Changing travel agent

Recommended Posts

I have a cruise booked next month using a TA for the Adventure of the Seas.  We are in a GS and have $750 OBC for a $6000 Grand Suite.  Not bad if  I must say so.

Dear Babe,  Is The $750 OBC from your TA or a combo from TA and cruise line?

We are aware that we need to make sure if we don't want our current 'listed' TA to be getting our new bookings when we book onboard.  I was NOT aware that they actually reach out to the TA that you are NOT requesting to be placed on the booking.   It doesn't matter to me.  By the time I have made that decision to change TA's, it doesn't matter if they find out.

I just filled out a form to release the booking agent of my current cruise (Casino Royale), this allowed me to give it to my regular TA.

So I've been trying a few different online TAs.  I'm wanting to change from this new one that has great reviews.  So when I tried to book with a quote that he sent, he said the price went up … note he was not the lowest quote but still a very good quote with good reviews.  I told him my best offer and he matched the price and almost matched the OBC so I booked with him.  Paid $500 deposit for each of (3) cabins per the receipt that he sent.  Check my credit card and I have (3) pending $900 RCCL charges.  I'm waiting for the charges to finalize and then get with RCCL for complaint … will I be able to keep my booking and change TAs?

Did you pay $1500 to the TA and also a suspected $2700 to Royal?

Or are you saying that it was supposed to be a $1500 deposit but it's being charged as $2700?

And what category of room did you book, for how many people?

So I need to get away fro Amex. When I book on board next week, can I specify I want it with Royal? and then switch to a .com if I find a deal?

Yes, and be sure to tell them up front that you do not want to use a travel agent, because they will automatically book the cruise with whoever you booked with for the current cruise.

Yes Thank you. That I know bc I booked freedom last year with points on Amex and forgot when I booked for the Presidents Cruise. Amex has been horrible for price drops , return calls , obc. I definitely do not want them again .

First step, contact the TA and ask *****??

So my fear is the possibility that the TA does this on purpose sometimes to charge extra and when people ask, it's just a mistake and corrects the final amount owed.  If RCCL hears about it, he probably wouldn't do it again.

I'm guessing this is for a longer cruise, then?  Sounds like your TA wasn't aware that there's a higher deposit amount for longer cruises.

yes it's $900 per cabin.  My TA responded with his bad and he would correct invoices.  In the middle of the night, I received (3) corrected invoices.  Then an hour ago, I receive (1) more updated invoice showing only $500 deposit on the one cabin.  Then right after, an email from the TA saying all done.  Really ???

I don't bother with invoices from the TA -- I just have the TA forward me the Booking Confirmation that comes directly from Royal.

By having the Royal version of the invoice, you can confirm your room number / category, dining preference, C&A discount, etc.  The invoice from the TA guarantees NOTHING with Royal... what's the point?
