ditto what two wheels said.

as a haven guest, ive also reported people who i know are not haven guests. they are subsequently bounced out.

people pay a premium for the exclusivity  and to avoid crowds.  its grossly unfair for people to try to use benefits they did not pay for and take up loungers, pool space, hot tub space, etc. from paying haven guests.

totally agree!  I pay a premium for the Haven.  Would you like to pay for something and find out people did not pay but used the facilities?  Cheating is cheating.

You have to use a key-card to enter and the name/photo of the person swiping their card is shown on the concierge's desk.

The staff quickly knows who is a Haven guest and who is not. That's one of the reasons for the "briefing" in the Haven lounge on embarkation day.

If someone looks "unfamiliar", they will be asked to show their key-card. If the key-card isn't Haven, the person will be asked to leave/escorted out of the Haven. If trying to use someone else's key-card, the photo on the computer screen won't match the face.

Just got off the Jade in the DOS in Haven. Outside of needing to use my card to get onto the 14th deck of the ship (which anyone could potentially get access to if they stowed away and rode the elevator up with us), I did not need my card to access the sundeck or pool area. No one checked my card ever when I was in those areas. Although another guest was treated horribly when paying for a drink and her card didn't say Haven - she was given the wrong card on embarking and truly was a Haven guest. So NCL's error, not hers.

We also never had a briefing in the Haven lounge (don't think there even is one on Jade, if there is I didn't see it).

During our short trip we brought new friends up to see our room and the Haven pool area on different occasions. Never had any issue. We never invited them to use the pool, just take a quick peek at the area to justify why it's a nice perk to have, then spent time in our cabin.

I believe sid has also had drinks at the bar! The horror!

Just to clarify, when invited by Jovo to dine in the Haven restaurant on the Bliss, I was suffering from the cruise crud. I actually felt like I was failing my readers by not stopping by the Haven bar after dinner. I did order a couple of glasses of wine, which I couldn't even taste at the time...

Now, regarding my visit to the Haven bar on the Breakaway... I asked the assistant HD about a possible tour, just to take some photos for the review. (Which, at the time, he himself was actually aware of, and following) During the tour, I inquired with Florence about possibly ordering a drink, and she said no problem... The entire bar and courtyard area were completely empty at the time, so that may have been a factor... I guess my point is, that barring actually winning the lottery, I will never be able to afford to sail in the Haven. I'm extremely thankful for the brief visits that I have had the opportunity to enjoy......

They don't do a Haven briefing on Jewel Class.

Yes, NCL's error, but not the Bartender who did exactly what he should be doing.  If someone isn't in the Haven or has been invited as a guest, he should chastize anyone who doesn't have Haven on their card.

I disagree, especially with your choice of the word 'chastise'. When you scan a room key, does it not show which room number it is linked to? At least on the Jade, at a minimum, you would know that anyone in room 14000+ is in Haven regardless of which color card you were incorrectly given on embarking.

"Excuse me ma'am, but I see you were not given the correct Haven card when you boarded the ship. Do you know the name of your butler so I can have them take care of this for you right away?" - as opposed to publicly embarrassing and chastising a true Haven guest over NCL's error.

Totally agree with you! Should not have embarrassed the woman! Very unprofessional.

Hi Kyle

I got chastised when I went to the Haven one time when I went to the Haven and took an access key to my cabin instead of my cabin key by mistake. I asked him call to verify that I was allowed in there and did get an apology and an explanation why they did not allow non Haven passengers into the Haven, I did let them know that they required additional training on how to confront people as they did lack the tack of resolving that issue respectfully.

I hope it helps passengers in the future with this issue.

I wouldn't bother me. I don't think it's done very often. What's 2 more people having dinner in the restaurant one night? It's not ever full, from all reports. It's not like they are taking up lounge chairs or space in the pool. I think it's a nice thing to do for a special customer once in awhile.

That is TWO people that did NOT pay to be there -period! I just got off the ship today staying in the Haven .. and it was more full than I am use to.. I can't imagine more people in there.. and so what if it is not full.. that is the POINT of paying for this area! This ship is like a jungle in other areas.. sorry.. just is!

If the Haven restaurant was packed, guests would not be invited to have a dinner there. I don't understand this attitude. It happens rarely.

We've sailed NCL suites for years.  One thing I can say with some certainty is even with a suite marked card, staff puts very little connection between room number or type and level of service provided.  On Jade it would be easier but the staff rotates across the fleet.  On the mega ships you have Haven all over.

Not making excuses, just telling it based  on experience.
