Philomath Posted November 29, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2018 Hi everyone - we’re just setting out on a 4 night on Infinity and I know there have been a lot of questions on the board about them. Feel free to ask me anything and I’ll try to find out! This is our first time in a Sky suite so happy to answer anything re: suit level that I’m able to as well. We had a traffic free drive down from Orlando while listening to an audiobook and parked easily in the midport garage. Embarkation was a breeze with almost no lines in any section at 11:30. We boarded right away and got to visit Michael’s Club for the first time with just lovely staff. After a drink, we left our bags there and had a wonderful embarkation lunch at Luminae with a butternut squash risotto starter and lamb chop entree. We were escorted from Michaels to our room well before the general announcement by a very sweet woman who is about a foot shorter and older than either of us so we felt a bit awkward with her pulling our rolling suitcase, but I guess that’s how the suite life goes! DH went directly to take a pre muster nap while I explored the ship and picked up cheese, olives, and breadsticks from the buffet. A few initial thoughts: the reports of the M class demise are greatly exaggerated. We find the ship to be lovingly and very well maintained. Certain aspects of the decor/design are outdated as an older ship, but our first impression is that she is in great shape and quite beautiful overall. Public spaces are ample and even the buffet had plenty of seating. The library is nonexistent so do bring your own books! As a bonus, here is a view of our neighbor the Edge! Philomath Posted November 29, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted November 29, 2018 Thank you @Phxazzcruisers! Before I forget, another couple of points about concerns I had seen on the boards! - we’ve been served exactly the wines we asked for by the glass so far with bottle and label clearly visible - welcome bottle of sparkling wine was on ice in our room when we arrived - WiFi speed decent from balcony, good in room - ambient and DJ music so far better than what we’ve seen in the past making for a festive embarkation atmosphere! - no sewer odor whatsoever in room
TeaBag Posted November 29, 2018 #4 Share Posted November 29, 2018 Looking forward to your review. We have not been on Infinity even though she sailed out of Vancouver for years. Nice shot of the Edge.
sdnich Posted November 29, 2018 #5 Share Posted November 29, 2018 I hope you have a great cruise where does a four day cruise go to ?? We were lucky enough to spend 15 days on the infinity in April going through the Panama Canal in a suite !it was absolutely amazing! . Our waiter in Luminae almost every night was Lazaro who was amazing & funny and a joy to spend our evening dinners with !And Luis the bread guy if he is still there when he would walk up he would always had this tine when he was say hello that I can still hear ! delightful ! I don’t eat a lot of bread but I did eat a lot on the trip because he was so persuasive LOL ! Lazaro probably wouldn’t remember us but if you do get him please tell him David & Stefanie from San Diego said a big hello !

kris816 Posted November 30, 2018 #7 Share Posted November 30, 2018 We are very interested in the Luminae and Main Dining Room dinner menus, in order of day. We are trying to figure out what nights to do Sushi and Tuscan; so, if it is not too much trouble, can you please post pics of the daily menus? TIA
Philomath Posted November 30, 2018 Author #8 Share Posted November 30, 2018 AMA comes from Reddit and is a live thread meaning “Ask Me Anything”! Very popular way for celebrities or politicians (not that I am either) to interact with people, especially millennials (which I just barely am but on the oldest end). The 4 night goes to Key West and Nassau with one sea day in the middle. I managed to lose my phone on the flight down to Florida so don’t have a way to easily photograph menus during dinner, but I’ll try to get them with my iPad during the day. While you're doing that, if it's not too much trouble can you find a current wine list and tell me how much a glass of NZ Sauvignon Blanc goes for? Trying to decide whether to upgrade my package or not and would like to know how much the upcharge would be for each glass. Thanks so much and enjoy your cruise! back-at-it Posted November 30, 2018 #10 Share Posted November 30, 2018 We are on this cruise on 12/13. Our first time Celebrity and also in a SKY Suite. Looks like you are on Deck 6? Was there a special Tent or line for the Suite check in at the Port? Waiting for more info, keep it coming.

We are indeed in one of the bump out S1s on deck 6 and the room is fabulous. Would book again in a heartbeat if the deal was right! There was a priority security line and then a suite check in line at Port Everglades with no wait, but wait for all classes was minimal at the time we arrived. There was no separate suite line for rejoining the ship today in Key West but it was a nonissue as everyone just walked on. I get the feeling the ship is not full as I’ve yet to see lines anywhere for anything other than the occasional elevator (week after thanksgiving is a great time to travel!) We did a kayak nature tour shore excursion today which I highly recommend! Wish I’d booked in advance though as the price did go up. Was all arranged by the MC concierge Alexandra who is excellent. MC has been totally vacant most of the cruise, at least when I’ve gone. Solo guitarist and string duo are great and I’ve been following them around the ship. First night comedian was fine but not amazing. Looking forward to tonight’s production show! Luminae continues to be excellent and we have seamlessly ordered MDR items as well. It can be confusing here on Cruise Critic because AMA is shorthand for AmaWaterways river cruise line.
filamino Posted November 30, 2018 #14 Share Posted November 30, 2018 Thank for offering and providing the updates so far. We’ll be in our first sky suite on her soon and I’m curious about the Butler situation. Was it the person who escorted you to your suite? If not, did someone stop by, offer to help with anything or have you asked for anything of them? Do you expect to see them occasionally or expect you’ll need them for anything? Thanks so much! phoenix_dream Posted November 30, 2018 #15 Share Posted November 30, 2018 Curious who the bartenders are at the Martini Bar? We're boarding next week - can't wait!
floridaag Posted December 3, 2018 #16 Share Posted December 3, 2018 Was also on this trip and I agree with the comments. Yes the ship is showing its age, yes the carpeting is dated and the ceilings low but we had a great time, even though the trip was short it felt like a real cruise and the crew was excellent for the most part. Haven't been on an M class ship for many years but we had a great time

floridaag Posted December 3, 2018 #18 Share Posted December 3, 2018 Will let Philomath confirm but I believe the answer is no - although there is immediate access to the deck through a door right next to the bar (which may lock and prevent re-entry - at least that happened when we were there on the first day)

floridaag Posted December 3, 2018 #20 Share Posted December 3, 2018 Not trying to steal thread but another comment I had is that another thing I was surprised about was the amount of live music - we had bemoaned what seemed to be the cut back amount of live music on the S class ships and the increasing reliance on DJs- we were very pleased at the amount of musical acts and their performing frequency. I recall the solo guitarist -who was very talented; the singer/guitarist duet, string duet, piano player/singer, the full 5 or 6 piece band and the 3-4 person band. Simultaneous acts playing in - Bacio, Cellar Masters, Ocean View/Sunset (not sure of its name) Bar, Rendez-Vous and Constellation or pool deck - was very surprising and they generally did a good job.
floridaag Posted December 4, 2018 #21 Share Posted December 4, 2018 I was also happy to see they had a Global Entry line at Terminal 19 at Port Everglades

muffydawg Posted December 5, 2018 #23 Share Posted December 5, 2018 We board Infinity on December 14th and this is our first Celebrity voyage ever. What time can we expect our suite to be ready (for dropping off roll aboard luggage) and what dining venues are open for lunch on embarkation day? Many thanks ! floridaag Posted December 5, 2018 #24 Share Posted December 5, 2018 On our cruise, I believe the rooms were available slightly after 1 (announcement made while we were having lunch) - available options depend on your cabin type. Concierge - lunch in main dining room Suites - Luminae Others - Buffet - there was ample seating available) or Sushi on 5 (cost) Apparently, Zenith members (need many many sailing days to achieve) - can also go to the Concierge lunch

It looked like maybe the computer went down in that line.
