jjlen11 Posted November 9, 2018 #26 Share Posted November 9, 2018 The irish pub on the Bliss-----no butter or jelly for the toast............dry toast.....wanted to dunk it in the half and half. LD Silver Posted November 9, 2018 #30 Share Posted November 9, 2018 (edited) One of my favorite tips to give folks cruising on NCL is breakfast at O'Sheehan's. I've never waited for a table and it is so nice to have table service and not have to wander around looking for a table while holding a plate of food. It is a reduced menu but only the pickiest eaters would have a hard time finding something they like. Rare smillerholmes Posted November 9, 2018 #31 Share Posted November 9, 2018 We love the Window Channel Network - so relaxing. We love it so much we bought a subscription. I guess a close second would be checking in that first day and exploring the ship. Good thread.
kayjay76 Posted November 9, 2018 #32 Share Posted November 9, 2018 I think for me my weirdest love is being in the casino at 2am when it's quiet, hubby up in bed for hours... then sneaking up to my room, opening door as quietly as possible and grabbing more fun $$ to play til 4am! all without waking the beast! lol * My favvvvvv is having coffee and Danish delivered each morning to wake me up. I'm soooooo not a morning person but on vacation I will not sleep it away (ok... as long as I get a nap in later:). * 80's party by far best night of every cruise. Then waking the next day to remember with an aching knee that I'm not 20 anymore. * room steward!!!!! no one picks up after me. ever. I'm always the one doing it and its nice to have someone vacuum for me for once * going on my balcony looking left and right and seeing my family and friends there yelling to each other. * that shower after you come back from a beach day!!! love being clean and moisturized and passing out for a quick nap * surviving on 3 hours a sleep a night! love vacation
Coastalbreezes Posted November 9, 2018 #33 Share Posted November 9, 2018 In port, I love returning to the ship and seeing all the crew (and often many officers) lined up and dancing along the red carpet to welcome us back. It's so much fun and unique to NCL. Tracy

cdnsteelman Posted November 9, 2018 #35 Share Posted November 9, 2018 My list of odd (let's go with quirky) things: 1) taking pictures of my toes sticking out from under the balcony glass with the ocean way below 2) wandering the ship when most everyone else is asleep... there's usually a window between the time the late-to-crash vacate and the early to arise emerge (its a habit I got in to when we cruised with infants - I'd take a fussing baby out in a stroller to give mommy some extra sleep and we'd explore the ship) 3) making friends with someone senior in the buffet and begging them to have chocolate chip bread pudding EVERY day (lots of success making friends, zero success with conjuring omnipresent chocolate chip bread pudding) 4) "collecting" as many staff nationalities as I can and trying to learn a word or two in their native languages (and then butchering those words with other staff from the same countries) and trying to learn an interesting thing or two about their home countries 5) staying abroad in oft-repeated ports to feel like I have the ship to myself 6) asking the staff in Teppanyaki to sauté me a side order of shiitake mushrooms 7) making my kids' favourite lunch desert concoction... multiple colours of jello mashed into smaller pieces and stirred in to a water glass full of soft serve to the point were it's fluid enough that they can drink it through straws

OBSESSIVEWORLDTRAVELER Posted November 10, 2018 #40 Share Posted November 10, 2018 I love.... -a fitness center so close to my room -so many food options without a bill -prepaying gratuities -seeing and interacting with so many people from around the world -my bathroom in my room -traveling solo -people watching (not judging) -waking up some place different everyday -the feeling when I am at the embarkation pier -walking the casino at anytime taking pictures —“running the ship” which means boarding the ship at embarkation early to take pictures without a bunch of people being in your way -visiting places all over the world -doing puzzle books on the promenade deck -“SUNSETS”
MBMGWM Posted November 10, 2018 #41 Share Posted November 10, 2018 I too have to have my "cruise" breakfast. Every single day, I have a croissant with orange marmalade and then enjoy eggs benedict. I'm counting down the days to our cruise on the Epic to indulge again! DH used to enjoy the kippers and onions, but they haven't had them on the menu for a little while. jjlen11 Posted November 10, 2018 #43 Share Posted November 10, 2018 I want to add meeting people from all over! We met a "crew" on the Bliss and many things we planned went out the door because we enjoyed hanging with each other--our nickname was "The Cool Kids Club". The ultimate beverage package was awesome!! Late night casino time-----I had a blast. Racing on the Bliss...…...that was a rush! Hearing my name called as the consolation prize lotto winner---I whined when I got wine!!! Making up daily activities-classic! People actually asked me where these things were! fmrlkr Posted November 10, 2018 #44 Share Posted November 10, 2018 DH loves to board as early as possible, eat lunch, then get to our cabin and spend the afternoon on the balcony watching the loading of the ship. He calls it "the forklift ballet". Then again at the end. First off the ship those in handcuffs, if applicable. We have seen some crazy stuff. He asks me to book our cabin with this in mind. Gimmiethebeach Posted November 11, 2018 #48 Share Posted November 11, 2018 Great thread! Not sure how odd these are, but they are definitely different than a regular land vacation for us... *Silly games with the family, whether it’s bowling, arcade games, ping pong or putt-putt *The UPB which lets me try drinks that sound good, and ordering something else if I don’t like them *BINGO! Yes it’s a rip-off but it’s one of our must-do’s on a cruise! 😊
