CruiserBruce Posted February 12, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2019 Florence and area could easily be a couple of days.
cruisinsc1 Posted February 12, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 12, 2019 Why are you spending so much time in Pisa? I would tour in Pisa for only half a day and spend more time in Florence.
Langoustine Posted February 12, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 12, 2019 Pisa is not that interesting; nor is Genoa; Florence is.
wheezedr Posted February 12, 2019 #5 Share Posted February 12, 2019 Go to Florence on Wed after the cruise. Spend 2 nights there. Because of early flight take afternoon train to Pisa and spend rest of evening there , then fly out in AM. The gem of these cities is Florence. Rare VMax1700 Posted February 12, 2019 #6 Share Posted February 12, 2019 Pisa is only a half day visit. You should spend at least 2 days in Florence. Does you flight go from Pisa? Not many flights from there. You could take the train to Milan for an overnight and flights.
mapleleaves Posted February 12, 2019 #7 Share Posted February 12, 2019 flying home to where ? We took the train to Milan as we found more flights there. But if you MUST fly from Pisa, I'd flip your itinerary so that you end up there instead of backtracking. And unless you have specific plans in Genoa i'd skip it. WED Disembark. Train to Florence THU Florence FRI sighteeing in the morning, noon-ish train to Pisa (1 to 2 hrs). Check into hotel then sightsee for a couple of hrs around Pisa. SAT 10am flight
Rare Hlitner Posted February 12, 2019 #8 Share Posted February 12, 2019 Would certainly agree with the other comments that Pisa is hardly worthy of a full day or even a single night. When we are spending land time in the region we see Pisa as a city to avoid. The only time we stop in Pisa is if we have others who want to see the Tower...and then we try to make it a very short (less then an hour) stop. If your cruise ends in Genoa, it makes more sense to visit Pisa afterwards for a night before heading to Florence for the remainder of your trip. There will be many more flight options from Florence than Pisa. If you fly out of Milan, you will be backtracking and wasting time. If you want to fly out of Milan, do it after visiting Florence and not Pisa. l would do: wed Pisa (maybe just see the tower & catch a late train to Florence) thu Florence fri Florence sat fly out of Florence Edited February 13, 2019 by lamchops
Langoustine Posted February 13, 2019 #11 Share Posted February 13, 2019 (edited) Flights to/from Milan tend to be cheaper. I also recommend the Hotel Villa Malpensa for the night before; it's near the airport, and they have a shuttle that will pick you up (even if you arrive by train) and deliver you back for your flight the next day. It's an old villa (much renovated, with a wonderful restaurant) with a largely-abandoned village nearby; there are also several new hotels right at the airport.
