We always book with the cruise line..esp in remote areas...just in case the bus breaks down...and if the tour is  not up to expectations you have recourse with X..

Have had many great tours with X....may cost more but worth it,,

For us it’s not about the cost we’ve just had a couple of not so great tours when booked direct in the early days, not necessarily the tour it’s self but the logistics of it,

but i guess it’s all a matter of preference and it has to be right for ourselves 👍🏼

Happy to report we had a really nice meal tonight inn the main dining room, it had a couple of my favourite items on the menu so that was great 👍🏼

the seevice was also very good and although it was actually our first time eating there this cruise (night 7) our waiter made a real effort to make sure we had a great dining experience 😊

In other news... after the slight issues we’ve had over the first half of the cruise we had 3 nice surprises tonight...

1 - We have been given a free meal at Murano’s

2 - when we got back to the cabin we had a message from the Casino manager saying they’ve given us some free credit to use at any point until the end of the cruise... (I’m sure it’s not a huge amount but anything is better than nothing)

3 - Again on returning to our cabin we were welcomed with a tray with a nice platter of fruit & a bottle of celebrity bubbles 🥂👍🏼

I know now these items (2 & 3) don’t add up to much but it’s the thought that counts and it’s a very nice gesture from celebrity, and one I wasn’t expecting 😊

Day 8 - Sea Day on-route to Costa Maya

glad to report (quietly) that the rain from yesterday looks like it didn’t follow us 👍🏼 8.15am ship time and I can confirm it’s sunny & hot 😎

We were expecting tonight would be formal (chic) night but apparently it’s not,  I think it’s going to be the Cozumel day... not sure if this is normal for this itinerary but just assumed it would be on a sea day,

Tonight we are heading back to Tuscan Grill for dinner, I’m sure take 2 will be better than the first 👍🏼 bring on the steak 😋

chat later

So sorry to hear that your Sloth Lovers tour was not as billed. Julie must have been very disappointed. It sounds like the tour company was not very trustworthy as they lied about their ability to meet you inside the port in addition to switching you to a different tour. Would you mind sharing the name of the tour company so I can be sure to avoid them when I make my pilgrimage to sloth country?

It’s a difficult one as from what I read before hand they have a good reputation with great reviews, I guess we just had bad luck for our day,

the company was greenway tours, but as I said in the review had we booked the tour we had we would have been happy with it, the guide was good & gave lots of good info and the bus was as comfortable as can be expected it was just for us we didn’t get what we booked,

ill have to to read the reviews a little further back to see if this has ever happened before,

we did spot a sloth sanctuary on our way back yesterday so if we are ever this way again we might give that a try 👍🏼

Good news on the free casino money... only $10 but walked out having turned it into $70 in real money 👍🏼

Its made the losses look not so bad... 😱😂 still there’s another 4 nights to recoup some more 😜

T, you're making me thirsty!   ha  I'm  enjoying your posts, hope you two are having a great time.

Hi M, didn’t recognise the name at first but was sure I recognised the cutie in the picture 😘, FYI I’m not talking about Bill 😜

we are having a great time thanks, another small win in the casino tonight so we are itching closer to breaking even 😂 👍🏼

Tuscan Grill Dinner - 6.45pm

So tonight was a better night in Tuscan Grill vs the first time earlier in the cruise, not the best of table locations but the food & service was good 👍🏼

Again in it wasn’t very busy, busier vs last time but I’d say it was around half full while we were there tonight,

On another note I saw a waiter in the buffet at lunchtime offering 50% off Lawn Club Grill, I believe they had the same offer last night also!

Silent Disco - 10pm Deck 3

This is the second time they’ve done this activity so far and both times it seemed to have been a big hit, seems like it’s very popular on board celebrity these days,

Firstly I should say I’m not a dancer of any note, don’t like it and have no desire to get involved at all, Julie however loves this activity, I think it’s been her favourite thing on the cruise... So I find a chair while she hits the dance floor shaking her ass, for me the funny thing is watching all the bad dancers & listening to the even worse singers... 😂

Tuesday 19th March 2019 - Costa Maya Arriving at 11am

So after a good nights sleep we planned on getting to the pool around 8am or so as we just thought as we will be arriving into Costa Maya around 11am it should still be quiet, and it is which is great 😎

I’ve mentioned before that we enjoy a ship day in port as it’s so quiet in all areas, more Importantly around the pool 👍🏼😎

The plan at the moment is to have a quiet lunch onboard then get off for a stroll around the port area, Julie likes to get something from each port for our travel ornament Christmas tree so fingers crossed we find something 👍🏼

Tonight we we plan on eating in the dining room which if we make it will be only our 2nd & final visit on this cruise which is the least we’ve every done in the MDR! I guess sometimes it just works out that way, but also another factor is we’ve been so lucky the last few years we are a bit over the current menus and are hoping they all get changed at some point soon,

More to follow 😊

Hi,

We got down to the pool around 8.30am and couldn’t believe it was completely covered in thick cloud, I can’t lie I was a little gutted as as the cruise comes closer to the end and we have to travel back to the cold we like to get the sun when possible, however, by 9am the clouds started to disperse and now at 9.30 it’s cleared completely and blue skies are all around us 😎

So we are now in position until lunchtime which the plan is to give the burgers at Mast Grill a try... we’ve had them before (not on this cruise!) and enjoyed them so we’ll update on that later 😋👍🏼

A couple of pictures from last night,

I know I know... you’re all wondering how I managed to end up with such a gorgeous wife... 😱

If I’m being honest it took years of wearing her down and tricking her into lowering her standards without her actually knowing what was happening at the time... it’s a true art form 😜😂

Lovely photos of a lovely (non high-maintenance) couple!  Still really enjoying your TR ... thanks for posting and very much appreciate your thoughts and comments on the tours.  I am taking notes and now have a better idea of what NOT to do in certain ports on our Reflection cruise later in 2020 ...

@Mr T Thoroughly enjoying this!

One question: I have seen several days that the casino was offering $5 table games. Any sense of how crowded it got compared to normal minimums?  I am wondering whether it is hard to get a seat fot BJ and Roulette.  Thanks!

Love the Reflection, she is our favorite ship! If you get a chance to ask, can you find out if they are offering the Ultimate Dining Package on board? It's not being offered on the cruise planner for our next cruise on her, we have booked the specialty dinner package for each night, but it's usually not much more to get the Ultimate and have lunch at the specialties included also 🙂

Thanks and have a wonderful time!!!

Hi,

they are are not offering the ultimate dining package on this cruise

WOW, nice winnings !  I never come out ahead!  LOL

A question for you, could you ask if there's a "bar server" named Taz, he's from Turkey, on the ship?  He was on another of the S class ships we were on & was so nice and would just like to see him again.  He was always in the Martini Bar but I know he was training others on the new Edge & then went home on break so not sure if he's back.  Thanks & please don't go out of your way to check.  We are boarding nx Friday so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Taz was recently on the Edge, but is now home on vacation.
