Ok just to clarify there is NO tobacco in e-cig juice(thus much safer than smoking), just nicotine and the user can control how much of that.  There is every flavor you can imagine available thus lots of smells-all good.  That being said, remind your friend that yes, allowed only in smoking areas and to make sure all of his batteries are in his carry-on, not checked luggage.  They aren't allowed because the pressure during  flight can cause them to explode.  If TSA finds them in his checked luggage, they will throw them out so he will get on the ship and won't be vaping lol.

And that would be a Bro-tastrophe

I was just talking with my group that is going on Sunrise in November and a few of us smoke. Now I know enough about what areas smoking is allowed, casino, some decks away from the pool and restaurants but what about vaping? I have a friend going with who is a bit of a bro and will just vape where ever he likes and even tho it's annoying and we tell him not to he still does. Now I don't want to get him kicked off if he does that so what are the vaping policies on the boat?

If he's one of them dudes that is proud as a peacock when he spews BIG ole clouds of that stuff,  that would stink. That stuff stinks no matter what flavor they are vaping or whatever anyone says...imo... I smoke cigs too, and still say the vapes stink.

They are only allowed in posted smoking areas.

Yes tell your cruise buddy to  Vape in smoking areas only.  And that's all you can do.  Not your problem, if he doesn't.

For the poster above: There's no "stink" to big puffs of vapor. But for all,  since nicotine is the "harmful" additive in vaping, it may not be as "safe" as many believe.

How very unprofessional of the staff to discuss the misdeeds of guests with others. I'm disappointed at this lack of discretion on the part of the ships' company.

I'm sorry, but that's how it works in the customer service industry. If you do something stupid, employees can and will talk about it behind your back. It's all part of what makes working in customer service tolerable.

As for vaping, if I were the unlucky soul sitting next to someone vaping in an area where it is not allowed, I would report it. That stuff smells terrible to me and I would prefer not to breathe in toxic junk. Water vapor or not, keep it away from me.

Yes, of course among themselves they kvetch about their customers. Wouldn't you say that employees complaining to other guests at a reception honoring  guests is not the place for complaining about guests? It seems like common courtesy and good sense to me.

As long as they aren't giving out names it doesn't bother me.

As a property manager, I disagree.  People who vape in closed rooms with no ventilation leave a distinct odor.

They don't need names.  A description of the behavior is usually enough.  They do remember faces and behaviors so when people show up again, they know what they are in for.

Nicotine is dangerous in any form.

there is no toxic junk and you can buy vegetable based vape pens. Whatever you think they will not kill you like cigarettes.

Exactly.  And yes, you can even make your own juice buying the ingredients(propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine)at any natural foods store.

Okay, I'll just be sure to ask whoever is vaping to show me proof that their vape of choice is vegetable based and doesn't contain harmful chemicals.

Not. Whatever is in it, the smell makes me feel nauseous.

To each his own but I would much rather smell my son's strawberry milkshake vape than the smell of a run-over skunk in the road!

As far as where vaping is allowed, it falls into the smoking category.  As far as those who say the smells are all good - I beg to differ.  I worked in an animal clinic where a client proceeded to vape in the exam room.  It was a sickly sweet maple syrup smell.  Now, out in the open, it would have been barely tolerable, but in an enclosed area, it was awful.  We had to air out the room for quite some time before it could be used for another patient.  That's pretty bad when you consider all the smells we encounter in a typical work day.

On the contrary.  Depending on the cartridge, that stuff can really have a rank smell. Even the flavored oils have a distinctive marijuana odor.

no it does not, marijuana vapes are not flavored.

Hah ha!  That is a hilarious claim!

There is a website that promotes getting High in these Times (hint hint) that has a page dedicated to the various "traditional flavors" of THC oils for vape pens, and why one has "naturally pine-y terpenes create a flavored weed oil that is crisp and refreshing" and another has a "sweet, fruity, almost grape-like taste".  Those "tastes" are smelled by the non-smokers around you.

Another site advertises "strawberry flavored liquid THC".

It's like all those folks that smoke regular cigarettes that don't understand how obvious their smoke smells, and how it lingers on everything - their clothing, in their car, on their hands...

Vape if you want, where allowed, but do not fall under the illusion that what you are doing isn't obvious to everyone else, scent-wise.

Since most vape cartridges are manufactured in China/Asia, there is no quality control on ingredients put into the mix.  Could have arson, arsenic, or any other toxic chemical, just like regular cigarettes had.

Remember the wall board that had asbestos?  Dog food that poisoned and killed pooches?  Prescription drugs that have carcinogens or glass grounded in?  Made in China/India/Asia cheaply and with little or no oversight.

I know one person who vaped for 2 years as a sub for ciggies,  because of doctor's warnings about possible future lung damage like COPD if she continued smoking cigarettes.  After she finally quit vaping, she developed lung cancer.

When vaping products finally get registered as a drug and subjected to quality control and government regulation, they can be quite useful in smoking cessation.  Until then it's a crapshoot.

I think we have found another hot button issue to add to tipping, dress code and beverage packages. :classic_dry:

The question OP asked has been answered several times. Happy Cruising y'all

Yeah, asked and answered by the 3rd or 4th post. The echo you hear is all the pile on posters.
