Things are comped all the time for all kinds of reasons in all kinds of businesses.  For example I am member of a car club.  The local dealership is offering buy three tires get one free.  It doesn't matter if you are driving the cheapest model or the top of the line model.  You get a free tire.  However if you are not a member of the club if you are driving a top of line model you will be charged for all four tires.

Your analogy basically supports the premise that if you pay for haven club you get haven club if you dont pay for haven club you dont get haven club.  NCL is deciding to give a perk  that haven passengers pay for to non haven passengers.  We are all different I would not like it after I spent thousands more for haven, but that is just me. opinions vary that is just me i would not like it.   Many people in the usa these days believe they are entitled to everything, because it is their right.  I am not one of them, I had to steal everything I got and if i would have gotten caught i would have had to pay the price.  "Dont do the crime if you cant do the time"

Like i said, i was very polite, did have top pay extra ($35 Confirmed)which was fine.  I remember the concierge saying that they try to limit how many times this happens per cabin which is fine.  He approved it for me but honestly if he said no that would have been fine.  When we were there not even 1/2 of the Haven Rest was used this was on Bliss.

He recognized me from past sailings, as well as hosting the CC M&G's on the Escape four different times. I didn't ask to be invited, and this was completely initiated by him...

Totally agree Greenpea, NCL isn't stupid; they recognize how many pax appreciate the great reviews Sid and some others do too. 

 

I guess some have never experienced anything like this so have no idea how often it actually happens.  Maybe some day they will...

I'm pretty sure that Jovo has never read one of my reviews, nor did I even mention this to him... I do, however, go out of my way to try and get to know some of the officers at the CC M&G's, not to try and "get something" but, if I do end up with special treatment, then it's "win win"...

I wasn’t complaining if it came across like that. I didn’t realize they did stuff like that, and I think it’s neat that they do. Now I just need to figure out how to get the invite!

I know on some of the smaller ships, without a Haven restaurant, folks that have put together the meet and greet are invited to have breakfast and lunch in the designated suite restaurant.  Possibly those that put together the meet and greet are invited for a dinner in the Haven restaurant on the larger ships.

Never done a solo. I have read that ncl has been known also to go out of there way a little more to there solo guest. Also a helpful factor for sid

Yes I have seen it on the breakaway as well. Our person who ran the Meet and greet was able to use the Haven restaurant daily.

And Good for you!!! On the golf course, we like to say that “good things happen to good people”!  My family has been fortunate enough to stay in the Haven twice and are going to again in a couple of weeks.  I absolutely have no problem with someone outside of the Haven  using the Haven Restaurant if invited.  Usually there are only a couple other “families, couples, groups” in the restaurant at any given time.  One of the perks that we have received on the last 2 cruises is a 3 night dining plan, so there are 3 nights our family will never use the restaurant.  The folks running the Haven know this because we make our reservations before boarding, some others do as well so this helps them plan better for one off’s like Sid.  Obviously, if people were able to use all the other amenities it might bother me but in cases like this have at it. Enjoy it like my family is able to do.

The staff quickly knows who is a Haven guest and who is not. That's one of the reasons for the "briefing" in the Haven lounge on embarkation day.

 

We will be staying in the Haven for the first time a week from tomorrow.  Haven't heard about this "briefing."  What does it entail?

During embarkation, the escort will bring Haven guests to the Haven lounge and the concierge or assistant will give a brief blah blah blah about the Haven, the facilities, etc. Depending on the ship, different info/benefits will be explained. Nothing mandatory, though.
