you don't have it. It's a short transit to reach the city... just as the many more international travellers who come by plane to visit each year do.

If only the connections in some of those other cities were as short and quick.

Agreed, that in Sydney, we have one of the best cruise destination that finish right in the heart of a city.

Not sure I would fit in there, especially following the wake of the chardonnay socialist :) You must have some good connections in Canberra that could assist in getting someone elected that would push the cruisers agenda! ;)

Or maybe Mr Gut or Uncle Les can assist. The Big M appears to have a leaning towards the likely next government that may assist.

Maybe some of our Kiwi posters can have a word to Jacinta?

I'll spring for the first banner - Navy Out. Cruisers In.

I think Mr rabbit's sister is running for the spot, perhaps we should lobby her.

Big double page article in the SMH today about the objection by the airport to use Hayes dock due to the height restrictions that are in place (45 metres, the Ovation of the seas is 50 metres high).

Yes, though the Hayes dock is only a possible interim option while a long term solution is built. So even if that was off the table it doesn't impact the long term recommendation.

There were no objections from the airport to the actual recommended locations from the study.

True but the council are objecting to that plan. Cannot see anything happening anytime soon.:(
